I will be clipping them. Didn't managed to get them done last night. Hopefully tonight I can get them done.
From the brief test previously, the rattling is definitely not there but the mushiness is. I did have band-aid on my PCB. Perhaps that did add to the mushiness.
edit: i'm getting used to sa profile. so.. i will start with maxkey hehe

- this is the very common grey-blue set.
- thicker double-shot abs caps + heavy switches are not bad for typing feels. another combo for my build choices hehe
Thanks.
For some reason, using SA keycaps on Novatouch produce more tactile feedback and feel heavier than using the stock abs/enjoypbt keycaps. Weird and ironic considering SP SA keycaps are noticeably heavier in weight n in theory should absorb the tactility and the weight of the topre domes.

thanks for this tip. right, that's like counter-physics. it's supposed to suppress tactile feedback more to me. i'm going to test this part later.
after using sa profile caps i found that it's better to use them for heavier switches. i'm now ok to type on black for long hours. (must use wrist rest; sa profile is damn tall)

Yes. I have this feeling as well. Not sure if it's "placebo effect" or not but you can kinda feel the key press quite significantly. Maybe it's the sound of the heavy "thock" making this feeling. Sound wise it's really nice. I like the look and sound of SA caps. However, I don't rest my wrist when I am typing. Yup, can't say I have a proper way of typing as well. hahah... So, maybe because of that also, I really cannot stand typing on SA for long period. Wrist rest or not, it's just too tiring for me.
I really love how DSA keycaps look but I really could not get used to the typing with the shape like that on my Race 3. So compromises had to be made
This pic is my Vortex Pok3r's original keycaps and I decided to test fit on my Race 3 to see how does it feel. So much more comfortable!!! Gonna find grey OEM profile keycaps on this one day.
Okay, finally done with the lubing and clipping of my new stabs. They are really as you all said, SIGNIFICANTLY better than those knock offs. Can't compare. Visually you can see some difference with the plastic. It's slightly more "matte" finish compared to a more glossy finish on those knock offs. The more obvious difference is when you insert them on the board. It's a lot more tighter to insert them on my GK64. Previously, I can almost slide them in. Now, I need to use force to push them in. My space bar had never felt so good before. It's definitely not cheap but worth every penny spent!

oh. there must be something that amplify the effects i guess. actually until now i don't quite notice tactile feedback when i type on novatouch. maybe i didn't pay too much attention, or maybe it's because i'm not touch typing on them. personally i'm annoyed by spring noise in novatouch and fc660c. maybe i really need something like silencer-x first. i do feel the part that keys are like 'sticky'. (this is the same when i type on leopold fc660c) i will reapply krytox grease on fc660c later, to see if there are changes.
right the look and sound of sa caps are nice. i rest my wrists when typing (more comfortable). wrist rest is a must for sa profile caps for me lol

i guess it's just personal preference. i also find myself making adjustments when i use dsa caps.

Yea. I see a lot of people recommending SA keycaps for Box Navy
Anyway, im planning to buy BKE domes as the final upgrade for my Norbatouch. Inspiration from this video:
General consensus is that BKE dome is very different from normal topre domes and very tactile. Some compare it to Navy without the clicky noise. Some like them, some dont really like them due to the fact that they are very different from Topre feel. Im on the side that thinks topre domes r a bit overrated if you leave the keyboard at stock, and I desire more tactile feedback. Lubing + silencing is a must imo, especially on novatouch.
only then i'll move on to other/new keyboards. Next target most likely 5 degree frosted + DZ60 + Brass plate + linear switches (most likely box black) or good silent switches.
In the meantime, im currently waiting for my Exent to arrive (after multiple lengthy delays). Ordered the premium kit with brass plate and gmk keycaps. The gmk keycaps bundle is the one causing lengthy delay due to....reasons... The board itself is already soldered with lubed R8 Zealios 67g + 78g on arrow keys by a friend of mine who is close with the TGR guys (the ones that organized the group buy). Hopefully the keyboard can be sent by this monday.

sweet
stock stabs for gk64 is really bad. another chinese-made stabs that i'm currently using is better than them.
thanks for this tip. i will look for gmk stabs for future builds.

ah by the look at the two rings in the video i know it's from nathan kim lol
well, i don't pay much attention on topre mods. i heard about bke domes before so thanks a lot of your insights. yeah i personally thought the same about novatouch at stock state (i still leave it at stock state for now)
i have lubed my fc660c. it's more quiet and smooth now, but i still think it can be further improved. to me, the one problem with topre boards is the 'sticky' keys. what i mean is the part when i press the keys down, it's like there is no push-up force, unless i actually lift my fingers up. maybe this is topre, and i'm too used to cherry mx style switches. (i feel the push-up force even with red)
the aluminum 5-degree is a nice case. i also plan to get a acrylic version. with acrylic and wooden cases, my tests on different case types should be completed hehe
Saw these 2 bottles of WD-40 while shopping for some other stuff at the local hardware store. Was wondering if any of them are safe to be used as switch lube?

from the specs, the one with ptfe should be ok to use. however, these are spray cans. imo it might not be optimal, because you might not be able to control the amount you use in switches or stabs. it will spread everywhere, which you might not want.
in general the better method to lube is still brush + oil for switches. (much easier to control the amount to apply; you only need a thin layer at contact points only). for stabs, use thick lubes.
if you're in acehardware, you can look for Super Lube 21030 for stabs. Super Lube grease is less thicker than krytox 205, so it's relatively easier to spread with brush. (i used this for switches also; this is not recommended by many sifus so do it at your own risks)
