Camera doesn't work after flash global ROM. => mean you flash wrong firmware, i can 100% confirm you flash india version firmware thats why your camera cannot start , india and china using different camera

Just performed factory reset. Camera app till crashing.

How to tell which region of ROM i installed?

After browsing a little more, it's definitely Global ROM for India.
Apparently China variant doesn't have Nougat.

Well, I received my phone, and so far I'm alright with everything...

Except for the screen. The colors are washed out (vs. Redmi Note 3 (!!!)) and adjusting the contrast and colors doesn't help. Sigh

Everything ok now?

Could it be a defective screen? Let's wait for more feedback.

I used Lazada app to order, don't remember seeing it after payment.

Yup. Also install Magisk.7Mobile got China AP set.
Beware though. Sorry for sounding racist but they hire foreigners that practice hard sell and some don't know how to take care your phone.
1. Phone already open box, they will insist to sell to you. The phone screen already have plenty of finger prints.
2. Drag a new phone on the counter for no good reason.
3. Use a hard plastic to clean the surface before applying the screen protector.

Do avoid those kind of shop assistants.
