Somehow don’t like the @unifi suffix appears in WiFi names. Any way to remove it? Is the older Unifi firmware Archer C1200(EU) V1 TM Unifi Wireless Router (15-2-2018) comes with this suffix and beamforming?

Flash foreign FW (aka non-TM supplied FW) to remove.. See past pages for some examples...

Actually I flashed an EU firmware but channels for 5 GHz are limited. Any Malaysia firmware without @unifi suffix but comes with beamforming and greater channel option than EU version?

Unfortunately, not to my knowledge.. I too flashed an EU fw and no issues with my 5Ghz network even staying in high-rise and surrounded by many networks. You also have to remember that 5Ghz has limited range for max benefits.

Read 1st post again and noticed that MY firmware has no beamforming feature although it support greater channels

IMO, i dont think it is necessary to revert back to Malaysia firmware, EU and Malaysia not much difference biggrin.gif

Wanted to flash back to TM firmware because I have issue with hypptv. I did the vlan tagging to Malaysia unifi as silent vampire mentioned but the hypptv keeps on showing ‘cross satellite’ icon with blank display. Only able to watch after 5 minutes waiting for the black display. Network Diagnostic tool test shows the multicast connectivity fails. Any idea?

It is possible to remove that @unifi suffix ---> https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4535308/

No, MY firmware doesn't have beamforming support.

Nope, no such firmware with your listed requirements.
EDIT: Unless if you wanna SSH into the router and changed the region code to regain back extra 5ghz channels on EU firmware as I did.......but it is too much work. shakehead.gif

Please verify correct LAN port is being used.
EU firmware = Hypptv LAN port 1
MY firmware = Hypptv LAN port 4

Your issue probably = wrong IGMP version selected.
Advanced --> Network --> IPTV/VLAN --> IGMP Version = V3.

Glad to help smile.gif
You are right about the hardware specs of the C2300, but its wireless coverage and 3x3 MIMO still lags behind the C3150 which has superb wireless coverage as it has 2.4GHz and 5GHz power amplifier, and 4x4 MIMO as it has better wireless radio chips than the C2300.

The C3150 is not an old model, my friend, as it was just released last year and only slightly earlier than the C2300, so not sure where you get the old model statement from?
*
Depend on your usage model, go for the price/features that work the best. I know higher bandwidth and 4x4 MIMO are good, but price also higher. I just try to get best C/P ratio. Sure higher price for better feature, go for whatever fit us the best. smile.gif

The AC3150 launched in Nov 2015, and AC2300 launched 24 January 2017. You are right just slight different. I prefer the 64-bit cpu on AC2300. The AC3150 come with good 32-bit ARM A9 out of order cpu, but I decided to go for slightly lower cost AC2300 (512MB ram + 64-bit cpu attracted me... and that time my unifi is 30mbps only).

TP-LINK Archer C3150 v1.x
FCC approval date: 20 November 2015
BCM4709C0 ARM
Cortex-A9 1.4 GHz 2 2015-05-26
CPU1: Broadcom BCM4709C0 (1.4 GHz, 2 cores)
FLA1: 128 MiB (Spansion S34ML01G200TFI00)
RAM1: 256 MiB (SK hynix H5TQ2G63FFR-PBC)

Thanks for the review bro.

Appreciate that.
What about speed on 5GHz?

Able to get full signal everywhere in the house with 5GHz?

Thanks.
*
The 5G speed are better, but the coverage not as good per the 2.5G. In far end of my house with 3-4 walls, the 2.5G still good signal, but 5G pretty bad and sometime drop. I think even the 2.5G good for normal smartphone usage, but for laptop access, the 5G will be better if heavy file transfer/streaming.

Bro, I know you got the specs from Wikidevi so you should have seen that there is V2? I am referring to the release date of V2 which is in 2017, as V1 is obsolete and no longer offered. I think it is V2.1 now. Price is only higher by RM100, so not a significantly huge jump. Anyway, as you say, whatever works best smile.gif Peace.

Oh, not aware on the V2.1. Since I couldn't check on the box to compare, and most online shop do not publish info until that level of detail.

What CPU it use? Same ARM A9 or newer 64-bit cpu?

I bought the AC2300 just because the AC1200 (suxk) and AC1750 (barely okay) not really serve me well. Everyone asked me to go for Asus, but RM1xxx out of my budget. So far once awhile I have disconnect issue with AC2300, but not seem to be the device related (i not 100% sure, still monitoring).

Thank for pointing out on new hardware revision of AC3150. By the way, the AC2300 come with Trend Micro build in internet security, but free update for 3 years only. The Asus come with life-time update. I don't really a geek on router, just did studied when i need to shop for it....

Unfortunately, it looks like it uses the same ARM A9. Disconnect issue with AC2300? That is interesting. It has been smooth so far for me on the C3150 v2. There is a new firmware for the AC2300. Have you tried updating to that to see if it resolve the issue?

Not really a new hardware revision, but slight changes to firmware and they probably fixed some stuff, but no changes documented, which is typical of Tp-Link. They are really good for the price, but definitely needs to stop releasing new versions of routers and instead update their firmware for older routers similar to what Asus is doing.

The C3150 also comes with free Trend Micro antivirus built in but only for 3 years. I think that you can hard reset the router before the due date of 3 years, and set it up all over again, and the time counter will reset again, effectively giving you another free 3 years lol whistling.gif

FYI for those using latest Time firmware available from TP-Link MY, the WPA password field only supports up to 60 characters instead of 64 mandated by the standard. I ran into this issue when trying to revert from EU to Time firmware.
