As requested here's the guide to flash AP sets of Redmi Note 5 AI China.

* Disclaimer * I do not hold any responsibility if anything goes wrong occurs. Unblocking bootloader is a risk and Flashing is a risk. Proceed on your own risk. I'm providing this guide based on the recollection of my memory.

Original Source Guide Flashing RN5 China with Leaked Global Stable Rom

I will try to explain each steps as detailed as possible. Inb4 TLDR;

Requirements:
1) Unlocked bootloader ( Minimum 15 days waiting time )
2) Redmi Note 5 Pro 7.1.2 fastboot ROM
3) MiFlash Tool
4) TWRP
5) Redmi Note 5 Leaked Global Rom (Oreo)


Step 1 :- Unlocked Bootloader

Go to this link MIUI Bootloader Unlock and follow the steps to proceed with unlock bootloader REQUEST.
You will need to download Mi Unlock. Once downloaded, extract the files to any folder and run the miflash_unlock.exe with Run As Administrator option.






Then you'll need to enable developer option. To do this you'll need to go Settings --> About Phone ---> MIUI version. Keep tapping this, it will notify you the number of taps to enable developer option.

Then once developer option is enabled, head over there Settings --> Additional Settings --> Developer Option --> enable USB debugging.
You can also check your Mi Unlock Status there.



Once Mi Unlock software is running, you'll need to sign in with your MI account. Don't have one? Create one. Once signed in, click the gear icon on the top right as per Red arrow then click Check button for MI USB Driver to make sure it's installed.

Shut down your phone manually. Then press VOLUME DOWN button + POWER ON button. Hold down the buttons till phone boot to Fastboot Mode. You'll know once you see FASTBOOT text and Mi Bunny with Commie hat toying with android's back. Then connect usb cable from Laptop/Desktop to Phone and just click the Unblock button.



For those first time unblocking bootloader, through these steps, it will start to request to unblock through it's webpage inside the Mi Unlock Software.

Once after the waiting period is done ;-

Repeat the steps again to unblock your bootloader.

For those buying AP Sets. Please get sealed box. Do not let them unseal and let them install vendor rom

You might receive it on tomorrow! Finger crossed. Last time i ordered huawei p10 on thursday and received it on saturday.

636 still way better than 625. 636 has kyro cores.and the camera also better.

From what i know, able to do so. But i've read around forums saying that some dealers flash vendor rom that hack through the locked bootloader.

No OTA updates for it then when user tries to flash to proper rom or unlock bootloader, the device bricked.

Even Benefon whom started this thread recommends sealed box that comes with original untampered China Rom for AP sets. Who knows what seller might tamper with if you let them unseal it for 'checking'.

For my case i specifically and strictly told the seller ' Sealed Box, China Rom'.

Thats why need insist lu and get it right. Seller must be communicative.

Not at all. Camera app might give issues and other instabilities from what i've read.

Same Rom version and name code with the one mun88 and I flashed to.

I suppose many still are confused with the specifications and variant naming.

I bought from nillkin in aliexpress. Even before i bought the phone. Lol

More expensive than 4gb lol. Maybe slightly tiny bit more battery drain perhaps?

9.2.7.0(NEIMIEK) is rn5 pro india rom. As mun88 and my previous post, both of us flashed to leaked global stable rom for china variant.

How about manually opening Mi browser and try going to google.com? Will the sign in page load?

I think any phone shops can cut it down to nano sim card shape.

Your sim must be really old if it doesnt have the nano sim cut out?

I agree with you. just lighter tone. I think it can be fixed with software updates or display color calibration tool? I used RN 3 SD previously and currently the rn5 ai seems fine to me.

. Let's see in updates to come from Xiaomi if they're able to "fix" this.
