Hi guys,

quite new to mech keyboard here. Any recommendation for quiet mech keyboard for office use? I just got myself a brown switch Tecware phantom but it's too noisy to use in my office. My office is as quiet as library one. price i think budget/affordable one please laugh.gif

i think you should try touch typing. since your board has tactile switches, it's easy to do that. (just stop when you feel the bumps; there is no need to bottom out)

the better options are those with silent switches like cherry mx silent red. however their price might be at the higher ends.

alternatively, you can try do the following (since you can access all the parts below in your board):
1. put o-rings under key caps;
2. put anti-slip mat between pcb and bottom case;
3. switch lubing; lube the springs, switch tops, switch housings, and stems (just don't lube the 2 extrusions that are in contact with metal leafs);
4. stabilizer tuning; lube the stabs, and add band-aid mod.

the above in combo will help reduce noise levels when you type.

oh; not really sure haha

i'm more to custom builds with cherry mx style switches, especially those with both hot-swap and soldered pcbs.

imo coolermaster masterkeys s is worst. on the other hand, my durgod k320 (cherry mx silver/speed) has way better tuned stabilizers. durgod boards are commercial boards after all. it's no surprise that some of them are lemon units.

by the way, you can always find some one to help fine tune them if you want.

Hello guys.

Im pretty new to MKB. Im now currently using ikbc c87, red switch. I do game but im not a big fan of those rgb corsair razer etcs type keyboard. Used them previously and now I appreciating better quality KB, keycaps. I was hoping to venture into another set. A another TKL perhaps. I got a budget of rm500, previously i almost got leopod at ultimate zone but they didnt have red switch so i got the ikbc instead.
Any other brands should i looks out for? And where to get it?

for commercial board options, you can try out varmilo va87m. (check out their sword series with cherry mx switches)

alternatively, you can contact quovadis123 or GRexer to help you build a tuned custom based on affordable base kits (with lubed switches, foam-modded plate, tuned stabs, etc.) quovadis123 has a custom build with batch-1 retooled black at mymkb mechmarket, https://www.facebook.com/groups/MYMECHMARKET/ (edit: sold)

tbh there is nothing good at that price range locally. for soldered commercial boards, you might wanna try find ikbc c-series at taobao. (these base models should be at that price range iinm)

however, if you're into experimenting different switch types and mods also, you can try out tecware phantom elite. it's not optimized by default, and as hollow as gmmk boards (but way more affordable), but you can fine tune it accordingly to make it relatively better.

you can visit their tmall store, https://varmilo.tmall.com/
