What you mean "the only option"?
You could've opted for either 0 month or 12 months contract. sweat.gif

With new signing or change package, you will be automatically contracted for 2 years but with some discount, right?

The discount is the price difference compared to 0 month contract option.

You can opt for 0 month contract option thereafter once you have completed the initial 12 or 24 month contract period.

My thinking is that if the price is published up front. Then it is willing seller willing buyer case. So there is no issue. The problem is when the contract got extended without proper notification or price hike... then it is more of a concern
*

So far do you hear actual cases where contract auto renewal happens without any kind of notification being sent to customers, like SMS message or email?

That is interesting. Mean for ppl not same mindset as me has a lot of spare money or not so care cost? Sooka is good but ppl not same mindset as me prefer to pay more for the same entertainment. Even njoi now also good but ppl still prefer to pay more. Unifitv has almost the same thing sometime more as they give apps and a lot cheaper. Strange mindset these other ppl. If say need epl i understand since only azzterooo got. Normal entertainment everywhere else is much cheaper and can save money. I dont und. I think a lot of ppl same mindset with me since everytime azzzrerooo report their subscribe number fall like fly. Only those still paying so high cost i think they all need live sports and it is fair. Only try to inderstand, apology if offend.
*

Another potential reasons is, there are people who have already gotten used to Astro, hence not willing to change or learn new thing by using different means of watching TV.

And yes, there are people who are either have no financial worries, can afford to spend on Astro, just prefer everything to be easier, simpler, worry-free, and not so willing to simply jump ship to some other services because not everyone likes the idea of changing, even when the number of existing Astro subscribers keeps on decreasing as time goes by due to various of reasons.

Some people would think that if spending more money can make their life a little easier or better, compared to jump ship to different services and learn new thing by spending less or even free (like illegal streaming services), they would rather choose to spend more money. Everyone's mindset is different, so.... 🤷

Everyone has different viewing preferences and appetite. As long they're happy with it, then ok lo...

Feel annoying keep pop up continue viewing, and are tou sure what to switch channel?
My parent not understand the pop up
After few reboot finally use back satelite

And now signal is about 65 to 70
Now if you go to Settings>Satellite Settings>Diagnostics, what is the CNR reading? How many dB?

But after yesterday rain, it keep use internet play, even signal is back, it does not auto switch?

When the Ultra/Ulti Box is under Satellite mode + connected to the Internet + no satellite signal = you will see this message (shown above) when tune to any channels except 4K UHD and radio channels.
As you press OK to 'Switch Now', from that moment onwards, the box will load the TV channel via Internet streaming, until you tune to other channel, which it will switches back to Satellite reception mode.
And nope, it does not auto switch. You have to do it manually everytime you tune to a different channel when the box detects no satellite signal.

Feel annoying keep pop up continue viewing, and are tou sure what to switch channel?
My parent not understand the pop up
After few reboot finally use back satelite

The "Would you like to stay on this programme? Select No to switch to Live TV channel." pop-up message is an expected behaviour since Astro PVR box era.
It is also to remind you that you are watching an already-rewinded TV channel (not watching a Live channel) before you decides to tune to other channel.
After you select "No", then it will start to receive the TV channel via satellite reception again as it tunes to the other channel.

You don't need to reboot for it to go back to satellite TV reception.
You can explain to your parents that whenever the "Switch to Continuous Viewing" message appears, it means no satellite signal (e.g. due to bad weather).
Just press OK on remote control, then they'll be able to watch their channel as usual again (because it temporary uses Internet streaming now).
And then, when the "Would you like to stay on this programme?...." pop-up message appears when tuning to other channel, just select "No". (press Right arrow button, and then press OK).
Advise your parents not to do channel surfing when there's no satellite signal (e.g. during heavy rain), cuz otherwise the "Switch to Continuous Viewing" message will keep re-appear again and again as they keep surfing/tuning different channels, unless you don't mind lah (but now you already complain annoying, so... 🤷‍♂️)

Thought the switch to ultrabox is foc now.
If the ultrabox is mainly used by your parents and they are not using the VOD and streaming feature, just don't connect ultrabox to internet can help on the pop up message.
*

Switch to Ultra Box for FREE is subject to which Astro package tier you are currently on.
It is not always FREE to everyone, cuz Astro will always give priority to those high-paying customers one...
The pop up message that PJng refers to, is the "Switch to Continuous Viewing" feature. It is to allow you to continue watching TV channels when there's no satellite signal, and Internet connection is required for that feature to work.

It's either that the agent is still dreaming, or he/she purposely tell you to switch to the new Astro pack to make his/her KPI look nice and potentially earn more commission.

Alternatively, you can also upgrade to the new box by WhatsApp Astro at +60395433838. Once you type Hi, then Type 7 for Box Upgrade, and you'll be routed to a live agent already.
Reminder: If you want it to be in Satellite mode, you must tell that agent before the agent create the order in their system ya.

