QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Oct 27 2024, 10:46 AM) Plus the 5x points for dining seems better utilised than 5x points for air flights. But the VI doesn't seem to be listed for the special UOB lounge in the PPL at KLIA though? The Prvi is VI also has, as per this website: https://www.uob.com.my/personal/promotions/...ium-lounge.page*The UOB-exclusive Dedicated Lounge Area is only applicable for UOB Zenith, UOB Visa Infinite, UOB Lady's Solitaire, UOB PRVI Miles Elite and UOB World Credit Cards. Terms and conditions apply.

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Oct 27 2024, 04:03 PM) Ohhh looks like it's time for me to apply the VI and cancel my Prvi lol Oh wait, nvm dining 5x is only for min spending of RM1k per month and supp cards no PPL access (Prvi supp cards share PPL access) Dining better get SCB Journey, not too bad.

QUOTE(aurora97 @ Oct 28 2024, 06:08 PM) Absolutely, there is no denying what you say. Ironically, since the day I had my first credit card more than 15 yrs+ ago, I only held the MBB 2 Card Platinum and subsequently the MBB 2 Reserve. Until they raise the points and I cut it up last year? With point inflation across the board, fewer banks willing to waive SST and Annual Fee, it's fortunate (or unfortunate - if my plan go side ways. ) that there are ways to get around this problem. OT: I always suggest people not to cancel MBB cards because it is not easy to get back once you completely cut tie with them. Just retain an AF free card will be better to add any new cards in the future.

QUOTE(hye @ Dec 10 2024, 06:10 PM) Members ... please be reminded that SST waivers are strictly not allowed anywhere in this section. Yeah, waivers are not allowed because someone still needs to pay the government. Nobody can waive SST anyway. However, SST cash back differs from waiver; banks give the users an x amount of cashback, but technically, we still pay for the SST and nothing is waived. Some people do not understand this part and report all discussions about SST. Need your comment on this as well, otherwise they will think we are biased. QUOTE(hye @ Dec 10 2024, 09:27 PM) I have no issues with the idea of SST cash back. However I think there's a very fine line between obtaining SST cash back and the latter as they objectively will end towards the same purpose which is not paying SST. So ... I'd suggest accepting the term "cash back" but it is a firm NO on "SST waivers", "SST cash back" or any indicators that give the idea (direct/indirect) SST can be waived/avoided. If the leads here have other suggestions, I'm open but let's all agree on a common treatment. I am less inclined to accept a soft approach now as it has been more than 10 years since cc SST appears and a lot of members still thinks credit card SST can be waived/avoided. (See the offending post and the term "waiver" is clearly used) The period for soft approach has long passed and it didn't work. The brazen ones even come in asking "Sifu" advice on how to avoid SST. It is difficult to talk about cash back without indicating its real purpose, as cash back usually refers to the benefits given by banks. SST cashback is a non-obligatory benefit banks give, but at the end of the day, SST will be paid; it is not waived. Some banks require us to pay first, and they credit the SST cash back later; some require us to spend certain amounts to get the cashback. To be honest, I don't agree with SST waiver discussions, either, but someone likes to report posts about SST without seeing the intent of the posts. In short, I'm not OK with SST waivers but OK with SST cash back. This post has been edited by fruitie: Dec 10 2024, 10:09 PM

Hmm. My card expiry for VI embossed on the card is November but I didn’t see any AF and SST charged to the card. UOB has another way to track the dates? My EVOL card SST was charged according to the embossed month though. Edit: I checked my Nov statement again. SST was charged but not AF. No, I didn’t spend 50k. I guess like any other banks if I fulfill the spending requirement, there will be a line where AF is changed and next line AF will be credited. My card has no AF charged at all. Free AF for 3 years? QUOTE(Blue07 @ Jan 16 2025, 01:31 PM) Would like to know if there is an update i.e AF charged in subsequent month in your case. I ask because something similar happened with my HSBC T1. I got charged for SST and no AF. I paid the SST. The AF appeared in the next statement. I wondered if that was a ploy to get us to hold on the card because "aiyaaaa paid the SST already" lol or was it just how that bank did things. (I cancelled it anyway and told them it was a very half-hearted attempt at a travel cc) Now hearing you saying the same about UOB makes me wonder again. My PRVI up for AF soon so yeah, hope you share if kena AF subsequently. Nothing in Dec and Jan statement too. Well, my SCB Journey also charges in two subsequent months but this is not the case for my UOB VI. As for my PRVI Miles Elite’s embossed expiry month is January, nothing was charged yet but January hasn’t ended so let’s see.

QUOTE(confusedway @ Jan 16 2025, 02:20 PM) i sign up for the world card for 3 year free AF, thus only SST were charged for the anniversary time... no show of AF... Maybe that’s the case for me too but I didn’t notice it when I signed up. I recalled I cancelled once and the retention department called to retain me, maybe that was part of my retention. Anyway, not complaining and hopefully the PRVI Miles Elite can give me some good news too.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 15 2024, 11:43 AM) I applied UOB VI some time back and never activated it, so I called to cancel it last week. Just now, the retention department called me to offer me the following: 1) RM 100 cash back with one swipe at any amount within 30 days 2) AF will be waived for this year 3) 0% 12-month BT I gladly accepted the offer. However, they need to send me a new card as I haven't activated it for so long. At the same time, I also asked to add a Priv Miles Elite card; another department will call me. Oh wait, I found back this old post of mine. Mystery solved.

QUOTE(Barricade @ Apr 14 2025, 12:35 PM) SST charged. Paid the card in full. Called agent to cancel the card. Agent cancelled immediately and the card is gone from UOB app. Retention team called back the next day ask the reason for cancellation. I told him I don't like SST. He said he will offer me a RM25 cashback by spending one time using the card. I accepted. Card reinstated the next day. End of story. I assumed you paid for the SST too? Why still cancelled after paid, can keep another year? Good that it gives your a RM 25 cash back. QUOTE(knwong @ Apr 14 2025, 12:45 PM) Reinstate is usually same card no. everything and moreover it is just the next day or next two days.

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Jun 6 2025, 04:49 PM) some cc need, like PBB - call. else get blocked. experience many times & end up waste money to call MY CS when at oversea. HLB - need to set on app HSBC - need to set on app Fraud nowaday happening on oversea currency I don't know about others but I have stopped calling banks to activate for overseas usage years ago. No issue for MBB, HLB, UOB, AmBank, SCB and CIMB in recent years. PBB, I have never used it overseas, so I cannot say much. HSBC I already cancelled it, and even if I had it, I won't use it overseas. QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Jun 6 2025, 05:20 PM) yeah...i started to feel hsbc point got more restriction. Most likely will cancel before annual month Yes it is. Though I had redeemed tons of Lazada vouchers using points and rewards from them back in 2020-2021 era (reload GrabPay and TnG e-wallet campaigns). Those were the good old days. Not like other banks are better now but still I feel HSBC is lacking. I use UOB for overseas spending, though not the best rate but in terms of airmiles accumulation, it is one of the better ones.

KLIA Express/Transit is only RM 2 and may save RM 80. Or for extreme cases, can take the free shuttle between these two terminals.
