You can try and compare... They keep updating their promos every few months once, and they might make certain promos to be exclusive to certain contact channels only, such as WhatsApp.

What I observe is, if you WhatsApp them by sending only the keyword like SWITCH or GET SPORTS, it will direct you to their telemarketing team, and who knows there might be some untold secret better promos that you and I don't even know about (but do share it with us, if can).

Telemarketing is a contact channel meant to tie your legs down and earn money from you only. They definitely won't layan you if you enquire about billing, technical problem, or anything unrelated to sales.

I managed to get further info on this, and this is what I've gathered:
  • Only for legacy pack customers from Value Pack and above. Lower tier ones like Family and Starter Pack can cry are not eligible.
    CORRECTION: Only applicable for legacy pack customers with the monthly subscription of RM100 and above (excl. tax), including but not limited to Value Pack + separate Movies/Sports addon.
  • Eligible only for those are still using HD box or PVR box, or any other older boxes. In other words, only for those who are currently not using either Ulti or Ultra Box.
  • Must maintain your existing legacy pack as is.
  • Super Pack Plus customer are the only ones will be getting Ultra Box. If you're on lower tier ones like Super Pack, Super Pack Lite, Value Pack...., you'll only be getting Ulti Box.
  • No contract, and no additional fees, hoping that you don't ever think of terminating Astro.

Nope. It's a one way ticket, not a round trip ticket.
Astro PVR box is considered a discontinued product by Astro many years ago. So even if your PVR box spoils someday, or whatever reason that requires box replacement, they'll give you Ulti Box instead, no more PVR box.
Enjoy while you can.

No.... Astro won't be giving you PVR box anymore.
If your existing box spoil, then they'll change to Ulti or Ultra Box.

The rule has slightly changed (for now).
They're having an offer to legacy packs customers (except Family and Starter Pack) to upgrade to Ulti Box (or Ultra Box if you're on Super Pack Plus) and it is FOC without any contract, while you maintain your current legacy Astro pack as it is.

Yes. What's the issue you're facing with your Astro box now?

I don’t want to use it. My broadband may not support too many devices.
If you're watching Astro channels via satellite dish, the box will still work. But if the box is not connected to the Internet, you won't be able to access features like cloud recording, Video On Demand, Play from Start, profile selection, etc. If you don't use them, then it should be okay.

Yes you are correct.
Astro no longer provide "standard decoder" like you mentioned as replacement, except only either Ulti Box or Ultra Box.
How old are your Astro box? Still working fine? Can show us a pic of how your Astro box look like?

Only if your phone has a IR blaster, you can use those remote control apps for Astro.
If worse to worse, get a cheapo remote control that works for Astro. Or find ways to get at least a secondhand Astro/NJOI remote control.

Friendly reminder: When bringing Astro box to other house, make sure you have at least these in the bag:
1) Astro box (with smart/SIM card inserted)
2) Astro remote control (with AAA batteries inside)
3) Power adapter
4) HDMI cable (if that house doesn't have one).

Have you tried selecting "Auto" on your Ultra Box?

Try go through the settings on your soundbar or TV, and look for "Auto Volume / Loudness Equalisation / Volume Normalisation" related settings.
If you see one, enable it.

I've double check with my sources. And yes, unfortunately for now, this offer is mainly targeted on those who are on legacy pack with the total subscription price of RM100 and above, excluding tax.

So in simple words, regardless of which legacy packs you're on now, as long it is RM99 and below (excl tax), then the free Ulti Box upgrade without contract + maintain legacy pack offer is not eligible for you.

We've all been there.
You'll get used to it. No need to bother contacting the customer service for this.

When you experience this, just unplug the power for the Ultra box, and then plug it back on again, and launch the app again.

If you can't take it anymore, use Disney+ Hotstar app on your smart TV / Android TV.
