Read this:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=96871232

Situation like this would arise whenever a customer's PVR box is faulty.

Astro has stopped manufacture new PVR boxes since years ago, hence only the refurbished PVR boxes would be given priority to existing PVR box customers who do not wish to upgrade to Ultra Box due to various technical reasons.
However, just because the "priority" is there, it does not guarantee they will confirm offer you the refurbished PVR box. After all, it is subject to stock availability.
Or, maybe they would tell you they got no stocks for refurbished PVR box. But in reality, it could be opposite.
They could say that, so that you got no much of a choice but to opt for Ultra Box... Like I said, they got to "reserve" to those who really needs PVR box more.  sweat.gif
So it is something that you got to discuss with Astro directly, and give hundreds of good reasons why you don't want Ultra Box.

So does it mean, now having Astro PVR box is like having a "rare item" in your house? Maybe  sweat.gif

Astro Ultra Box is 100% dependent on Internet connection to stream your cloud recordings, because Ultra Box does not have built-in hard disk in it.
Also, you will need a 4K UHD TV (must be HDCP 2.2 compliant) to watch Astro UHD channel (ch780).
More info here: https://www.astro.com.my/ultra

Therefore, you are strongly advised to do further research on the pros and cons of the product before upgrading to Astro Ultra Box.
Otherwise, take good care of your PVR box, such as making sure it has proper ventilation to avoid being overheat.
*
This sounds like they are going to force Astro IPTV and astro&broadband customers to take the Ultra box when their current decoder dies

but I'm using 3rd party router.... only can have IPTV or VOD(Internet) at 1 time

🤔, seems like TM needs to buck up.... my uncle’s housing area isn’t included in the list though.... would be nice to see some fiber coverage at my uncles housing area....

The modem seems outdated... wireless N 2.4ghz WiFi only.... like this how to go to 100mbps...

That one is just the fibre modem that comes with 2.4GHz WiFi.
They might provide another WiFi router which supports dual 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi.

Plus, the fibre modem supports 2.5Gbps speed, where the usual fibre modem that TM, Maxis and TIME provides is usually supports up to 1Gbps only.
*
Possible, no idea how it would be set up though and how complicated it gets like on unifi and maxis infra( especially for Astro IPTV)

At least TM is going to lose its monopoly in Ipoh? Slow roll out of fiber infra by TM....

Astro Subscription Rate Card - June 2020
user posted image    user posted image
*click/tap the image above to view

There has been some changes in their package offerings, compared to the previous April 2020's version, which I wanna highlight it to you guys...
user posted image
Astro's decades-old rule is dead; you can no longer simply just add Movies, Dynasty, mini packs, plus packs like "a la carte" packages anymore.
To add on those packages, you must go for package bundles option like Starter Pack, Value Packs and so on...
So if you're still on the older and expensive packages, it's time to consider upgrade to the latest package bundles, as you could actually enjoy more savings and/or otherwise more channels.

As long you take any package bundles (e.g. Starter Pack, Value Pack, Super Pack Lite....) as shown on Astro's latest subscription rate card,
the HD service is already included. So, no need to add RM26.50/month separately like last time biggrin.gif

user posted image
- Fans Pack (Value Pack 4) is now known as "Selection Pack" with some changes in packages.
- Stars Pack (Value Pack 5) is dead.
- One of Starter Pack option "Choice of 1 Mini" at a total price of RM65/month incl SST, is no longer available?  hmm.gif
- As long you're on any Value Packs, you can now enjoy the Premier League pack, which includes ONLY this 3 sports channel: Astro SuperSport 1, 2 and 3 (in both SD and HD)
...and a few more, which I kinda lazy to list it out. (You can study the comparison above.....)

user posted image
The latest revision of all Astro's Super Pack Lite prices is now at a fixed amount of RM115/month
Super Pack Lite is not actually "new"... It's been available for quite some time already, and Astro didn't make it known to the general public.
Prior to this, Astro's marketing team usually offer Super Pack Lite to customers that is used to be on Super Pack. In other words, they miss your money after you downgraded Super Pack.  tongue.gif
But after since the package revision of especially Starter Packs and Value Packs, it makes their older Super Pack Lite packages offering to look expensive, hence they revise it altogether at fixed RM115/month, and make it easily available to anyone to subscribe.

For any Super Pack Lite and Super Packs, you can add +RM5/month per mini package.
All latest Super Packs now includes Sports, Baby TV, Korean, ABO BollyOne HD, Tayangan Hebat HD, Thangathirai HD, Celestial Movies, BOO, and HBO GO subscription.
Super Pack 1, 2 and 3 includes 3 mini packages.
user posted image
Super Pack 4 is now the only Super Pack that comes with all 4 mini packages at the same flat rate of RM146/month (RM154.80/month incl. tax).

user posted image
Super Pack Plus 4 has gone missing?
You can still go for Super Pack Plus 3, and then manually add on Mustika, Indo Pek, Maharaja and Chakravarthy pack, and the total is RM222.95/month excl. SST, which is a little cheaper than the older, actual Super Pack Plus 4 of RM228/month excl. SST  tongue.gif

user posted image
Seems that now you can add up to 3 Multiroom subscription (which means max of any 4 Astro boxes in your home).
Another thing worth reminding here is, both Astro IPTV and Astro & Broadband has the same price for its Internet package.
*
For Astro&Broadband/Astro IPTV, after 24 months the pricing would go to Rm 322 per month or Rm307 per month?

