hey guys... well i dun tink it's tat hard..:-) coz audit line do give quite alot of money... but no life, trust me..;-)

i'm from the audit background, and if u get promoted every year (sometimes, if ppl are hardworking, they get promoted in 1/2 a year) within 3 years, tat means 4th year, u  can already earn bout 5k (in big 4 companies and some medium size companies) but def, the workload is way too much, much much much more than investment banks..

i've a fren working in EY (ernst n young) n everyday (wehn i say, it means weekends as well and also public holidays, eg during chinese new year) he works till 4-5am and goes back to office bout 10 everyday... now talk bout long hours... so basically, when ur in audit line, there's no such thing as weekends or public holidays, everythings d same... i've experienced tat, n yes, some ppl can handle n some can't (well i can't...) so yeah, but gettin 5k b4 28, it's possible, but too much workload n stress... u win some, u lose some..:-)

WITH GREAT MONEY, COMES GREAT STRESS (AND ALSO LONG WORKING HOURS..) :-)
*
Audit is definitely tough in hours but most auditors do not work long hours all year round. There are peak and non-peak periods. During non-peak periods, the workload isnt that bad.

I don't agree that the workload is "much x 4" more than investment banking (assuming a corporate finance role). If you are talking about total working hours per annum, IB beats audit flat on average.

When you work in the same company for many many years and without incentives I think its normal for them to "snake". As they aldy know whether they can snake or not.

Yes what fletcherwind said is correct. biggrin.gif Its hell when peak season from what i been told.

If earning RM4K before age of 30 also considered pretty good already.

See luck which company that you join and also your skill. If you are hardworking and you can one leg kick, I'm sure the boss will pay you even more.

Alot of things to consider of, how to make the boss like you, how to make all colleagues like you and etc.

If people like you, people will vote for you and you get promoted.

Attitude also very important, always punctual to work, do your work properly all the time, if you want to "snake", make sure you "snake" at the right time.  laugh.gif

I have nothing against "snaking". Everybody snake in office. It's hard to believe if you work daily from 9am - 5pm without snaking even for an hour.

I'm currently doing my internship at some big firm in Malaysia, and most of the people here are ZOMFGWTFNOSKILL&KNOWLEDGE. Most of them are doing Sales & Marketing (they use word, excel most of the time), I'm doing another that requires another different type of softwares which not everyone know how to use. And I always get the job done at the end of the day. I have to do part of all of their work, it's my responsibility anyway. I can do their Sales & Marketing too if I have too.

Most of these guys (male & female) are close to 30, some are above 30. They are Degree holders mostly, and some of them look weird when they see some mp3 player that can act as thumbdrive. One of them said "What is this, where is the head"?  doh.gif  Let's not talk about Hardwares, since they are not IT geek. There are also alot of things that they don't know, but I was there to save the day. They basically "goyang-kaki" almost everyday, what the hell, go and do something for god sake. No wonder these people are going no where, because they do nothing and snake too much. Snake only when you need a break or something, but they snake the whole day. Making phone calls, browsing the internet, gossiping, smoking. A few fellas gone out for smoking for 30 minutes? Do you need 30 minutes to smoke?

I've earned some respect from some of the Managers and also the biggest in the company. I did showed some of my skill infront of them. I'm always punctual, start work at 9am, I'm already there at 8:30am. I have no problem going to work on time, because all this while I never once late to any classes, and my attendance are all PERFECT! I hate to be late for something, that's why I always plan my time properly.

I did quite alot of things for this company at the moment. I get paid RM500+ monthly, the boss might consider increasing more, but will need to get approval from the higher top person. Hopefully...  tongue.gif

Though I'm just an intern, but I think I already tahpao-ed most of them. The things that they can do, I can do as well. And there are alot of things that I can do, and they can't do. I think most of them are just plain lazy, don't bother to explore more and doing the same things that they do for the past 10 years?

IMO, not only skill is important, general knowledge must also not left out.

Lulz, I just feel sorry for people like them. I heard they are earning RM2K+ only, close to RM3K.

You will be suprised that most of the seniors that make 5k> have this kind of attitute. Talk about competitiveness vs. other countries, we are lacking behind. And you haven't seen the rot yet, some politics in the company are killers.

@gtghost,
I think we're pretty competitive, we just don't know how to balance life; soon, we're all going to burn out from working the long hours - I don't know why we can't learn from past Nations who have made the same mistake! *sigh* shakehead.gif

Well, the Japanese have been working super long hours for centuries, and they haven't really collapsed or anything yet. They even have super low crime rates and super long life expectancy (though this is probably more towards their diet than anything) biggrin.gif

My current company has been established for 20 years and it has 80K strong workforce around the world. Now, the sad part about this company is they overwork their staff. 37 cases of death from fatigue or suicide case reported.

speed faster + mistake = redo = much slower.

they are slower because they wanna make sure there is no mistakes. Usually those that on internship or just started working always wanna rush things.

yup, and if there's any screw up they just ge scolded. For an employee you might loose your job. A boss wants his employee to do stuffs efficiently, not fast with mistakes.

how many times u want to send the same msg? 4days per week wont be that good considering the $$$ u will spent during the 3 days off.
