Aiseh, I just noticed something disturbing on my XPS... At right bottom part of the screen (the extreme end beside the right hinge), there's a very small but noticable gap in the upper part of the plastic and the lower part of the plastic (the part that has XPS engraved on it)...

And along the back part too, right above the battery. There's the same smallish gap from the left hand side of the battery (right after the AC connector) to the right side of the laptop (above the network connector and the screw beside it)...

The left side, the side with the AC connector is completely smooth, no gaps... Is there something really wrong with my XPS or is that just Dell quality assurance screwing up again? Sigh... sweat.gif

The problem is, I've grown quite attached to this XPS... And other than that slight gap problem, there's nothing else quite wrong on it... wub.gif

So guys, I have two more days left to return this baby for a replacement, what do you guys think? Stick with it, a few warts and all, or be extremely anal retentive and risk getting a replacement with an whole new potential set of problems to solve?

Hi guys, heard that there are so many problems for dell xps out there...
well personally i have only experienced 1 problem with my xps, which is that it cant detect my webcam after afew times of using, so i called to dell free toll line, and they just walk me through the steps and WALA its fixed.. haha.

Well i still think xps is pretty good! hope u guys can fix your problems and LOVE IT! haha Cheers! icon_idea.gif

It's the drivers I guess... An update to the latest one provided by Dell generally bumps the score up to 3.7... Or your 7400go has problems... icon_rolleyes.gif

when you pressed those areas...it came a bit down is it? cool2.gif
or there isn't any movement happened?... hmm.gif

as for mine...got tiny/small gaps...but it seem more of just a made-up/design gaps... rolleyes.gif
caused mine never had experienced technician come to fix/repair...never experienced opened... sweat.gif

anyway...do update the XPS users list... icon_rolleyes.gif

im having a gap too on the right is more obvious compare to the left side..yeah..i can call them & ask for a new casing..lol..since tat whole bar of mine where there "XPS" word on the silver frame there were scratched by the technician last time..

hmm but i did not upgrade any video related drivers on the old laptop.

those using vista, you guys' score is 3.7 right for the graphics?

In the end I decided to live with it, gaps and all... In a way, the gaps add to the ventilation of the XPS... Hahahaha... laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

And I'm not about to give my XPS up for another that might give me even more problems... Perfectionism does have its problems... And if any problems DO occur, I can always invoke CompleteCover and get them to repair/replace it... icon_rolleyes.gif

There's a new (i think) nvidia geforce 7400 driver for windows xp at the dell support site but no new drivers for vista. bleh.

I checked other forums and it seems like the people there are getting a 3.6 score for their graphics too.

Anyone of u using Intel Thermal Analysis to measure the temperature?

I'm getting the same (most of the time) temperature for both CPU 0 and CPU 1.

For my old xps, the temperature of those two CPU will always be different and it fluctuates a lot.

So I'm wondering if there's something wrong with this unit? (or the old one?)

Good new is, the temperature is usually at 47 or 48 (old one around 50+)
