a gb for tx springs and switch films organized by quovadis123 will be live at mymkb fb page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/MalaysiaMec...75975885971968/

the good stuff to note in this round is the brand new tx 67g springs. (usually their springs are with incremental of 5g, e.g., 45g, 50g, 55g, 60g, 65g, 70g, 75g, 80g, 85g, and 90g)

yes ler , i noticed the market too, wan cheap , but dont care about best quality

for them, a kibod is a kibod.
they just want a cheap mech kibod. they dont care bout quality. they dont care what tf is typing feels. as long click clack, then can flex "i have a mech kibod"

same like spending xxx amount for co*s**r / r**er and feels like i have the best kibod in the world while u can spend the same on a better quality kibod like varmilo/leopold.

as for me, i too dont have the money to buy varmilo, so i collect cheap used kibod that is recommended b4 like cm qfr, rosewill, and filcos(if ever found any coz used price is not that cheap oso for me)
now menabung for newer kibods, but keep using the money to buy keyboard parts like switches, stabs, n now films and springs that GB is going. FML

yeah it really need some work haha

imo branded custom springs like tx springs are good stuff. in the case of tx springs, its unique design (slightly shorter in terms of height; 'fatter' in terms of diameter; very likely different wire material also) makes the switch feel and sound different; slightly lighter, softer and quieter than stock springs with the same bottom-out weight. (i compared tx 65g with stock gateron yellow spring, which has 65g bottom-out weight also)

you cannot make custom switches with the same effects with chinese-made switch springs found at taobao/aliexpress. most chinese-made springs only cater for spring weights. never more than that.

haha

my weight range for tx springs is 65 to 70g. yours might be 5g more than mine. actually you can estimate this range with your current stock switches on your boards.

i wish its not cmco so i can directly test urs. ranting.gif

mostly using cherry reds(which i think is 45g?) and cherry blacks(80g) now.
last i heard, cherry and tx spring measure their springs differently, so i have no clue.

maybe its either 65g or 67g for me.
how is 70g for u?
i think u using this all for linears, and after so long using only linears(lazy to korek keluar kibod from shelf), im quite attract to linear only now too.

67g is a nice weight. My spring swap I did recently for my Cherry RGB browns was 67g. Not TX though, generic China springs.

yeah this whole covid-19 thing sucks. seriously.

after-market springs all use bottom-out weight. so cherry mx red is 60g bottom-out. i'm ok with 70g (gat black)

right i use all these with linear switches only. linear is always the better switch type for me smile.gif

right 67g is nice. the weight alone is good for most users, used in tealios v2 and c3 tangerine rev2.

Guys, I bought my first Mechanical Keyboard back in February, it was the Durgod K320- used one at quite a good price. Cherry red switches. Just want to share a bit of my experience. TBH it didn't turn up as how I thought it would be. The first impression is definitely good; well-made solidly build keyboard. Heavy. And the doubleshot pbt keycap simply is amazing attention to detail.

In term of typing experience.. I gave myself sometime to get use to it... I am only occasionally a gamer. Most of the time, I do normal typing(+-70wpm), and use with various softwares. After few months of using the keyboard, I think I can conclude that Cherry red Switch simply is not my favorite. I am not sure if I will like Blue or Brown switches. I thought gamer is swear by Red switches, but this 1-2 weeks I have been playing games more often, I found my finger rather tired, especially playing fps and car racing game, where I constantly have to press onto the "W" forward key. I feel like I need to use more force than i used to in compare to those typical membrane keyboard.

As for Typing, i also dont find it excel either... I think the best typing experience I had is the Razer Green Switch... I have tried a few Cherry Blue switch in the stores, and I still feel the razer green feels more "refined". I am thinking to replace my Durgod keyboard with smthing of a tactile keys... but I am a bit hesitate to go Razer as the build quality isn't as good , and the plastic keycap isnt doubleshot pbt which I really enjoy now. But at the same time, I think im more eager to trying out their green switch in my next keyboard.

Another mistake I made is that, I thought I will like the TKL layout... unfortunately for what I do, I really missed the numpad when needed, I always like smaller footprint keyboard such as the 65% or TKL, for its compactness and look. Unfortunately I need both the F1-F12 function keys and occasionally numbpad.. Look like i just have to stuck with a Full size keyboard.

Any advice on what keyboard i should look for next? I really have been thinking maybe mechanical keyboard isnt the thing for me, and I considering jumping back to normal membrane keyboard sweat.gif such as the expensive logitech mxkeys. Before doing that, I like to give mechanical one more try, as I probably just choose the wrong switch.

btw, anyone interested to swap keyboard with me? I wan to experience different switches before investing in one that I really like. nod.gif

Stock Cherry red is already a very light switch. Maybe you are bottoming out too hard and find the impact too jarring.

Maybe you can try some o rings under the keycaps?

Maybe im too excited when gaming, (thought press harder will run/drive faster whistling.gif ) , but I most probably im too use to low profile membrane switch.

Yeah been thinking to try O rings under the keycaps and hope it will give a better feel. May I know for O rings, if there is a difference is quality? I check lazada is around rm 50++ per pack

if cherry red 45g spring(written spec) is 60g bottom out, blacks is heavier than 80g bottom out? rclxub.gif
i do feel my optical blacks gateron is lighter than cherry blacks thou. feels nicer to type kinda liddat.

i have a few kibod sitting in shelf rarely use(can check my signature) and depends on ur location, i dont mind pinjamkan u my kibods just so u can try n keep u in this hobby. lol.
just some off the shelf, nothing is tuned, biasa biasa kibod. dont expect high quality customs. some might be worse than ur durgod oso.

i think u answered ur own question on the tiredness of ur fingers.
using membrane does indeed feels lighter on single keys maybe bcoz the travel is shorter n does not feels heavy when pressing it long time bcoz less spring resistance. maybe. idk. sweat.gif

the poison is stronk !
my kibods all are cheaper than ur Durgod i think(depends on how good of a deal u get).
I have the Filco MJ2 if u want to try and that is if u r in Klang Valley. but give me few days to put on keycaps and try it myself first. long time no use so not sure if the switch is still clicky and consistent or not. i do have a green switch too. its heavier than blue and can get quite tiring after awhile of typing and it is full sized. This i rarely rarelyyyy use, only the first month of getting it i think. so switch feels new. owh, Filco is TKL.

just trying to help in this community. it is nice being nice to other ppl. if ppl dont repay me, someday somehow god will.

razer green is a heavy and clicky switch type. this might mean you're a heavy typist. maybe red is not your type. it might be too light for you.

you're welcome smile.gif

as i suggested before, to play with custom springs, it's better to start with finding out spring weight range for yourself. this can be done by using stock switches on your current boards. this will help you narrow down the selection of custom springs significantly. it will be a waste if you get those that fall outside of the range. (i.e., too light, causing frequent mistypes; or too heavy, causing health issues for finger joints)
