At this point of time, are you facing issues with Astro? Let's see what are the ways to contact Astro customer service now:

1. Call 03-9543 3838
Be prepared to wait up to 1 hour to get someone attend to you. Calling their service hotline is not a good option now.

2. Astro Facebook page / Twitter
Do expect that they would reply you late, even even up to days of waiting, or won't even reply you at all.

3. Email / submit feedback form on Astro website
No need to ask. Same thing also. "3 working days to reply you"? You believe that?

4. Live chat via WhatsApp
user posted image

5. Walk in service centre
Do you think it's still open as business as usual, at this kind of time?

In conclusion, if you face any issues with Astro, you're on your own.

No satellite signal (SCNA)? You're on your own.
Subscribed to a channel via online or CH200, but didn't get it? You're on your own.
Paid your bills, but your service have not resumed? You're on your own.
Any other questions you want to ask Astro? You're on your own.

If you face any technical issues, you got to Google the answers yourself to find ways to solve it.

Astro opens up their channels for customers to watch at home already.

So if you haven't pay your Astro bill yet, better pay it as soon as possible to avoid potential service disruption.
Cuz if it got interrupted, and your service didn't resume for whatever reasons, do expect that no one in Astro would attend to your concerns at this point of time. When that happens, you cry also no point.
For whatever reasons you're facing now, it is a hard lesson for you to make sure you pay your bills on time, otherwise, just sign up for auto debit.

Astro customer service is literally dead now. Only those third party installers/technicians who still working as usual despite the partial lockdown, might be able to help you.
Take good care of your Astro equipment. Don't spoil it, at this point of time.
*
Woah, like this means those who are subscribing Astro & broadband and also Astro IPTV would not have any tech support for the time being especially if the internet went down...

Yes. You guys better pray hard that your Astro services are not interrupted at this point of time.
Astro customer service centre there must be tsunami + earthquake disaster now. Suddenly too many customers asking questions.
That might explains why nobody from Astro seems to reply customer's enquiries in a timely manner.

If it's technical related issue, such as no satellite signal due to dish misalignment, at least you'd still have help from those third party antenna installers/technicians who still willing to work despite the partial lockdown, which you'll have to find their contacts and not going through Astro customer service. If it's accounted related, billing related, good luck.
So just enjoy the movie channels, and other channels that Astro has opened to their customers.

If let’s say for IPTV, maxis definitely won’t entertain, IT shop close so cannot get parts.... this sounds messed up
What happened to essential service?

Btw, Can 3rd party installer replace decoder?

2) *Astro not happy *
3) Astro: Existing Astro Sports pack customers, get ALL channels until 30 April.
4) Unifi TV: ?

...to be continued...?
Yes, it is very obvious, as Astro is facing almost like PR disaster-like situation now, wondering why some customers get this, why some didn't get that, and so on.
Lots of customers would prefer Astro to give rebate/discount/refunds, but giving out rebates/refunds is basically not their (pay TV businesses) cup of tea.
They would rather open up their channels to the deserved ones (in their definition), and die die also don't want give rebate. Bcuz give out rebate means, money going out from them.

Lol, why say until like not long enough? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The photo already stated it very clearly, until 30 April.
1 month too little for you? 🤣
Try link it again?

The smart card number can be obtained from the STB diagnostic page right or by pulling out the card?

And it’s going to take some getting used to, seems like can’t modify subscriptions from there anymore

The Astro IPTV option( the more info link) brings to this page https://product.astro.com.my/broadband

Looks like Astro revised their Astro and broadband plan to give more discount

That's why la ranting.gif
Already been enjoying no monthly fee, still want more and more stuff. They open up Nat Geo Wild and Kix channels for Njoi customers for free is "considered give face already".
Regardless of Njoi or Astro customers, because of the partial lockdown, forced to stay at home, and nothing else to watch, they're expecting them to open all sorts of channels for free, or otherwise give refund/discount for all sorts of reasons.

Now Astro customer service is experiencing like a tsunami. They couldn't tahan anymore to entertain those customers...
Too many are asking to open all sort of channels for free. They think Astro is very rich because of decades of monopoly, so they're expecting to offer free gifts like Santa Claus 🤣
Come on la, at this point of time, everyone is facing huge losses, and Astro is no exception. They have a lot of things to consider in the long term, plus with this COVID-19 outbreak that affects worldwide, it's not going to be easy for anyone.

And with all those people keep bombarding their customer service, hoping them to open more channels, where the same similar questions have been asked over and over again by many. Seriously, those people should refrain from bargaining or persuading them further, as there are ones out there who really in need of assistance from Astro, especially those who face technical difficulties for days and weeks, are not able to get help from Astro, like those who face technical difficulties like no signal due to dish misalignment, Astro IPTV service down, follow up complaint cases, and so on?

