Bro
How i get my MYR wallet static QR code?
*
I hope I understand your question correctly, you mean your own QR code which people can scan it and send the money to you?

I don't think our version has it, only can be done via Money Packet, which is also only for Malaysia Wallet.

As I mentioned earlier, during user registration, there's phone number detection which identified the keyed in phone number is a Malaysian mobile phone number.

Apart from that, I didn't use WeChat Wallet before.
The only thing I got is to receive an ang pow from my China friend.
The default wallet is set to RMB.
*
I think they're enabling the wallet to users by batch, you're probably quite behind in terms of batches, just my theory though.

Otherwise I can't think of any reason that you still can't get your wallet enabled yet.

As long you installed your app from Play Store/App Store, and registered your local phone number and set your region as Malaysia from the start, then you're confirmed identified as a Malaysian user.

Again, the only thing you can do is to wait, I guess.

Still enabling by batch? And it was since June 2018? OMG!
*
Well, I believe there are tons of users in Malaysia, probably that's why they have to enable it from batch to batch of users.

You know what happened yesterday, their server obviously couldn't handle the amount of users claiming the free money packets, let alone handling the amount of users reloading money to their wallet and registering their identity verification and such.

Just my theory though, can be taken with a grain of salt.

Frankly speaking, they're now worse than Tony's BP.
*
Well, since their long delay of enabling wallets to users and then to the delay of official launch (which already happened recently) and then to the lack of info on which merchants that accept it, we already know how well their team handles the service here.

Boost is the way to go for now, but I'm giving Wechat a chance just because they have potential.

Boost is doing best as of now.
But from Boost thread, they start to slacking now.
Their CS is starting to be less responsive!
*
From my experience with their CS, they were very helpful. But
judging from the complaints from the users so far, I have a feeling they're starting to become cocky because of their current achievement, hope I'm wrong.

There's nothing to write home about for having "3 million Boosties" when most of it are using it for the cashbacks.

Err... not sure if it's me you wanna reply to.

Anyway, seems like it's a better idea to lower down our expectation on how well this will MY version will work out. I guess a lot of us have our hopes up since we've been reading way too many success stories coming from China & subconsciously expected the same level of seamless transition here.
*
I gotta admit I had high expectations on Wechat Pay here, but not anymore thanks to their long delay before and the current situation. But I can say that it's not gonna do well here for the time being, not sure about after few years though. Wechat Pay in China is successful because everything is unified there in terms of the services that Wechat provides, and also the fact that literally everyone there uses Wechat.

Unlike here, bunch of useless e wallets flooding the market.

Just hope for the best on Wechat Pay and Boost to be our daily app in the future, even though the experience of using e wallet here isn't good, but I still enjoy using it.

well, it remains to be seen how wechat pay can be different from boost. if mostly the same, then boost has wider coverage.
*
So far, Wechat Pay is just your typical e wallet that's just embedded into your Wechat, what it can do is almost the same as other e wallets. Boost still wins in terms of wider coverage (although not that wide tbh), cashbacks and shake rewards.

I'm willing to bet that Boost will be leading the e wallet market here for the next few years, but if they keep up with their aggressive expansion and cashback promotions of course.

Also, one thing that Wechat Pay here lacks is that they still don't have the payment type where we users can pay by scanning the merchant's code, this is really useful for smaller merchants like pasar malam stalls and food trucks, just like what Boost is doing, but I believe they will sort this out soon, they better sort out their current issues first.

QUOTE(David83 @ Aug 22 2018, 06:11 PM)
The best e-wallet I have so far is Samsung Pay if it is even considered as e-wallet.
Now I'm trying Boost but in Penang, it has very limited coverage. I can't utilize to full extend but based on current usage experience, it's still above average!
As for BP and WeChat Pay, they're a the bottom of the list.
*
Samsung Pay is more to mobile payment, similar to Favepay (although recognized as an e wallet by many), just that Samsung Pay is way superior because of the way it works.

Btw, there's no KK in Penang right?

KK Supermart?

https://kkgroup.my/others.html

None in Penang Island.
*
I wonder why though, not that Penang Island is a small city, even some smaller towns have KK mart.

KK mart is basically the store to go if you like using e wallets.

Better hope 7e, Mynews, 99 speedmart etc. will accept Boost and Wechat Pay soon.

whats about Mybank QRpay? TouchNgo?
Maybe i should try Boost and Favepay.
*
IMO, the e wallets to avoid currently are Maybank QRpay, TnG, Vcash, Kiplepay and other lesser known ones. They serve not much purpose other than hogging your phone storage.

