u do realize im talking about TVs right?? not monitors? and the rig's main purpose is as HTPC+torrent. gaming is just a bonus kinda thing...imagine gaming on a 42" screen so im not too concerned with games on that rig. just wanted something to be able to support current (n hopefully future) games for some time more.

thought about it...but since that rig doesnt have a GC and needs one...so might as well la. also that rig will have a 160+320gig...so enough laaaaaaaaaa..

besides...i always either burn or delete the files i download. i just need a big space so that i can store them til i get around to burning/ deleting them...which i dont do often

yes, i do agree that the advantages of LCD may be more than the CRT. It juz when i saw tat issue comes out, i feel a bit unsatisfy..

I dunno about lcd or crt which is better, I buy a LCD because it looked cool and fresh on my table compared to a CRT

CRT is bulky, but to be frank, CRT's color is better than LCD's.

oc'ed my 8600gt to 700/860mhz, getting 6782 marks in 3dmark06.. is that a nice one? But my load temp peak at 86c... which is quite damn high... which cooler should i use? Plan to get one in pcfair. But if i change the hsf, will i void the warranty?

can post ur 3dmark05 scores? 06 is cpu dependant so cant really judge the GC alone.

05 is not that CPU dependant. would like to know as i have an 8600 coming to me as well.

U could try out Zalman's or the thermalright cooler..but i dont think there will be any gpu cooler during pc fair

Peak temp is 86'C with OC?! Mine is 93'C without OC Still figuring out on how to reduce the temp.

i have an 8600GT OC Edition on the way and i wonder what the temps are gonna be like...especially since itll be placed inside a SFF (Microfly) case. but at least the cooler on the card look promising.

don have 05 o.. maybe go download tonite. My temp at idle is around 57c if cool day, normal day is 59c, now which i consider quite heaty is 62c.

Your idle temp almost same with mine. I just installed a 120mm intake fan, the temp drop by 1'C but my chipset temparature increase by 2 - 3'C !!!
i think the problem is the gc itself, the air is blowing in opposite direction of the intake fan...perhaps the newly installed fan created turbulent in my casing when the air crash with the gc air...need to do some analysis to solve this problem. Modifying the casing should be the only way to solve this matter...sad.......

lolz.... u need some exhaust maybe. I just duno which cooler should i change to...

Problem is............. CRTs are very small n who on earth is gonna want a 30" behemoth CRT on the worktable even if it did exist. The table oso will picah lar if got 30" CRT. Also just imagine the amount of electricity it wud consume. Not very friendly to the planet eh.
I just finished Lost Planet n I didnt see any such purple color shaking shaking thingamajigs. Mebe it was ur drivers?