I've seen enough of comments on Astro Facebook page where some have waited so long on the phone and still no one attends to them, and the queue number spike up as high as 40+ (means 40+ customers are in the queue for your turn to speak to you). Especially those using mobile prepaid plan (and don't have unlimited call ones), their phone credit were finished up because of that long wait. WhatsApp live chat that disconnects automatically without an agent attend to them after 30+ mins of waiting. I believe from what we all can observe on Astro Facebook page, we can roughly get a picture on what's going on Astro customer service there now. You barely see much of Astro CS agents in charge would use the same copy-paste answers to reply to those comments like those days anymore, which left many comments and general questions unanswered.
Customers want Astro to be "considerate" with them, so they keep bombarding them to open up more channels bcuz they say Astro shouldn't be so selfish.
But at the end of the day, who's selfish now? Astro, or those people that keep call up and ask to open up more channels?

user posted image
Sometimes I wonder, is that a karma?

Let alone all major sports events have been postponed like Premier League, UEFA...
Astro where got mood to give discounts to customers if those sports content provider in the western countries aren't compensating much or at all, to the pay TV providers 🙃

Now, whenever Astro opens up a category of channels, for sure some will happy, some will feel it's unfair, thinking that Astro is being selfish and bias.
Give also make noise, no give also make noise, do nothing also make noise.
Even if Astro open up channels, they still have to pay for content also.
Cartoon channels, maybe?
Those parents expect Astro to open up cartoon channels for free, since their kids were forced to stay at home, and cannot sit still.
If they want cartoon channels, they can just subscribe to Kids pack.
If don't want to fork out the money for it, then they might as well just watch cartoons on somewhere else, like YouTube or Netflix.

Anyhow, Astro seems to make a final decision already, where these are the only offers to its customers. So to those people, just stop bargaining.  dry.gif

The last part definitely, disrupting other people such as astro IPTV/astro and broadband customers from contacting Astro... As calling their CS is the only reliable option

This means gg if people subscribe combos ( internet + TV ) such as Astro IPTV, Astro and broadband.... and their self-help is useless also, need to call them directly....( their self-help go give wrong info for Astro IPTV.... waste of time)..... eg: acting as if they are taking down info but in reality, go and write down, "request for a callback" bangwall.gif ranting.gif

Maxis CS is open, refer to picture in the spoiler but they'll just ask it's users to call Astro IPTV CS

1. I don't have 4K TV yet. So should I choose 1080p or 1080i for better screen resolution?

2. How do I know if my antenna support DCSS or SAT CR and what's the difference between them? (The installer chose SAT CR as default)

2. SatCR and DCSS is a totally different LNB and aren't compatible with each other, since the installer chose SatCR and assuming you got a picture( not SCNA), it means that you are using a SatCR LNB

And yes, only Cartoon Network and nothing else. Disney, Nickelodeon all those, nope.
I'm not sports pack customer, so yea, looks that they opened for everyone also.

Astro prefers open up the channels day per day, rather than one shot?
Or they just can't take it anymore cuz too many customers making too much noise to them to open up cartoon channels, so they open just Cartoon Network to keep our mouth shut?  biggrin.gif
Aiyaa, good enough already... Beggars can't be choosy. If any of you want all cartoon channels, just subscribe to Kids pack. No money no talk.

Also, I read that apparently Astro has opened Celestial Movies (322) to Njoi users.
Any Njoi users here can confirm?  hmm.gif

If not mistaken that's already open long time ago ? I forgot.... it's either the one with the green logo or the blue one

Is it normal for PVR box( DMT 5v2) to glitch out for contents that were downloaded via VOD?

like play the video then stop(while you were doing something) then play again

Only happens with VOD content

it would show like corrupted content/unwatchable content upon resuming playback

Oh, then it’s possible for both Astro and NJOI customers to receive this channel then like when they switch from 1-2 digit channel number(for TV channels, 3 digit for radio, test channels and also games- remember those channels?) to 3 digit channel number entirely( and got rid of the game channel)

No offence, but could you take a clearer picture of this?
Or any Njoi users here? Hope to see someone take a clearer photo of CH100 Njoi channel now.

Err, not really understand what you mean. Why suddenly mention the old Astro days though?
Channel list is just like a "text file" like I told you before. It's just whether Astro want the particular group of users to have access to the channel or not only...