Btw just to understand better, now your relative is on legacy pack, and you have 1 Main box and 1 Multiroom box, is that correct?
Which legacy pack that your relative is on now?

Also, try this instead:
1) Go to https://product.astro.com.my/box
2) Select the pink "chat icon" on bottom right corner.
3) Type "live agent"
4) Select "Technical Support"
5l Keep the tab open and wait for agent to attend you.

Yes 1 main and 1 multiroom.  Both are PVR.
Free installation and ultrabox for main decoder only.
For multiroom, do they need to raise a technican report to upgrade ultrabox?

Because of 2 PVRs, there are 4 cables from LNB.
Will they change tthe LNB?  Heard change of LNB cost will be borne by customers?
I foresee there will be redundant 2 cables from the LNB.  Need to remove them or any better suggestions?

Clicked on the URL you provided and it says need to upgrade new pack.

If yes, since it is a Multiroom installation, then the installer should provide DCSS LNB for you, for free.

Just keep it as it is (for a backup) sweat.gif

Thanks Joshhd for your reply.

Cuz what I know is, the free box upgrade campaign is not eligible for Multiroom box.

I clicked on the URL you provided and there is no option for me to choose either main or multiroom and showing the text message as shown to you earlier, ie., my auntie needs to change the packs before proceed?

So there are 2 PVR boxes installed in the same house, is it?
If yes, since it is a Multiroom installation, then the installer should provide DCSS LNB for you, for free.

Yes, there are 2 PVRs at the same house.
The current quad LNB will not be working for ultrabox and need DCSS LNB?
According the CS, visitation from installer will be free but the accessories need to be borne by customers.  LNB, satelite dish are considered as accessories.
When I asked CS why need to change LNB, she said it is upto the installer to decide. If need to change, need to pay.

Can I help my auntie to change the main PVR and then change the multiroom PVR later for free, to see if she can adapt to ultrabox?
The CS said she needs to create a report if need to upgrade multiroom PVR.. probably to get permission.

If my auntie changes one main and maintain the multiroom PVR, still need 3 LNB port right?
Is there any DCSS LNB for 3 cables?

Of course it will be the best if your auntie can switch to the new Astro pack altogether sweat.gif
But what I'm aware is that, the free box upgrade campaign that they offer to legacy pack customers, is only applicable for main box only. Multiroom box are not eligible.

The current quad LNB will not be working for ultrabox and need DCSS LNB?
Short answer is, it will still work. Just make sure the "LNB Type" setting is set to "Universal".
DCSS LNB is optional.

According the CS, visitation from installer will be free but the accessories need to be borne by customers. LNB, satelite dish are considered as accessories.
What the CS meant by accessories are usually referring to additional cabling, cable connectors, additional new satellite dish, non-standard installation, etc.
LNB are usually is free of charge, unless you got other special requests or something.

Can I help my auntie to change the main PVR and then change the multiroom PVR later for free, to see if she can adapt to ultrabox?
The CS said she needs to create a report if need to upgrade multiroom PVR.. probably to get permission.

By right, only account owner (your auntie?) are authorised to make such upgrade requests. If a third party (e.g. you) want to do such requests, by right an authorisation letter should be provided to them (e.g. via email), saying that the account owner authorises the other person (e.g. you) to make account changes.

Based on the current campaign they have now, what I know is, only main box is eligible for free box upgrade to Ultra Box. Multiroom box memang not eligible.
Don't forget, your aunt is on legacy pack (i.e. Super Pack Plus 3), not the new Astro pack.
So if you insist to upgrade the Multiroom box to Ultra Box, then you're left with no choice but to switch to the new Astro pack altogether, then all the restrictions that legacy pack customers have will be gone.
Reminder: If you opt for 12/24 mth contract option when opting for new Astro pack, then contract auto renewal rule applies. Unless you're okay with 0 month contract pricing.

If my auntie changes one main and maintain the multiroom PVR, still need 3 LNB port right?
Is there any DCSS LNB for 3 cables?

You can continue using your Quad LNB as it is.
Only 1 satellite cable will be connected to Ultra Box, while 2 satellite cables will remain connected to the PVR box.

For those who never heard of Rocketfuel Entertainment, here's what it is:
QUOTE
Rocketfuel Entertainment is a media and entertainment company, a record label, and a talent management agency that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astro Malaysia Holdings.
It was established in 2017 and is responsible for developing the influencer market with polished talents, driven by a dynamic approach to talent management and digital content.
It has four main divisions: Rocketfuel Talents, Rocketfuel Records, Rocketfuel Studio, and Rocketfuel Live.
Rocketfuel Entertainment also manages some of the most popular artists in Malaysia, such as Zizan Razak, Remy Ishak, and Lisa Surihani.
So that means moving forward, we can all expect that whenever there is a new Malay song release from Rocketfuel Entertainment, Astro shall launch a pop up channel that only keeps on airing that latest music video again and again repeatedly non-stop (plus some behind the scenes, interviews, extras) and nothing else biggrin.gif
It's just like you play and listen to the same music on loop for few consecutive days.

