if u tried hdmi1 no good, can try hdmi2 and see how.

hdmi1, 2 are capable of 4k hdr, chroma 444; not hdmi3, 4.

from my experience with the touchpad remote of ue630x, no.

better get a wireless mouse or airmouse w/keyboard.

this is essential becos some apps can only be navigated with such a mouse.

no need to worry too much which brand/type of mouse as all of them will work.

for those keen on using the androidtv 8.0 of 6800x, here's what i am using, fully tested, all good:

.. astrogo 8.2.4 - sideload, a bit of work to install, please read last part of post #2.
.. new cloudtv - sideload, great for a few free channels incl news.
.. redbox v1.2 - sideload, best part part is the "malaysian" section - u will like what u find there; hv to put up with the ads, adfree version CANNOT be installed, rejected by tv security; works best with VLC player, install from playstore.
.. ZAL TV - this is available in playstore, u need to get code/password for m3u lists done by others (pm me if u wish to try); live iptv channels in HD.
.. Kodi - from playstore - good for local playback; set audio passthru, transcoding, u can playback anything, get max dolby digital audio.

ok.

i start to suspect this stock router (i hv one in my drawer, not used since day 2) is the culprit.

i am using asus rtac 1300uhp, no problem with 5ghz for ua6800x 3 ft away with unifi 100mbps.

for older ue6300x, 55ft away, also no problem, can detect 5ghz alto sometimes it's too weak, it falls to 2.4ghz.

it's quite normal these guys are battling over tech.

the isp's vs networking eqpt makers vs the tv/devices makers vs content providers... eternal battle for dominance.

the bigger better cos. have better R&D, vision and $ to be cover more; poorer ones get left behind.

which is why i never buy the cheapest things... not the most expensive ones either... just the proven solid ones.

android8 update comes with a new security patch.

if u r using androidtv apps a lot, better update.

update also handle sideloads better, less troublesome, more optimized.

Yes, this update android8 does not allow u to read ext hdd with vlc, archos, kodi direct.

It was the same with old model android5 and 6.

Android7 allowed it but it is unlcear why that was so.


Still, not all is lost. For playback, u still can:

.. use tv native player app.
.. use es file explorer, choose play with vlc, audio is aac2.0 whatever file.
.. use es file explorer, choose play with kodi; if pass thru and transcoding set, u get dolby 5.1.

No easy wasy to return to android7... u shud contact sharp service, see if they do it for u.

esf can read... but... i do not know if is restricted to <1TB or <1.5TB.

if sharp is willing to change the board and u want it, can do.

better that than trying cracked/modified sideloads that may brick the TV (tv is a few K rm, not a few hundred rm!).

only thing is there will come a time when u will be "forced" to update to android8, failing which certain apps will not work, e.g. netflix.

also a possibility of a silent auto security patch that will mess things up for u again, as seen with predecessor ue630x android5->6.

all these "trouble", changes, restrictions are due to google's androidtv dev, their way of doing things.

android8 reached 8.1 but apparently no device has adopted it yet, only 8.0 is used by some.

some androidtv devices incl some sony tv's have not even got to android8.0, still on 7, while android9.0 pie was launched last month.


finally, my attitude towards playback has always been this:

tv makers shud make good displays, androidtv is an excellent bonus.

but i will not count on the tv for files playback.

if i have spent thousands if not tens of thousands of rm on a tv-home theater-connectivity-networking, i will spend a bit on a standalone, reliable, versatile and superb video-audio output quality box player.

android7 was easier... kodi could read ext hdd, playback any file, give up to dd5.1 audio if passthru n transcoding set on.

recent android8 update messed it up, need to go thru es file explorer, choose kodi player to get there.

above is for component home theater.

HITB or soundbar - no idea... i usually do not comment on things i hv not used before...

u mean soundbar?
i hv never used one, can't say.
i hv always used individual components, buy separate.
cost more, maybe a lot more... maybe like rm2k vs rm10-20k.
but u get the flexibility, change out one component if required.
for speakers, good ones last like forever... 20, 30, 40 years.
NEVER try to root the tv's android - u may brick the tv, lose warranty lose the tv total.

other devices, i can't say as i never tried, never had to.
a good box player (rm500-600) with a good firmware does NOT need rooting to do the what it's supposed to do.
cheap boxes, maybe.. but i dunno.

u shud check your router settings.

i suspect all your troubles r coming from the router!

... previous post, u mention ethernet... now 5ghz?

are u wired or wifi? or just testing?

keyboard... u BT phone to tv for keyboard? may not work very well.

i m using a 4 year old airmouse w/keyboard, all is good... android5, 6, 7, 8... try to get hold of one and try.

this, u gotta remember - restart the android if u find things not smooth.

i just googled this soundbar... cost rm4-5k.... more than the TV!

with such a costly bar, i do not understand why u wud want to use the tv (your sony) as a player for playback.

unless the files are all small n low level... but then u hv a NAS.

another rm500 or so for a separate player, u get all the video and audio passthru player=>soundbar->tv.

that way, u can play anything w/o hassle, get best performance for tv, no need to use arc with tv passthru restrictions.

the tv player video quality is nowhere near what other players can deliver; and i am sure audio will be better, even for a soundbar.

i do not use a centralized remote but i believe u can program it that way for most boxes.

as for tv youtube-audio... that is not an issue - whenever u use youtube of the tv, u get audio from tv, nothing to do with soundbar or box player.

sure it is.

like many good box players, ps4 player definitely give better video and audio.

tv player is very basic, for basic files!

I hv used himedia q10pro for 1.5 years now.

For local playback, it is among the best players u can find.

More so if u r into big full bluray 4k hdr files with hd audio.

To my eyes, himedia q10pro native player output is superior to kodi app player... or any other app player.

Tv player.. to me, it is poor enuf that i never use it!

Android version is fine, 7.0; just dun buy anything android 5 or even 6 now since android 9 is already launched.