Package: SPP3 + 100mbps

After you finish the update, what's your software version date shown on STB Diagnostics?
Any noticeable differences?

Apparently there’s an update for DMT 5V2

Version 10.0.0.00.01 may 17 2020(860),, driver release version: 0017

Still the EPG UI not the new ultra box UI

How do I cancel astro IPTV and go back to satellite?

Call astro IPTV customer service then they say they "can't access IPTV account" and they’ll call back in 24 hours

I didn’t receive any report number when I heard that said that they’ll create report

Can't access IPTV account?
Why it sounds to me like they're giving excuses  confused.gif ?

Try call the usual customer service hotline, 03-95433838 and then select Account Termination.
If they say they "cannot check/trace our account" nonsense, try tell them other details to check, like name, address, IC number, Astro smart card number, so on. Details that is tied to your Astro IPTV account.

If they still beating around the bush with you, walk in to the nearest Astro service centre.
Not Astro dealer shops or booths argh. Those are for their "hotspots" to earn sales commissions one. It's different.
*
If contact normal astro hotline wouldn't they redirect me to the astro IPTV hotline instead? confused.gif

btw switching back from astro IPTV to satelite gives better picture quality

Had to do that since the fiber cable laid in my home by maxis has been taken over by TM for unifi service

That is if the IPTV hotline can't help you get things done, then you can try call the usual customer service hotline and see if they can somehow help.

And how'd you know that switching back from Astro IPTV to satellite will have better picture quality? Now your Astro IPTV, bad picture quality, or how?

*
Will try the usual Astro customer service,, yup Astro IPTV has apparently bad picture quality now with pixelation,, apparently video call through Microsoft teams is having the same issue too

QUOTE(joshhd @ Aug 29 2020, 06:16 PM)
Huh? How you know?
TM contacted you, or how?
*
Because I’m switching from Astro IPTV to unifi and the installer gave the option of unplugging the maxis fiber cable from the FTB (refer to the picture below) and reuse the white fiber cable as an option

You said pixelation, as in like, network packet loss kind of pixelation or poor video quality due to bitrate issue like I mentioned on previous posts?

Did you file a complaint to Astro IPTV about this previously? What did they say? Did they send technician over to check?
*
Network loss kind off pixelation(potentially both),, didn’t really bother since their customers service is kinda time consuming to deal with

Btw joshHD how’s the ultra box experience?

Some of the things they did great, but they also take away some of the good stuff, eventually become mixed feelings.
Which I've mentioned about it long ago ady... Yet still have to accept it.

hmm.gif what’s the workaround for PVR box with one tuner plugged in?

For some reason the decoder need sat 1 at startup(load TV guide, channel list, etc) but then uses sat 2 for TV feed

The record button doesn’t work since TV guide doesn’t even load(when plugged into Sat 2)

Even a factory reset doesn’t work

Correction: PVR box cannot work properly with only 1 cable input unless if it's SatCR LNB.
Regardless, you must use cable splitter to make sure both SAT IN 1 and SAT IN 2 of your PVR box is connected.

Just buy this...
https://shopee.com.my/2-Way-HD-Digital-Coax...3644.7122087161
https://shopee.com.my/JASEN-Power-Splitter-...7994.2763206194

If you don't have extra F connectors after splitting/cutting the Astro cable, get this too
https://shopee.com.my/RG6-Connector-F-Type-...3644.1791364368

*links above are for reference purposes only.
*
I see,, already got Astro to convert the account to DTH

I guess Astro would replace the universal LNB to DCSS LNB and at the same time do the splitting FOC?

Replace to DCSS LNB, yes.
Whether it's free of charge or not, I'm not sure. You got to ask them to confirm...

After all, you already pay them a lot every month on Super Pack Plus, right? 🤣
See whether that would convinces them to do it free for you.  biggrin.gif
*
Yup,, might even upgrade to ultra box too, so paying for the splitter is like a waste if I were to upgrade to ultra box

Their customer service said that need to convert the account back to normal account then can only request for ultra box

Some of their agents tend to gives you pain in the ass (with all sort of excuses), therefore let say if this particular agent doesn't serve you the way you'd expected, don't need to waste your time try to explain and even argue with him/her.
Just end the call, and call again to speak with another agent.

So now, does your Astro IPTV still continue receives TV channels via IP network, or you switched to satellite mode already?
How about your Internet connection?
*
Since TM actually disconnected the maxis infra line and reuse the indoor fiber cable,,I had to manually switch over to satellite feed but can get only 1 tuner working for the moment

Btw the CS said that they’ll call 2 days before they come and pick up the modem and router( do I need to give the power adapter back or can I keep the power adapter as spare parts?),, currently maxis modem and router is collecting dust

Check the satellite cable connecting to SAT IN 2 port at the back of your PVR box.
If the cable is found not to be properly terminated (i.e. easily pulled out even without turning to loosen the cable), it would easily lost the connection to your satellite dish.

You're advised to use electrical tape to wrap around the connector to make sure the connector is secure with the cable.

If it is properly terminated, yet this happens, check your cable connection whether does it connects to any cable splitter or not?

Other than this, then it might be something wrong somewhere with the LNB of your satellite dish up there.
*
Just brought and install spliter my PVR decoder,, which channel combination can work ( 1 rec another live)? Currently using Universal LNB on the satelite dish

Apparently the cable I brought feels better quality than astro's one,, thicker and the connector feels better