Well, for Astro's point of view, creating a pop up TV channel would create a hype and online discussions sweat.gif

You might get a slightly different signal readings if the particular TV channel transmits from a different satellite transponder frequency.

But no need to headache about that... For reference sake, tune to either channel 311, 393, 707 and then get the CNR readings.

How can be free? You need at least subscribed to Ultimate + Pack for RM99 I believe

Anyway it is for standard resolution (Full HD I think). Same like through Astro.
*
It's not "free" sweat.gif
To get Netflix from Unifi TV plans, you can opt for their Ultimate Plus (RM99.90/mth) or Ultimate Max (RM134.90/mth) plan.

- Ultimate Plus (RM99.90/mth) comes with Netflix Basic (720p streaming, usually priced at RM28/month).
If want to upgrade from Netflix Basic to Netflix Standard, add RM17/month.
Or if want to upgrade from Netflix Basic straight to Netflix Premium, add RM27/month.

- Ultimate Max (RM134.90/mth) comes with Netflix Standard (1080p streaming, usually priced at RM45/month).
If want to upgrade from Standard to Netflix Premium, add RM10/month.

Netflix Basic = Up to 720p streaming, 1 screen
Netflix Standard = Up to 1080p streaming, 2 screens
Netflix Premium = Up to 4K UHD 2160p streaming & Dolby Atmos, 4 screens

QUOTE(Zot @ Jan 26 2024, 03:28 PM)
For Disney, I'm not sure resolution through Astro buy if you view through Android Box, it will depends on source material which mean 4K you get 4K. Netflix you need to subscribe to Premium to get 4K.
*

Disney+ Hotstar subscription plan already supports 4K UHD, and that includes the one you get from Astro.
All you need is to install/use the Disney+ Hotstar App on your supported Android TVs or smart TVs to enjoy its 4K UHD streaming (subject to content availability).

Do note that the Disney+ Hotstar App on Ultra Box supports up to Full HD and Stereo audio only. It has nothing got to do with where you get the Disney+ Hotstar entitlement from.

I went to assthrow service center with my auntie and her children, met with the head there.
Able to upgrade one of PVRs to ultrabox and maintain the multiroom in PVR.
The head also allows to switch multiroom PVR to Ultra with no contract/new pack but I don't want to risk in case my auntie complaints got problem/not accustomed to ultrabox later.

If we want to upgrade multiroom PVR to Ultrabox later, can call or go to the center to raise a case for faulty decoder. Assthrow will send to repair or most likely change to ultrabox for free.

For this coming installation, can get DCSS lnb or universal lnb and they will also include the spiltter for free.  So can accomodate the ultrabox and PVR satelite cabling.
The head shared sometimes the PVR cannot get all the channels if using DCSS lnb.  Not sure it is true or not.
In short, no need to pay anything for installation and with no contract plus maintain with legacy plan.

Wah, which service centre did you go? Straight away get to meet the head? Maybe because they see that your whole family members are there 😂

Congrats 👍

If we want to upgrade multiroom PVR to Ultrabox later, can call or go to the center to raise a case for faulty decoder. Assthrow will send to repair or most likely change to ultrabox for free.
But based on what I know, even if you raise a case for your Multiroom box as faulty box, it will only be free if you agree to switch to the new Astro packs with contract. If you insist to maintain your legacy pack, then you got to pay RM65 for technical visit.

For this coming installation, can get DCSS lnb or universal lnb and they will also include the spiltter for free. So can accomodate the ultrabox and PVR satelite cabling.
So would you want to continue using your Quad LNB then?

The head shared sometimes the PVR cannot get all the channels if using DCSS lnb. Not sure it is true or not.
I think the head is referring to the issue where those older batch of DCSS LNB (usually grey colour, commonly used before 2021) where it unable to receive channels from transponder frequencies ranging from 11232MHz to 11432MHz.

If this happens, then just perform the "Update Satellite Frequency" on the PVR box. It will reprogram the DCSS LNB to make it able to receive the transponder frequencies mentioned earlier. The issue solves after you perform the update. Not a big deal.

If so happen the Astro HD/PVR box models you are using, does not have "Update Satellite Frequency" option even when LNB Input setting already set to DCSS, then you'll need to find another Astro box that has that option, temporary connect it to your satellite dish, and then do the update. This is something that Astro installer would do.

Or, some Astro installer would just "take shortcut and save time" by straight away change your existing DCSS LNB to the current DCSS LNB (usually in blue colour, refer pic below)
user posted image
Because the current DCSS LNBs already pre-programmed all transponder frequencies correctly out of the box, so no need to worry about this.

Ohh, you're referring to another one... sweat.gif
RM139 for 300Mbps and Netflix Basic (worth RM28/mth)
Meaning, you're paying RM111 for 300Mbps effectively.
