ive been getting it for half a year now. 5 technician come.
First 2 same company, same people. As usual, climb roof, check the receiver, change new head, etc. yada yada.

He then request to drill hole in my house to change cable, i sat cannot, the cable is pretty new and installed by astro technician as well.. he say thirsty can get him drink or not.. i go out buy bottled water since covid, dun wan use glass (my mom guarding the house but dont know whats happening) come back that cibai drill gao my ceiling... nvm... change cable charge $ nevermind, change liao, drill liao still cannot watch, KNNCB. Then also nvm, that cibai even stole my farking screwdriver.. a SCREWDRIVER!

2nd time Astro customer service also sohai, say liao dont send same people, the exact same person came. he also lazy check, say i need to change my whole astro wiring from 0-100. He want to drill my whole house now.

3-4 Same shit.. they seems like more interested to just gain the fees charged to astro just to come over and change the box over and over again.

tomorrow is the 5th time. If not for my elderly parents i cut gao astro long long time ago. full of shit
*
You should record down since when you cannot watch Astro and ask Astro to reimburse back to the dateyou are able to watch.
But seriously, 5 times technician visit cannot solved? this is insane... my area technician seems very pro though. they check signal strength at the satellite end for receiver, and then check at the cable end for cable quality.

Hope your problem is solved soon.

Ok, just got my Ultra box installed today. But for some reason, it cant set to 4K or Auto (resolution). If set to 4K/Auto, my TV can't get the signal. What is the reason? Currently viewing it in 1080i.

Is your TV a 4K TV? If yes, then is your 4k TV recently purchase or old version, some old version may not support...

QUOTE(joshhd @ Apr 21 2021, 10:40 PM)
No doubt that S is Sirius TV, while M refers to MYTV / myFreeview / MYTV Broadcasting.
"I don't understand why NJOI is doing this..."
In order to know why they do this, unfortunately you will have to think from business perspective, not from consumer perspective. Be mentally prepared on what you're about to read below.

The reasons is pretty obvious
The overall company now is like: High operating costs + declining revenue
Of course, customers like us won't care them much anyway. So why they should bother care too much about us? That's the harsh reality. tongue.gif
So the reason why NJOI is doing this now is obvious: They want YOU to start paying for NJOI.
- Because paying RM15 per month is still better than paying RM0.00 per month.
- If Astro can't convince you to pay RM42.35 or RM65.00 monthly for its Family or Starter pack, then this RM15 per month is still better than nothing
- If you are already an NJOI user that pays RM0.00 every month, then technically you are "nothing" to them. Since you are already not paying them anything, so they ain't owing you anything (they don't hutang you anything).
- Don't want to use NJOI? Then stop watching la. Feeling like "spreading hate" or boycotting over NJOI? Nobody stop you. It doesn't cause any monetary damage to them also.
- Since some people don't want to pay for TV service, they have the option to watch digital TV channels (MYTV platform) by using UHF antenna, and it is free forever.
- They don't need to make NJOI to be "more attractive", because Astro/NJOI already knows themselves that their channel/content are already attractive to viewers. Well, except when it comes to money. 🙂

But.... Paying RM15 per month for getting the same channels...? confused.gif
Yes, they know you want to watch ALL channels in HD quality. But as an NJOI customer, you are not happy because there's no chance of enjoying them in HD.... until soon.
user posted image
But just RM15 for the sake of watching those channels in HD, not everyone would be convinced to start paying...
So it seems to me that what they plan to do soon is, they would "forcefully" include selected of those NJOI free channels as part of NJOI HD prepaid channels of RM15/month, including Prima, Oasis, AEC, Xiao Tai Yang, Awani, and even Hello and eGG Network.
Why I think that way, is because according to the flyer, those channels I just mentioned, doesn't seems to be part of NJOI free channels anymore (refer photo above)?

My wild guess is, this would probably apply to new NJOI sign ups only, whereby if you don't pay RM15/month for NJOI HD, it's likely that you langsung won't be able to watch those channels at all, not even in SD quality...?
Meanwhile for existing NJOI viewers would still continue to enjoy free NJOI channels in SD as it is now?  hmm.gif But it would be a matter of time for them to "slowly migrate" existing NJOI users to start paying. Will see how it goes la... 😄

"Ughhh, those 18 free channels are boring..."
Boring? Then start paying RM15 per month lah. End of story. 🙂
Don't want to pay? Then good luck enjoying free-to-air channels from RTM, Media Prima, TVS, Awesome TV and so on, cuz that what's they left for you for paying RM0.00 every month.
And hey, they still let you watch Go Shop channels for free 😁

NJOI starting to shift its business?
Since NJOI started its free-to-view satellite TV service back in 2012, and Malaysians have been enjoying free satellite TV service from NJOI for almost 10 years, it also means most of you are already familiar with NJOI service and would already "hooked up" on NJOI channel offerings already.
So if one day (and that day is very soon to me), NJOI now tells you "Want to continue watching those channels? We offer you these channels now, on top of it, it is in HD quality, for RM15 per month."
For sure, some would be willing to pay for it (cuz they find it worthwhile for many reasons), while some don't.
This is called, business strategy.  thumbup.gif

