Finally got the prompt message for region change. Activated and loaded some money into the wallet. All went smooth with verification submitted for the 4999 limit.
I think most if not all should get already the wallet for malaysia right ?

My wechat previously no Wallet, now suddenly got wallet, when I click in, it it Malaysia wallet.. n it seem like I’ve no way to change region to China after this

May I ask, are you saying if someone give you angpau, you will have Wechat wallet even though you don't have China bank card and China phone number?

On my Wechat and when I search Wallet, it show a Yuan Wallet and not able to use because no China card and number.

If someone from China want to send me money, is it possible if I don't have a China wallet?
Also if they send me angpow, can I withdraw it? I'm not sure how this works.

just got my MY region in verification process. my China version was working for couples years.

question: any charges if i transfer fund from MY to MY via wechat? in china version is free.

  its convenient when go out lunch, just scan QR then pay the divided bills to colleague. maybank also can do it but good if all can use same UI like wechat.

Since there is no way I can get a Wechat China wallet, can we use Alipay instead as a tourist to China?

Is Alipay as widely used as Wechat for taxi and street vendors etc in China? Got to find a way for China usage.

While I do have a China bank card, I don't have a China mobile number.

Any China friend's  phone number? Shouldn't that mobile number be the one registered with the China bank?

GREAT NEW!!! Just found my wechat with Malaysia Wallet now can sent "Ang Pow" to ppl...

Not sure is true or not...so far I only found this new feature on ios device.

It's not that they need more merchants, it's that they NEED merchants, so far there's literally no merchants that accept it. You might see some stores actually have the Wechat Pay sticker, but it's in Chinese, doubt it's gonna work with our local wallet.

No "red packet" on mine btw.
Wechat already gave up on their head start, they could've started everything when there was hype, and now the hype is gone, they still keep leaving us hanging on waiting since like forever.

What I hope now is Boost can expand to more mainstream merchants which they are doing right now, better if they can collaborate with most supermarkets, fast food chains (now available on Wendy's and Burger King) and convenience stores (available on KK mart), once they can do that then it's a straight goodbye to Wechat Pay, they can keep slacking off and do nothing if that's what they wanna do.

As for Grabpay, they're also expanding aggressively, but doubt it can defeat Boost cuz not everyone uses Grab. I do use Grab occasionally, but don't think I'm gonna try it.

So far, the best e wallets are Boost and Favepay.