For example, "NJOI TV" channel only appears to those Njoi users, but Astro user's STB won't even see that channel appear as part of the channel list. That's why when you press CH100 on your Astro IPTV, it either show either "Channel doesn't exist/Invalid channel number" or it'll redirect you to TV1 (ch101).
*
Mainly because last time when they change channel number/ decoder UI update, they used ch100, so a potential for them to redirect to inform users about the ch updates too

Thank you so much  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
When the STB experiences unexpected power loss, it won't tune back to the last watched channel.
Instead, it will tune to the very first channel appear on the channel list.
That's why you see TV1 channel appears once the STB has boot up.

When the channel number is 100, the very beginning and very first channel on the channel list, the STB will automatically go to that channel too.

In theory, it's like forcing viewers to go to ch100 upon STB boot up especially after from unexpected power loss.
Which I think it's practical in the sense that it is important for existing viewers to be aware of it.
*
But if you have favorite channel, it’s going to go to the first favorite channel instead( forgot when that will apply)?

Edit: It actually defaults to the first favourite channel after unexpected power loss as if it prioritizes favourite channel then the first channel in the channel list

As usual, the "Related" section on Ultra Box will recommend those irrelevant channels/content to the user. It happens pretty much all the time, so I usually ignore the" Related" section completely.

And also, the issue that irritates me very much with Ultra Box is, Play from Start and cloud record are not available when the particular channel is just launch, or going to launch. This doesn't happen for PVR box.
user posted image
See? Play from Start button, and Record button is missing. doh.gif
Compare to Astro PVR box, you can record whatever you want/like, and very very hardly you'll see Astro PVR don't let you record any channel on Astro, except radio channels lol...

Astro's advice? Wait for few hours later, then only you can cloud record and Play from Start. doh.gif
I hate the fact that such ridiculous restrictions are imposed to cloud recording (not related to content rights one), while compared to PVR box, it gives me much more freedom.
I seriously still think that when it comes to programme recording, Astro PVR is more reliable in many ways. I really hope Astro will allow Ultra Box users to connect to an external hard disk to perform local recording soon, and I would ditch away Astro cloud recording for good sad.gif

-----

Btw, any legacy Astro box users here? Try check if your legacy Astro box are able to view this channel (ch100).
*
Seems like the channel is definitely available on NJOI with the weird thumbnail saying NJOI, Astro IPTV got the channel.... can record also( no series link) but the quality is bad in today's world.... I think it's even worse than youtube SD quality(480P)

Okay, okay....
According to our PM that recommends us watching HBO, now the movement control order (MCO, or partial lockdown) will be extended for another 2 weeks, until 14 April 2020.

I wonder would Astro also extends their complimentary viewing of all movies, news channels and free access to Astro Go to non-Astro customers until that date as well?
Also, what happens to those who facing difficulties on either their satellite dish misalignment or faulty Astro box? Technician can't be assigned until the MCO period is over...
If worst case scenario, especially those elderly people's homes where Astro is their primary method of entertainment, that's like almost 1 month of no Astro to watch.  rclxub.gif

Astro Go? If that person's home does not have Internet connection? Not familiar with using Astro Go? Finish la like that....  blink.gif

Not to mention that the legacy decoder is supposed to discontinued before April 1st for the need channel list?

Astro also probably going to get a lots of calls(if they are open) on April 1st

Official reply from Astro about the possible extension of complimentary viewing period:
The way they reply, it looks unusual to me, cuz usually Astro CS agents don't reply that way to customers.
Yet, they expect us to wait for their announcement to be revealed next week.  hmm.gif

Their usual copy paste replies is "Thank you for the suggestion. We'll forward your feedback to the relevant department...." things like that.

So what you guys think? Would they open even more channels, or all movie, news channels and 4 channels that both Astro and Njoi customers that has been opened, shall extend till that date?

Right now, there's another thing I find it also important is, I hope government would put an exception to allow telecommunication/broadcast technicians to continue carry out on-site job tasks.
There are quite an amount of Astro customers facing technical issues like misaligned satellite dish or faulty Astro boxes, giving them no choice but to stay at home without able to enjoy Astro service as usual.
And initially, they have no choice but to wait until the MCO overs at 1 April, yet now the MCO extends until 14 April.

Astro aside, imagine if your home Internet now experiences network down, like TM Unifi or Maxis Fibre having some network issues, causing you to unable to surf Internet normally?
Plus, if you work from home in that situation somemore, that will be even more GG. Technician can only come and visit your home from 14 April onwards. What does that make you feel?
Forced to use mobile hotspot, and then causes even more mobile network congestion and all.

Customer services were heavily affected, and the list goes on and on... I wonder how the government would manage about this.