How about TV1, TV2 and TVS?
Hmm, luckily shaun_kok pointed out about TV1, TV2 and TVS, cuz I almost forgot that this 3 channels is still in SD quality on NJOI 😓
It seems to me that it will still in SD as it is, even if you pay RM15 for NJOI HD? I don't know, I just interpret according to flyer photo above. 😓
But to think again, TV1, TV2 and TVS channels itself, is basically not "owned" by Astro.
So I guess, it is up to RTM and TVS's decision on how they negotiate with Astro/NJOI, whether to allow all NJOI viewers to watch the channels in HD for free, or continue as SD as it is now. 🤔

NJOI starting to compare itself... with Sirius TV now?
The upcoming satellite pay TV service from another company, Sirius TV, although it is still in test transmission now, but NJOI starts to compare its offerings with them so soon already. 🤣
user posted image
Who knows later NJOI would offer something similar like Sirius TV... Let's say you pay a one-off of around RM399, you'd get NJOI prepaid HD channels for 12 months. And then from 13th month onwards, whether you want to pay RM15 for 30 days to continue watching those channels or not, it is up to you.
So yeah, NJOI is levelling up their game. I wonder how Sirius TV would react to that 😅

The comparison table above, errr, kinda inaccurate?
First of all, where on Earth did they know Sirius TV offers exactly 18 channels? At the point of writing, Sirius TV is still on test transmission and it has 11 channels up on air now.
According to some reliable sources, Sirius TV plans to launch up to 30 channels soon. What would be the 30 channels, that is still remain to be seen.
"Komitmen Bulanan" (Monthly Commitment) of RM20/month. Really? Did Sirius TV said that customers will be "committed" to pay RM20 every month?
user posted image
Source: https://siriusmalaysia.tv/residential/
"Ketersediaan dalam HD" (HD Ready), and NJOI indicate it as a "X" means No. Are they saying that Sirius TV's set-top-boxes is not capable of HD, or don't have HD channel at all? What nonsense is this?
Meanwhile for "Jenama M" (referring to MYTV/myfreeview digital TV), it only indicate it as a "tick", while NJOI HD has 10 HD channels.
Guess what, MYTV/myFreeview digital TV has a total of 12 HD channels at the point of writing.

Looks that Astro/NJOI marketing team need to do more research before comparing with competitor's services.

So what's gonna happen next?
We'll just have to watch closely and wait for further announcements.
As usual lah, Astro is a tight-lipped company for some reasons, and it doesn't matter to them even we hate it. Even NJOI's website (https://www.njoi.com.my/home) still doesn't mention anything about it (as of point of writing).
We shall embrace the end of free-to-view NJOI satellite TV service soon. It doesn't matter you like it or hate it, cuz it will happen anyway.
*
Very well analyzed. In short, Astro don't care about free loaders....

Hmmm... I have no comment about that then.
Anyway, thanks for filing a complaint to MCMC. It proves that MCMC complaint is working, like, for real. biggrin.gif
*
Astro will always try their best to compensate customer if complaint through MCMC.
But I'm just wondering to what extent. getting rebate for 1 month bill is quite alot, they may have just offer refund for just that package during that period of time which will be far less.

If the customer do not take the compensation (not satisfy), will they then just give up , maybe refund 2 or 3 months of subscription fee paid and then ask the customer to stop subscribing? devil.gif

Email from astro indicates my pack will be revised by RM5 from 1st June. They also mention Apk fro Disney wl be added to ultrabox by December. I wonder till then how will be Disney enabled for us?Will it be an Added channel?
*
Yeah... this is a very good question, it will be kind of defeat the purpose if customer is charged but not able to enjoy the Disney+ on TVs...
Accessing from phone or tablet (AstroGo & HBO Go) is good to have but should not be the only way until they integrate into their astro decoder box by end of the year.

Hopefully they will implement some AOD for the series and movies of Disney+ start next month

Maybe I didn't read properly.....I have Ultra Box (with multi PVR) with Super Pack 1.

1.
- Especially for those who subscribe to Super Pack Lite (Movies),  Super Packs or Super Pack Plus customers, you will also be getting RM5 increase on your Astro bill starting June 2021, even if don't use Disney+ Hotstar.

2.
Disney+ Hotstar app will be available on Ultra and Ulti Box later this year.

So, we are practically forced to pay additional RM5 ,even we can't watch another few months.  flex.gif
*
Yep... that is a lot of subscribers concern including myself.
But we customer will have no information until the dates draws closer.

A possible scenario is that some of the Disne + Hotstar movie/programe will be on AOD that can be stream directly like the moview on HBO go (finger crossed)

Seems like Astro's server's issue to me... Which exact shows you're facing this issue? Let me try test it on my on Ultra Box, see whether got issue as you described or not...

And also, how about streaming that particular show on Astro Go? Do you guys face the same issue too?

Ya... seems like server issue.
Last time when Justice League Snyder cut release, I also encounter similar issue... but after few days then resolve.

