Didn't know got so many Disney and WB shareholders here; all eyeing a share of the big blockbuster's earnings and awards.

Prometheus is rated R, no way in hell will it beat The Avengers or TDKR. Even if it were rated PG13, it's not going to break 300million simply because the young generation won't even comprehend the hype, having never seen (or heard) of the first Alien.

I don't think TDKR will beat Avengers. Avengers is tracking below TDK weekday-by-weekday, but Avengers has it totally beat on weekends. Plus I believe TDK's gross owe a lot to the Joker, both in terms of the character, which is arguably one of the most iconic villains around (comic fan or not), and Ledger's portrayal of it and his death.

Yup.. You need the "it" factor.. For TDK, it was Heath Ledger.

For Avengers, it's the first ever superhero ensemble movie. Dont think Avengers 2 would do as well.

One wonders... How much would Avengers make if Ed Norton stayed as Hulk  hmm.gif

Quite A LOT of us were disappointed Edward Norton is not the Hulk. Thats bcoz we grown to love him over the 2 hours of The INCREDIBLE HULK. suddenly changing actors... sad.gif

You know it's kinda unfair sad.gif If Nolan were to shoot TDKR in 3D, it would have a decent chance to beat even Avatar's domestic record let alone The Avengers! I'm in a dilemma, I want TDKR to gross high yet I don't want to watch it in 3D haha.

I think most of you all are going in too deep. sweat.gif

Whether TDKR will big a bigger hit than The Avengers or not remains to be seen. Same goes for Prometheus. And its not about the movie ratings, its not about the performance alone - its the whole package that comes with the movie. I never thought TDK was a huge hit after watching Batman Begins but TDK did redefine Batman in a better way than most superhero movies. The Avengers was a huge hit because (and its obvious) all the heroes into one team - who doesn't want to watch a movie with their favorite heroes in it? Imagine putting "Superman", "Wonder Woman" & "Batman" in a team and what will happen? I bet even if before The Avengers was made and Justice League of America was a movie "first" and directed by Joss Whedon himself of the same team, it will have the same effect and a box-office hit.

Now MIB3 is taking over the box-office in North America and soon we will know who will hit number one when Prometheus is release (same goes for every other Summer Movies)

What the... "Prometheus" is rated R? doh.gif It's definitely going to hurt it commercially. Anyways, "The Avengers" will be tough to beat, but I am still convinced there are contenders this year...

Obama on "The Avengers" (yes, he has seen it!)

Should be 55Million (1st week) vs 200.7Million (1st week).... and not 37Million (4th week).... MIB is fully (100%) expected to take the crown... but 55Million vs 37 Million was a rather poor start for MIB3 and a good staying power of Avengers... Monday being a holiday in US will bring in big numbers/figures too...

Avengers will pass US BO TDK Wed/Thu this week.... and expected to reach 600Million .... Overseas...maybe not be enough to touch Potter 8... but @ 900M is a real possibility.... So, Avengers's total is likely to be at around 1.5 billion.

If you're fan of the film and just so happen to not own any of the Avengers' individual film on BD, this will be fantastic. Should be pricey, but you get what you paid for and more.
