Movies developed by Marvel (especially Avengers) are grounded in science... And the Jargon they used are actual scientific terms with possibilities (though some figures cannot be achieve, 100 Million Kelvin is not possible)... actual scientist actually advising them/Weadon... Which is why scientifically (logically) it is a solid movie.
As oppose to the disaster (scientifically) X-Men 3/Wolverine/1st class by Fox... Writers have absolutely Zero scientific background in Biology. Such a shame and it's one of Marvel's comic gem. It's also a reason why Norton's Hulk is less grounded than Ang Lee's. This post has been edited by BeastX: May 23 2012, 09:24 PM |

QUOTE(defaultname365 @ May 23 2012, 11:45 PM) I don't believe it. It's TDKR. It's almost impossible for TDKR to reach Avengers level... with no 3D surcharge, non-family/kids oriented |

what's this about this will higher, "no, that will be higher grossing film".
If anyone likes it, go watch it again to help support, again & again if you have too. For me it doesn't make it any better knowing its the higher or potential to whack the other film to add to my appeal. Much has been said darker films tend usually does not to have a wide® appeal. The Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars 2) was acclaimed to be the best SW film but grossed a lot lesser then the other SW films. Even IF TDKR doesn't reach top grossing film of the year surpassing avengers or avatar or whatever, it shouldn't be dismissed as failure (to some). Go watch it, if its as good as TDK or better, we will all enjoy it. All this banter or who is higher or will surpass in gross is... |

A predictable and average movie with no kick to it! Not going to go into details as I can barely remember the movie and no thanks for any 2nd trip, movie download or BD purchase suggestions as it's not worth it, to me, that is.
Summer blockbuster movies, especially the anticipated ones, have just gone to a new low, in recent months. This one may have broken records, monetarily speaking, but that has no effect over my experience with this movie. Unlike others, I don't feel good watching a lousy movie, albeit a record breaking one. Between this and Ghost Protocol for entertainment value, I go with the mission, with or without the briefing. Now that this movie is done, Prometheus, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises are next, so let’s see how good these movies are. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « On the other hand, even if The Dark Knight Rises breaks the record, if it's a lousy movie, it'll still be a lousy movie to me. My point it, movies are for personal entertainment. Whether one likes a movie or not, it's a personal preference. Respect should be given to opinion This post has been edited by spartacvs: May 25 2012, 07:57 PM |

QUOTE(BeastX @ May 24 2012, 07:46 PM) Let me put it another way.... Pop corn movies don't win big in awards. The most it gets it's honorable mention in special effect, but winning will be difficult as movies like hobbit and prometheus with far better technical achievements already evident on their trailers.Don't think superhero comic book movies will fare well in any script and acting category either.Usually is all the high drama and great acting that gonna win here.Costume also can not compete to the level of detail in hobbit.I couldn't remember a single memorable bit of The Avengers music score. As for best film director, usually reserve for auteur which Joss Whedon is not one yet.Editing in The Avengers is nothing unusual or outstanding. The Avengers will get more nominations and may win more in both awards (and there's golden globe awards too) Not forgetting Quentin's Django also coming out this year and Alfonson Cuaron's Gravity which has early buzz that it's gonna phenomenon.James Cameron and Guillermo Del Toro were blown away by it.So what could The Avengers possibly win in these prestigious awards. The Avengers is built to rule the box office, not to win awards and the "big" awards don't give a darn about summer blockbuster action movies anyway.

QUOTE(trinityz @ May 25 2012, 02:32 PM) TDKR can never beat The Avengers. Have you even looked at Bane? It's so funny. Heck, TDKR cannot even beat TDK. OK, I admit it. It will be a monumental task for any movie to beat "The Avengers" total cumulative gross. Now, no way is the total gross of a film indicative of how good a film is. So, all these figures are just... ka ching in the pockets of the respective film makers. Or you can look at it as how popular a film is on whatever medium it is presented on (3D, IMAX, etc.). |

QUOTE(ray148 @ May 25 2012, 07:49 PM) yeah...i'd argue TDK great box office figure was because of Heath Ledger's death for the most part... Yup.. You need the "it" factor.. For TDK, it was Heath Ledger. For Avengers, it's the first ever superhero ensemble movie. Dont think Avengers 2 would do as well. One wonders... How much would Avengers make if Ed Norton stayed as Hulk |