Get ready guys.
It seems the US Media Conglomerates are having a big shakeup.
Amazon buying MGM, NBC Universal/Comcast possibly buying Viacom-CBS and the latest one AT&T shed off WarnerMedia and merge with Discovery.
All these news happened thanks to Disney-FOX deal.
The smaller ones being eat up by these big media companies.
If all of these happen, that means we will have less streaming services to think of.
But what makes me worried is these streaming services will jack up in price due to many contents being fold into one.
Let us wait and see what happens in the future.
*
Interesting... maybe next time package being offer is no longer, movie package, variety, kids, discovery... etc.
Instead, the package maybe is Disney + package, Amazon package, netflix package... laugh.gif

Opps... I forgot that Astro Vellithirai is actually still 4:3. So sorry  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
Ok, since Astro TVIQ is surprisingly upgraded to HD starting today, so here I compiled some channel updates. Hope I didn't miss anything...  sweat.gif

***All info below are deemed accurate at the point of writing:

List of remaining Astro in-house SD channels that still transmits in native 4:3 aspect ratio format
Although almost all 16:9 content is displayed as "Fit to screen" (no black bars shown on top/bottom), but the overall channel UI, channel logo, channel ident, subtitles, is actually still in 4:3.
- Astro Vellithirai
- Astro Tutor TV UPSR
- Astro Tutor TV PT3
- Astro Tutor TV SPM
- Astro AOD 352
- Astro AOD 353
- Astro AOD 354
- Astro AOD 355
- iNjoi (Channel 140, only available for Njoi viewers)

Total: 9

SD only channels
These foreign TV channels doesn't offer the channels in HD quality.
- ART Variety
- Makkal TV
- Chutti TV
- Adithya TV
- Celestial Classic Movies*
- ABC Australia

Total: 6
*Selected classic movie titles available in HD quality when streaming on VOD or Astro Go.

HD quality is available "elsewhere", but Astro still transmit the channels in SD quality only
Why this happens? This one you should ask the respective broadcaster/channel provider instead (i.e. Media Prima, RTM...), not Astro.

- TV3
- TV Al Hijrah
- TV Okey
- NTV7
- 8TV
- TV9
- Bernama

Total: 7

HD on Astro, but SD on NJOI
- TV1*
- TV2*
- Astro Prima
- Astro Oasis
- TVS*
- Astro Vaanavil
- Astro Xiao Tai Yang
- Astro AEC
- CCTV 4
- Astro Awani
- Astro Arena

Total: 11
*However, NJOI viewers can also enjoy these list of channels in HD quality when subscribe to NJOI HD Prepaid of RM15 / 30 days, except TV1, TV2 and TVS.
As of now, NJOI viewers have no way to watch TV1, TV2 and TVS in HD quality, unless if upgrade to Astro monthly subscription, or watch it on myFreeview digital TV platform, or online platforms instead.

Total number of SD channels (incl. iNjoi CH140, and simulcast SD for NJOI Free SD viewers): 33
Total number of HD channels (excl. Astro First/Best, 3x Astro Go channels and 1 UHD channel): 117

- Pop-up channels like Jackie Chan ch400 or Astro SuperSport ch810, is not counted as part of "permanent HD channels".

Total actual number of linear TV channels that Astro offers: 140

- SD/HD simulcast channels (e.g. Astro Prima SD ch125 and HD ch105) is counted as 1 channel instead of 2 channels.
- Pay-per-view channels like Astro First and Astro Best is excluded from the calculation.
- 3 Astro Go exclusive channels is excluded from the calculation (K+, France 24, DW English)

*
This is one neat tabulation of all the channel in SD.

When it comes to piracy, yeah, I personally discourage people from pirating bcuz of intellectual property and copyright stuff, but people will still do it anyway.
I usually encourage people to search and consume content from legal services first, like Astro Go, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar...
If don't have, then use VPN to bypass geoblock restrictions you'll have to find other ways to watch it la.

Although it is deem illegal, but I doubt that we will see such android box exit or disappear from market.
In Malaysia, execution or implementation is usually lagging far behind....

Can anyone also confirm it only impacts 4K contents? Bcs I'm using a HDTV for now, not 4KUHD. So I'm quite concerned. If it doesn't impact usual HD channels and usual recording then I don't mind. But if even HD channels also cannot means I have to cancel kot. 4K can wait but if HD channels and HD VODs along with recording got impacted means I have to cancel the installation la.
*
There is no way to confirm....
Another method is just schedule for the installation. If after installation cannot use, then reject it and use back the old device.
There should not be any additional charges.

So I just got upgraded to Ultra. However, the installer did not make any changes to the antenna. He just came and replaced the PVR to Ultra as if they work as usual (and it actually did). Shouldn't they change some kind of item on the antenna?
*
Yes they should.
You check your ultra menu decoder setting... is the LNB change to dCSS.
I think that if without dCSS, you will not be able to watch live 4K content.

If you confirm they didn't change it. call to Astro customer service to filed for complaint.
It is likely the installer forget (sangka baik) or they just take your dCSS LNB to be sold to others.
