QUOTE(Chris9838 @ Aug 10 2018, 07:31 AM) Yeah saw that. I seldom buy from KK Mart though, even if I do will use Boost now since there's promo. QUOTE(Xaser_3 @ Aug 10 2018, 08:37 AM) Yes, you are right. After examining and zooming in the picture to have a closer look, so does this mean we can actually start using our MY WeChat wallet at KK Mart's? Yes as tested earlier by fellow forummer but not all branches have yet. |

QUOTE(Xaser_3 @ Aug 10 2018, 02:30 PM) However, this round I'll not be going to first or second tier city. I will land at Guilin this round and go to different smaller cities for holidays for 9 days.Well, their e-wallets acceptance is pretty high nationwide, I presume no issue. My first time to this province. |

QUOTE(touristking @ Aug 12 2018, 10:05 PM) I was told, without your own China card linked to your China wallet, there is a limit you can spend per day or per transaction. Even if you have plenty of money in your wallet, you can't use it. I Googled and WeChat FAQ says RMB 1k per day and RMB 2k per month, however I have transferred RMB 1.5k with one transaction to my aunt's China relative 2-3 months ago. No issue at all. Most of my payments in China were usually paid by my best friend and I have not used my wallet more than RMB 2k so far, I will try to use as much as I can this time. QUOTE(tanaumaga @ Aug 13 2018, 02:22 AM) Had a China trip lately, limit is definitely rmb 1k per day, but not 2k per month Thanks for the tips. If one day RMB 1k per day and not RMB 2k per month I'm still OK. I can alternate both WeChat and AliPay. But if u have a transaction more than 1k, or the transaction will bring ur total spending to more than 1k, it will still go through, n will block u starting from the next one Block for that day only right? Next day will reopen? |

QUOTE(tanaumaga @ Aug 13 2018, 12:27 PM) OK cool No preference but I used WeChat more because I had issue with AliPay earlier. Now just solved the issue with AliPay and will be my first time using AliPay in China this time. I do see more discounts with AliPay. |

I still hope WeChat can develop like the one in China. One app for everything and not only for chatting.
They have e-hailing, bike sharing, bills payment, hospital queue system, airport luggage pick up, tickets purchase and many more with the app. |

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Aug 22 2018, 10:16 PM) You can put your hopes on Boost for that, it's local so it's easier for them to provide more localized services, now they already provide bill payments and parking payment. Yes, Boost is doing good. Wechat (Tencent) can achieve that in China is simply because they're close with the government right? Well, China only has two e-wallets which I think is a good approach, hence they will focus on functionalities rather than building a half baked app and abandon it. |

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Aug 23 2018, 09:18 AM) Well, I don't really support monopoly or duopoly (if I'm using the right word), competition is indeed good for the end consumers. But somehow I feel that when it comes to e wallets here, it's not really a good idea to have too much of them in the market, things are getting divided because of it, especially with merchants. Also, e wallet is still at it's infant stage here, so there's not much awareness, so when some people are willing to try using e wallets but chose the crappy ones (you know the ones I'm talking about without naming them), they will generalize and come up with the conclusion that e wallet is useless here when there are decent ones around. Well, I wasn't referring to the monopoly but more to building matured and useful e-wallets. China is definitely the best example when it comes to e wallets, there are only two major ones. You can either use one of them or use both, both are superior and everything is unified. Malaysia has too many and some in BNM list, I haven't heard before.. |

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Aug 23 2018, 09:49 AM) I know, but what China doing is kinda close to monopoly, I dunno what happened there in the first place but I don't believe there were only Tencent and Alibaba who came up with the e wallet idea, for sure there were many who wanted to join the bandwagon to get their slice of pie on the market but seemed like the government stopped that from happening and controlled the market until there are only 2 major ones until now. Not too sure because I started seeing the trend in 2013... If that's true, I would prefer that way to be done here as well. QUOTE(chanlman @ Aug 23 2018, 09:51 AM) I liked this thought when local consumers demanding a matured platform. BNM allowing 30+ emoney issuers to operate eventually will make these companies act like local banks, to be regulated in every features, limitations on this and that. Exactly. I cannot forget the look of the merchants when I told them I wanted to pay in cash, took out RMB 100, they said no small change. I asked again can pay with CC? They straight shrugged me off and said why not Alipay or WeChat? Adoptions by small medium merchants will be the key of success, just look at China's wet markets, food stalls etc. Ewallet is a volume game, small values, high traffic, and easy to forget. Small biz owners cannot afford to have 5 or 6 QR codes at their stalls to keep track their income or sales. It's a nightmare if this is what BNM wants to achieve. Unless BNM wants only the up-market E-wallet users to spend in places like convinient stores, shopping malls, restaurants, urban lifestyles etc. Only this big merchants can afford multiple terminals, scanners, consolidated POS and share benefits with emoney issuers. I believed locals kind hearted people also wanted to help these small business owners, make their lives better, giving more emoney to stall owners, no small change needed, no receipt, just give, take and go. Hope more M'sian have same thoughts rather than thinking how I can be benefited from using E-wallet. That's how high the adoption rate is. BNM really needs regulation on this and not by allowing 10 different types of e-wallets in the market. QUOTE(uglyduckling422 @ Aug 23 2018, 10:42 AM) Cannot. |
