Yeah. For me even if I use a dedicated, business internet, Astro Plug and Play would throw me a 403 error after around half a day :V

Right now I plugged in the new Astro STB to a wifi controlled smart plug so that if it has any issues, I can just reset the damn box from my phone without me getting up to get the remote control

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Mar 26 2022, 12:34 AM) If the quality same as Astro Box then I am interesting, I hope the CS is wrong on this. FWIW, Sooka has introduced 1080p 50FPS stream. So it's likely that even if it does not have the same quality as the Astro Box, it would be similar to Sooka's (which actually piggybacks Astro's own stream anyway). In any case, it's still better than Astro Go's qualityI had 500Mbps Fibre, surely no issue on internet performance. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Mar 26 2022, 09:31 AM) Astro is so Greedy! Forget it, I will not buy then. Stupid! Astro think people will upgrade because of this! That's fucked up. because even on their website, the RM100 Multiroom TnC are only applicable if you want a physical box![]() Can't let everybody know already as Astro is greedy and demand for at least RM 100 per month spend just can activate the Astro Smart TV app. I will not upgrade my package for this. Silly and Greedy move by Astro. They are so desperate now! ![]() |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Mar 30 2022, 10:08 PM) Errr... So we should not simply log in log out our Astro Go account across different devices? FWIW, it really was introduced years ago. I remember using AotG and got this "you can only swap one device per month" stuff early on since I was testing it out on various laptops. But IIRC they removed this limitation after a while, and you can delete, swap in devices as you please. They must have re-introduced this quite recently then![]() I was like....????: ![]() doubleM2 liked this post

QUOTE(feed2doorsmhbm @ Apr 2 2022, 12:41 AM) Oh yeah and in Turkey, the Turkish language version of Disney Channel was ceased, along Disney Junior Brazil, Disney XD Latin America, National Geographic Wild Latin America, Star Life, FXM Latin America, Fox Life Español Latino (USA) and Nat Geo Kids on March 31, 2022. Also in South Africa, e.tv News and Sport was terminated broadcast on the same date (We know that WakuWaku Japan and the Hungarian version of MTV (Music) was gone as well, sad). Most of the Disney channels are ceased to be due to the launch of Disney+ (Hotstar if in this region). To be honest, most of the linear tv are now mostly catering for people that want to watch live contents, such as news and sports. In Francophone, the French version of Discovery Family was ceases operation on SRF TV, which is the date of 29th March 2022. On March 2, RT UK and RT France was gone on TV and RT America was disappeared as well on March 3. Please respond and reaction that, that means you (Josh) That being said, I am one of those old people that rather channel surf than use VOD. So channels being ceased left right and centre is kinda bad for my viewing style. |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Apr 2 2022, 04:28 PM) If you ask Astro, they'll say cannot because their TnC says so. for Ultra Box PnP, it's easier. Don't even need a house with a dish. But yeah, hush hushBut if you ask me, technically yes you can. As long that another house has Astro dish installed, it will still work even if you *cough* *cough* install it at another house. Just don't let Astro know that you do that lah. |

QUOTE(kkm @ Apr 6 2022, 03:44 PM) Certainly makes sense to Astro. Technically cost them the bandwidth/CDN/live re-encoding for multiple bitrate. but since they already built up that capacity for Astro Plug n Play, why not just utilise that for smart tv multiroom2nd decoder gets them 50 ringgit, got to supply decoder and maintain. This one you download and install yourself, no extra cost to them, yet they get 30 bucks for nothing... |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Apr 6 2022, 09:15 PM) Uh oh... Dear Astro, you got a new competitor 🤣... apparently from a startup company? Luckily it isn't available in Malaysia yet lol... Streaming aggreggators has existed for years tho. And most of them rarely do take off. Oneflix combines access to Netflix, HBO Max and more in one app https://www.fiercevideo.com/video/oneflix-c...nd-more-one-app For example, yesterday Plex has also launch it's own streaming aggregator built into it's app ![]() Heck, there is even a local version that works with local streaming services like Viu, Hotstar and WeTV, https://www.justwatch.com/my ![]() So yeah, there is nothing new in that news to be honest. And also aggregator is just that, an aggregator. It can't offer stream through the service itself, because these different streaming services have different ways to stream, and they certainly won't let a third party developer access it's authentication service This post has been edited by linkinstreet: Apr 6 2022, 10:25 PM |

SPOTV 2 is now on Channel 810, but looking through the listings, it looks like it's only for 2022 master It's not listing the upcoming WSBK race at Aragon this weekend ![]() doubleM2 liked this post

QUOTE(joshhd @ Apr 7 2022, 10:30 PM) I notice channel number around 810, 809 are usually pop-up/temporary sport channels. Yep. specific to Golf. Honestly tho Astro should just bite the bullet and add the damn channel alreadySo this time, I'm pretty sure that the SPOTV2 channel on Astro is just temporary. ![]() doubleM2 liked this post

QUOTE(joshhd @ Apr 8 2022, 09:28 AM) They are using SPOTV feed, as if you tune in to SPOTV2, they are showing the Live broadcast of the Masters at the same time. Seems that Astro pick and choose what they want to show |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Apr 8 2022, 08:14 PM) So expect some kind of "upscaling" on this contents??? Just look at all those old P Ramlee films la. None are converted to HD even after made digital. Just basic blurry upscaling that looks worse than when we were watching on old CRT TVsLike we see those retro contents in YT... It's "HD", but little "blur"??? Don't think astro invest huge $$$ to "convert" all those old contents into Digital HD format.... It's too costly.... |

joshhd As I noticed, SPOTV has very bad image quality that would go up and down.
Funnily enough, the SPOTV2 pop up channel that Astro has is much sharper and clearer than SPOTV's own main channel (channel 816) and SPOTV 2 on Unifi TV (vlan feed, not the UnifiTV web version). I presume this is due to Astro getting their own direct feed for the pop up channel. |

Astro bowed down to pressure, and will be showing WSBK on Supersport 5 later today, using SPOTV2 feed
![]() So the lesson here? Never be afraid to complain and nag Astro. Fight for your right as a consumer, but please, do it with respect. |

QUOTE(otnuus @ Apr 10 2022, 03:43 PM) What’s the difference between SPOTV2 and Supersport 5 channel? Does it requires different subscription? Astro does not pick up the option to carry SPOTV 2, meaning you can't subscribe to the channel unless you have UnifiTV, which do carry it. So when there are specific events that can only be viewed on SPOTV 2 due to rights, Astro would either do a pop up ad hoc channel (like for thr Golf Masters) or just specific events shown on the in house channel like WSBK. Note that Astro is also doing this with Bein Sports, with some Champion League matches are taken from Bein and shown on Astro SuperSport |
