UOB announced devaluation for miles redemptions for all cards, effective 23 Sept 2024

Oh no. There goes my overseas spending card - PRVI Miles Elite. laugh.gif
Looks like I need to stick to UOB VI in this case... I really don't want to apply Zenith just for the conversion purpose. sad.gif

UOB VI and UOB PRVI miles elite same redemption rate right?
Why you would prefer UOB VI for usage? Lower FCY fee?

I have both VI and PME, for overseas and local spending, which is better? It looks the same to me, just a bit of difference.

Is it easy to get SST cash back for UOB card this year? For EVOL card specifically.

I have 4 cards :

UOB One MC (Previously CITI CB Master)
UOB One Visa
UOB EVOL
UOB Simple

That time Feb 2024 charged SST for my UOB EVOL and called unable to waive

That time April 2024 charged SST for my UOB One Visa and called unable to waive

Then later simple charged in May 2024 and called to cancel this card.
Kenak retention say will waive all my SST charged previously as well as offer 0% BT transfer.

Now not sure the UOB One MC will kenak charged during Dec 2024 or not.

I just tried and failed this year after so many years... laugh.gif

The UOB World card offers bonus points for local spending, provided the requirements are met.

Between the two cards, I would choose the Visa Infinite for both overseas and local spending. I prefer the Visa Infinite for its wider lounge access, 5x points on dining, and the option to waive the annual fee when minimum spending requirements is fulfilled.

Currently, I have three cards for my daily use.
*
Thanks for the information. I checked through my local spending seems like a combo of Alliance VI and HLB VI would be better. I have those two cards too. I will check out UOB World Card.

OK, PME used to be better than VI for overseas spending but the recent revision makes both of them the same now?

Actually given VI has a birthday double miles redemption, it's even better if you don't need the supplementary card.
*
Sounds good but I'm going to China only in Nov and it doesn't really accept overseas card. As for next trip to Spain only in February but my birthday is in January. laugh.gif

Isn't any post discuss here as long as it's related to UOB card is valid here. Just sharing of information asking for waiver of SST, that is not something illegal.
Another thing i learnt from PBB is to ask for rebate, not waiver. You pay 1st then you ask for a rebate, maybe just to fulfill spending in return
*
The government imposes service tax. Banks cannot waive it. They can credit cash back to you to offset the SST, but in reality, they will still pay the government behind the scenes. They are just absorbing the cost for you. So, it’s up to the bank to do it or not. The term "waiver" is incorrect.

Card approval is up to bank's discretion, too bad we won't know the real reason.

I already stated the reason due to newly joined company.

That's nice of them to share with you the reason, usually banks won't share so that applicants cannot manipulate documents.

What are the chances to get UOB VI AF waived? I think mine will kick in next month and I hardly use it (or never) compared to PRVI Miles Elite.

I always got it waived so far. Have one insurance policy on it and use it couple of times a month for small purchases to keep Uob happy.
*
Let me test water next month and see if it waives for me, if it does, I will start using VI and PME.

A fraud attempt just happened on my UOB PRIVMILES Elite. At first, I received an OTP for PayPal verification, I already suspected something amiss before I could call UOB to check further, another SMS came in telling me RM 45.03 at PayPal Google Proxima went through. sweat.gif

Anyway, long story short, I managed to call UOB to block the card and according to the CS, this transaction is still pending and asked me to monitor for a few days to see if it successfully went through. She mentioned the fraudster had keyed in a few incorrect expiry date but couldn't get it right.

I spent on two Europe sites yesterday for train and bus, I guess that's how my information was leaked..

I'm glad that it is all OK now, UOB will arrange for a new replacement card to be sent to me next week.

I guess it's a new norm since banks are trying to cut cost  sad.gif

Which cards are you holding? I am thinking of adding VI into the inventory for the dragonpass (but then it'll be an additional RM 25 and calling for a AF waiver every year). Technically if you have VI, you don't need to have PME anymore right since it's kinda overlapping?
*
I have EVOL, PME and VI. Yeah, after the revision, both PME and VI are the same now for miles conversion. Next month I will have AF charged to my VI, I just started using it two days ago because I was still waiting for my PME replacement due to a fraud attempt on the card last week. laugh.gif I doubt I will get any AF waiver for the VI.

Which is better PME or VI? I am planning to cut one of them since the benefit is kinda overlapping. Only difference is maybe the lounge access since VI is tagged to dragon pass?
*
VI looks better for lounges.
