You'll have to hack open the keyboard to get to the second RAM slot though, instructions included in manual... icon_rolleyes.gif

As long as you're buying RAM with the same speeds (aka, 533+533, 667+667), they should work fine... Even diff speed also would work, but they will dual channel at the slowest speed (533+667=533 dual channel)...

oh my..its too late to make changes now, they had pass my order to the sales department..well..i guess i can get 2gb of 667 at RM320 only at lowyat plaza..cheaper then dell..

I8kfanGUI... icon_rolleyes.gif

NHC screws with my LCD brightness every time I turn it on... sweat.gif

Ya I have that problem with NHC too.

I8kfanGUI seems to be having problem reading the status of the fan 2.It just shows it as 922 RPM.

It's a worthwhile lappy, really... IF you don't get a lemon... sweat.gif

The problem is, each M1210's hand built per order, so there's sure a little slice of lemony goodness in every M1210... Thank god I have nothing against temperamental tech products... I sorta live by the thrill of tuning stuff and solving problems, so I'm a bit happy my M1210's a bit temperamental... I'd be trying to break it otherwise... laugh.gif

Think of it as a expensive configurable clone lappy with an exceptional warranty, (rather then a cheap branded lappy with a good warranty) that should make people happier... whistling.gif

But the Lat, now that's a good piece of equipment... Lots of companies would go belly up if the Lat breaks down as often as the XPS... Hahaha... icon_rolleyes.gif

Besides, if the lappy's got no problems, it'll be a pretty boring thread... rolleyes.gif

Maybe we should call the M1210 "the little lappy that could (most of the time anyway)"... thumbup.gif "

Looks like redjol was rite... New M1210 coming, ETA June 26th in the US (which is crap as they build most of the XPS lappies here anyway)... Thinner and lighter then our M1210, Santa Rosa (but not Centrino Pro, funny) slot loading dvd-burner, LED backlight LCD, GeForce 8400M... shocking.gif

Ah, always left behind by the currents of progress... cry.gif

At least if my M1210 decides to go totally kaput before the 3 Yr CC is up, I can look forward to an upgrade... whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

What do you guys use to check the GPU temperature?

NHC only shows the CPU and Harddisk temp.

I use Rivatuner. There's a tutorial for that somewhere in this thread. You also can access it at the frontpage of this thread.

Well they didn't say new. They just said they were going to replace it. Oh no.

What happens to the unit that I return then? I mean... I'm sure other XPS owners return theirs too. They just fix it up and send it out as new ??

Their XPS Promotion this week comes with webcam and 2GB RAM! GRRR...

Gizmodo has a post about it.

In other non-CPU news, the M1210 update will have a 8400M DX10 graphics card, LED backlighting, slot-loading DVD drive, and be 4 pounds and smaller/thinner than the previous M1210. The tipster got his or her hands on it recently and says it's great, but it's going to be very pricey

Source : Gizmodo

I wonder how pricey will it be?

ok.... ur replacement system is definitely new ...

ur previous return system will be use as refurbished system , where they taken out the part and use it for warranty purpose ... they definitely wont use it as a new replacement unit for other user or sell it as a new unit ....

if u caught them selling refurbished unit or repaired unit as new system , u can sue them .... icon_rolleyes.gif

That's good to know. So they will dismantle my laptop and use it to repair/replace other laptop parts? My system works pretty ok... just the wobbly part which I think is easily fixed.

Although my system hung yesterday. It turned off on his own after nobody used it for two hours. Then when I tried to resume it, it didn't work at all... I had to take out the battery and put it back to get it working again... rclxub.gif that's two times it hung since I got it last week. The last time, the welcome sound kept on coming on after resuming my laptop.

I think I have replied so many times for the same problem here. Eiraku, i think we need a volunteer to do a tutorial for this one. pigduck, what do u mean by resuming ur laptop? Did u mean ur resume from idling (like moving the mouse or typing on the keyboard)?

I dont know what exactly is it but i think i helped some ppl with same problem before and so far their problems resolved. I would suggest to resolve the wobble problem first, bcoz no point of repairing the idle problem but then u will get a brand new replacement because of the wobble problem. let us know anything later.

Hmm are there much differences between Core 2 Duo and Santa Rosa in terms of performance? Too bad there's no latitude threads here. I wonder how's the D630 performing.I almost wanted to get D620 instead of this xps last time.
