I've got my replacement unit. At first glance, i'm happy with it. But soon after checking more of it, I'm thinking of sticking with the old one.
The screen panel they now use is a toshiba one, which has inferior quality compared to the old Samsung panel. The contrast is not that good and the effect is significant when viewing low contrast photos.....
And apart from that, the hinge of it seems a bit loose, which gives me a 'not-so-good' feeling. The LED for the volume control also seems inferior. It seems unequally lit compared to the old one.
And for the hard disk, the old one uses a Hitachi hard disk which has a max internal speed of 540Mbit/s whereas the new unit uses a Toshiba hard disk that has a max internal speed of only 474.7Mbit/s. The old one scorede 4.4 for windows experience index while the new one scored only 4.3.
And the graphics card also seem to have a lower performance compared to the old one. In the Windows Experience Index, the old one scored 3.7 for Graphics and 3.4 for Gaming graphics while the new one scored 3.6 for graphics and 3.3 for gaming graphics. The reason for this lower performance is unknown. The driver version for both are the same.

How do you check the contrast? Coz I have a toshiba screen too for my replacement.but compared to the AUO and samsung one I had, this one seems to be ok (no major light leakages, no wavy lines).
I got a toshiba harddisk too but no complains about it as its a lot quieter than the previous hitachi one which has this hissing sound.
my gaming graphics has a score of 3.4 but the aero graphics has only 3.6. previous one has 3.7.no idea why is there a discrepancy.
