In that case, why would anyone want to change it in third party outlet? I think the ingress protection is important. It maintain the water protection rating on the phone.

Well the earlier complaints about this battery replacement program via authotised centres is that it took too long (3-5 working days) where else a third party one could do it within the same day. But now that Switch has followed suit, yeah, no reason not to go to them.

Also, older iPhones had no ingress protection anyway laugh.gif

Those who send their phone for battery replacement, do we have to reset and wipe off everything in the phone before sending?

Coz the Plus size battery may have stock constraints, as per their ad. Best call the branch you intend to visit to check first.

If you are worried about the security of your personal data then yeah, backup and reset before handing it over to them.

It is better you backup and reset everything in your phone before sending in, because either way, they are going to erase everything in your phone anyway. By doing it yourself, at least you can rest assured knowing that the technician won't have a chance to look at your personal stuff

Btw, just got mine replaced within one day (iPhone 6) at Switch Penang (Bay Avenue) icon_idea.gif

When you say one day, that means you got yours back on the same day you brought it to them? Or was it the next day?

I brought it to them in the afternoon, got a call the next day afternoon saying ready for collection. I was surprised as initially the staff told me will take around 5 working days. But I think this only applies to iPhone 6, as they have ready stock, was told iPhone 6 plus will take 2-3 weeks

Ya, they mentioned that too about the Plus size batteries.

Anyways, thanks for your feedback. I'm sure will be helpful to others!

If the phone has a crack on the screen, we need to fix the glass first before we can proceed with battery replacement? hmm.gif

Switch penang required me to reset all during sending to them for battery replacement. The receptionist ask me to push on reset all button when she open it.

Yes. And you have to get it repaired at the authorised centre as well, which is very expensive!

Yes for the 6S Plus, battery replacement may still be unavailable. You’ll need to check with the service centre nearest to you before you bring it in.
