both are great cameras but nikon's colour seems better then the canon

What I understand is Nikon applies more harsh in camera noise reduction. d40x pictures look less noise, but 400d pictures ratain more details. But overall, they should be quite close.d40x is using the same sensor and image processor as d80 right? |

i would prefer the d40x 2 the CANON over (COLOUR only)
other things canon is a winner eg: servo motor for focusing , 9 focus point , 27 jpeg burst shot |

Here are some of the example shots on USTC comparing 400D & D40...
  My friend D40 Picture Setting is Normal. 35mm f5.6 1/60 ISO800 EV+0 My 400D Picture Setting is Standard - Saturation +1. 55mm f5.6 1/60 ISO800 EV+0.7 What I like about Nikon D40 1. Colour (Maybe Canon can set like Nikon's?) 2. How they display the information of your pictures when you review 3. Nice Interface 4. Auto ISO (I'm not sure others find this useful or not) 5. Battery more power  (1000 [D40] compare to 720mAh [400D])6. Better Kit Lens??? Correct me if I'm wrong... And hopes this help... It shoots at ISO 200 in good light, and at 1/15 of a second (or any speed you choose) it starts ramping up the ISO to a maximum of 1,600 (or any ISO you choose) as it gets darker. af motor mar  you can use all the lens you want  do you wanna use manual focus? if it's no prob then go for d40x more focus points, but i doubt that's a strong point, but useful but if you can afford, go nikon d80  oh btw, it's just a humble opinion from a nikon user  This post has been edited by kjin: May 3 2007, 09:25 AM |