There's a chance that you will install TnG, if they get their RFID and QR Transit (public transport) right, of course.

Boost and Favepay are the way to go for e wallets, Wechat Pay is still gonna be in your Wechat anyways so it wouldn't matter if you use it or not.

I ditched Maybank. Maybank is no longer my favourite bank.

Failed to register TnG App when they first deployed the app that supports reloading physical card via the app but it was recalled.
Now the TnG App is purely a e-wallet of its own with no linkage to the physical TnG card I believe.
*
TnG did introduce a solution for that but it was a stupid one, after you reloaded the app, you gotta purposely look for a dedicated machine and transfer the amount from the app to the TnG card via that dedicated machine. After the massive amount of negative ratings, they scrapped it thank goodness.

However, someone did mention that we will be able to link our TnG card to the app next year.

haha, too many wallets and so confusing...

Still Korea and Hong Kong did the best thimgs with NFC, can buy cheap items with phone linked with just 1 card.
*
I guess it starts with the people's mentality in that particular country.

Like South Korea, people there prefer to pay using debit/credit cards for everything, even for a bottle of mineral water in a convenience store.

Like Hong Kong, they are lucky to have a unified card payment service like Octopus which is supported in almost everywhere, basically the company behind Octopus did everything right from the start, unlike our bloody money sucking TnG.

Also an extra mention to Japan, with their unified card payment service like Suica, basically a card that can be used almost everywhere, and can be linked to your Apple Pay or Google Pay.

With these kind of cashless societies, many people there are comfortable when paying by phone.

But we're not, cuz cash is still king for us.

It's kinda weird, no? It's like almost every Tom, Dick & Harry Ali, Ah Kao & Muthu are totally aware on what the gap in Malaysia is & at the same time, the recipe to success seems to have been laid bare for all to copy. Hire a good CS with good response time & that's like maybe 50% of the battle won?

Unfortunately, based on the few eWallets that have sprouted up in Malaysia, none of them have yet to get this right. sweat.gif
*
That's not just a problem with e wallets, same thing can be applied with the CS from other services too.

The slacking off attitude is still common here unfortunately.

QUOTE(David83 @ Aug 22 2018, 07:11 PM)
TnG is a total failure.
They tried to mimick HK and SK but failed miserably.
With their closed environment business model, it is not going to leap anywhere forward.
Hope with the new government, they realize that they cannot be staying at the same technological time point forever!

Both merchant and consumers need to pay active role.
Cashless or mobile payment is a long way to go for MY.
*
Basically, most Malaysians are still more comfortable with paying by cash. Most ppl here will only try out new stuffs when there's a hype for it, and also when there's something to get in return.

yeah, agree. I am one of those who is lazy to install so many app and e-wallet in my phone taking up all my phone memory.
I am so loyal to my 'principle' that I only have WeChat installed in my phone, and no Whatsapp. LOL!
that is why I still hope very much that WeChat Pay Wallet to improve and be as good as its counterpart in China.

Now I have Boost installed in my phone simply because of its cashback reward. I doubt I will use it once the cashback reward ends..
*
Well, I can't stop you, but hope you can try to stick with Boost.

I think they're one of the few who still gives hope and potential for e wallet usage here.

If you're willing to use Wechat Pay without the goodies, pretty sure using Boost isn't a problem for you either after the cashback reward ends (if that's what they're gonna do of course).

He not alome, myself also dislike whatsappin the past.
But now due to majority Malaydians using whatsapp, then no choices lo.

QUOTE(David83 @ Aug 22 2018, 09:17 PM)
In contrary, actually I don't like WeChat.
The most annoying gesture with WeChat is when people talking to each other using the walkie-talkie approach! doh.gif
*
For me, I dislike Whatsapp and hate FB Messenger.

I dislike Whatsapp because of the bland UI, and it forces me to download and save the image to my phone so I could see it.

I hate Messenger because it's an absolute battery drainer.

Don't really like Wechat as well because of the UI, but it's not a big deal.

If I had a choice, I would've ditched Messenger and Whatsapp, but some of my friends are using it so there's no choice. Tbh, I prefer Line over the others, too bad only one or two I know are using it.

I still hope WeChat can develop like the one in China. One app for everything and not only for chatting. biggrin.gif

They have e-hailing, bike sharing, bills payment, hospital queue system, airport luggage pick up, tickets purchase and many more with the app.
*
You can put your hopes on Boost for that, it's local so it's easier for them to provide more localized services, now they already provide bill payments and parking payment.

Wechat (Tencent) can achieve that in China is simply because they're close with the government right?
