k70 mk2, top tier kb, varmilo and ducky won't get that kind of build quality corsair offers. unless you want printed pattern kb like varmilo then...

Hello!
Is there anyone does repair/restoration keyboards? or knows them?
I have a White Keycool 87 that probably need new switch/or relubed done.

you can pm quovadis123 or GRexer for this.

Got my Anne Pro 2 last Friday and I've loving it so far! Mine is Cherry MX Red Switch so it's slightly more expensive, about RM330 including shipping, ordered from Taobao.
It's my first 60% keyboard and it takes some time getting used to but being a 60% keyboard it looks really really really good. The compact size makes up a lot more room on my mouse pad and I feel that during gaming my mouse can move a lot more freely and I can sit closer to my desk because the keyboard won't be blocking my body.
One thing I don't like is how weak the RGB lights are, from certain angle you can't even see the RGB lights maybe changing to pudding keycaps will be better.
*
nice hehe

60% is a go-to form factor if you're really interested in experimenting all sorts of parts. it has the most comprehensive set of mkkb parts (especially pcb, case, and plate)

corsair k70 mk2 is still using abs caps (their awesome pbt caps are only available for their special edition); it's still using non-detachable cable; and it's still having a non-standard bottom row; and their stabs are still not optimized. although i think it's relatively better than other gaming board options, it's not optimal for good typing experience at stock configurations.

have you checked out varmilo's sword series, or their replacement key caps? they have key cap sets that don't have 'printed patterns'. varmilo boards have better stabilizer optimizations in general.

edit: forgot to mention this: the rubberized wrist rest for k70 mk2 is a dust magnet when you use it long enough. don't take my words for it have a try smile.gif

.. and no, i'm not saying this corsair k70 mk2 is bad. however compared to varmilo, it's not that good imo.

hehe sorry for my bluntness also

i just feel bad that new users have to pay for something more expensive, but with pretty bad typing experience.

here's a list of good videos regarding switch gap films, by walker's keyboard science

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

polycarb-based switch films are more effective to minimize switch top wobbles than stickers. the outcome is relatively consistent typing sound.

one thing to note is that switch films work better with clear/hard housings (e.g. cherry mx rgb) than with black nylon housings (e.g. normal cherry mx)

Heya. I just started to get interested in mechanical keyboard. My friend passed me his old Armageddon mechanical keyboard as a starter. It seems very comfortable..I'm told that I could swap the switches to brown or red so that it's more silent. Are the switches all universal? Can I buy any from the market and change it?

afaik armageddon boards used outemu switches previously. if your board used outemu switches, your option is other switch types from outemu only. (due to the socket design, they're not fully compatible with switches from other brands) to confirm, you should search the model number online and read about its specs.

for modular boards that allow you to swap switches, the key compatibility depends on switch sockets on the pcb. if the sockets are from kailh, then most cherry mx style switches are supported. if it's from outemu, then they mainly support outemu switches only.

Wow I'm lost from the jargon. I guess I need to read more about this. Thanks for explaining though, is Armageddon a good entry level?

don't worry you will get used to them eventually.

well, no. it's not a good entry-level, at least it doesn't represent in any way a good entry-level mkb is. these days, most commercial / oem boards are like that tbh, so it's ok. since it's a modular board (meaning supports switch hot-swapping), it can be fine-tuned to certain extents rather conveniently.

Lovely stuff. Everyone else can call it rubber domes whatever they want, but it's Topre or nothing when it comes to tactility for me. Well, BTC dome over slider too.

Yeah I really enjoy the tactility. I have a cherry MX brown filco at work, it cannot match Topre's responsiveness and tactility!

Variable force. I tried 55g also at the shop for quite some time, in the end I seem to prefer the variable one due to slightly lighter force for most keys.
