was playing around with the tv...

.. netflix HD (not UHD... using someone's acc)
optical output DD5.1, as expected.
voice search works good.

.. iflix - install from playstore, log in with previous email... it auto detects, no problem... still not expired!
noticed there are a few LIVE tv channels now... aljazeera, DW, CCTV4... but in SD 240/360, crap...
VOD is 480/576, i say... alto message popped up "1000 videos in HD"!!
still same very old stuff in the library... will they ever get some newer/better stuff?!
voice search works fine.

Netflix should be UHD.. Check with that person, the account is probably the cheaper max 1080p only account. Netflix has slightly more expensive up to UHD+HDR and Dolby Atmos support. With such account, the TV should at minimum do UHD+HDR.. If it doesn't? Then that's a major flag.
*
It is just an hd account, not uhd.

The remote that comes with the TV miraculously work like a charm. It is very easy to navigate the tv options/controls just with the up/down/left/right/ok buttons.
For the USB drive, I re-formatted it from exFAT to NTFS and that fixed it.
As for the 5ghz WiFi, i have yet to make it work.. my cell phone can detect the 5ghz network though.. will try again this weekend.
As for the movie, i can't play with the built-in player. I installed KODI and it played flawlessly.
As for the NETFLIX, is it worth it for RM51 monthly? I mean if any blockbuster movies just hit the big screen, will it also be available on Netflix?
The RM51 Netflix account can simultaneously be played on 4 different locations? I mean 1 ID shared among 4 users possible?
*
5ghz... if yr wifi is strong enough and TV is close enough, it should detect.
if signal too weak, it will fall back to 2.4ghz.

yes, u can play local videos with kodi player.
the tv can do only Dolby Digital; by default, DTS and higher is transcoded to DD.
this is better than the tv player which gives no audio for DTS and higher... or mx/vlc which gives aac2.0.
for arc/optical output, set kodi audio to audio passthru, u get same transcoding to DD5.1; w/o it, u get no audio, just a buzz.

netflix only carries videos that that netflix owned or licensed, movies or tv shows.
u dun get all blockbusters, only netflix produced or sponsored ones.
netflix account... find sharing partners here:

45UA6800X (I think it was 45", definitely smaller than 50 one). Tested it at ESH Starling Mall, cause I wanna find out if the TV could output DD+/DTS-HD.
Like I said earlier, VLC could play them + sound from TV speakers. But dunno about ARC side. Hopefully this pique your curiosity.  laugh.gif
*
maybe above is useful for u - about kodi player-audio output.

Hi, anyone can shared the default value in Service Menu setting ? Mine model is 50UA6800X, my kids accidentally launched  the Service Menu and changed some of the setting..

Now the screen seem warm color with noticeable noise in Standard AV mode.
Appreciate your help. Thanks.
*
What is this service menu, where u acces it?

QUOTE(Harddisk @ Sep 21 2018, 04:02 PM)
Tried Kodi audio passthrough. But my TV no support Dolby TrueHD, so no sound.  laugh.gif
*
U must also tick the others under passthru incl transcoding to get dd... tv speakers or avr.

dd+ ddtruehd, ddatmos, dts, dtshdma, dtsx will all be transcoded to dd.

Mine only got these 2 options for pass-through.
Is it because I'm using a different branded TV?  laugh.gif
*
definitely missing the "transcoding" option.

that exist with kodi 17.6 on sharp androidtv (incl old model ue630x) and my box.
what TV u bought that doesn't have it?

X85f, now still on Nougat. Kodi is 17.6. The Android performance not really great. Using MTK chipset.

Built in player I could get DD+ pass through. Archos player + codec plugins cannot. Kodi can. But none can play Dolby TrueHD. Anyhow, TV doesn't support Dolby TrueHD. So Atmos audio is out of the picture. The only problem is, it doesnt transcode down to supported codec.

I think my previous LG could still pass through Dolby TrueHD + Atmos (could be transcoded, cause soundbar was only showing DD, which is 5.1), if I'm not mistaken.
*
i wud read that as the TV firmware is not optimized for kodi 17 - this is seen in many devices.

howver, it wud seem it has a better usb player/licnese since it can do dd+.

if audio is big for u, time u go buy a separate box player! biggrin.gif

So just have to wait and see if Kodi suddenly decodes Dolby TrueHD 1 day.
The DD+ royalty definitely cost quite a bit.  sweat.gif
Maybe few years down the road, get a stupid 4K TV + good box.  laugh.gif
*
Stupid tv + good box is a poor combination.

Becos stupid tvs are in a dying market segment, no attention from tv makers, do not produce good video quality.

So, u gotta get a good box for audio whatever tv u get.

I've no idea how my kids access this menu via remote control, but I only able to access by holding {INPUT} & {-VOL} button on TV and switch on the power outlet. after a while a [S] sign appear then press {<CH} & {-VOL} button together.

**be careful if u have access to service menu as navigate button left or right on remote might able to change the setting value..

stasio, neither Factory reset or Industry Init. doesn't help...
*
No, i will not attempt that.

I suggest u contact sharp service center, get their help to fix this.

While still under warranty.

ua6800x...

there is new update - firmware 30700 20180912 - android 8.0 oreo.

.. takes about 20 mins, all smooth.
.. new UI.
.. netflix, youtube, playstore, etc. auto installed.
.. during installation, a choice of proposed apps incl FB, spotify, kodi, puffin tv/browser, etc.
.. option to place (androidtv approved) app shortcuts on UI.
.. all previously sideloaded apps remain.

ASTROGO - Android 8.0:

after update to android 8.0 (sep 2018), astrogo installation:

if u want to install/reinstall astrogo, it is easier on this android 8.

.. get astrogo v8.2.4 (official version is fine), put in USB->tv usb.
.. must have orientation app installed, set to landscape. this one will work:
https://apkpure.com/set-orientation/com.goo....setorientation
.. (previous "rotation app" which worked on android5, 6, 7 does NOT work here.)
.. if u did not accept proposed Puffin TV app during android8 update, please install it - required as installer package for astrogo.
.. (chrome or es file explorer NOT required and not preferred, and if u use either, u have to grant permission as installer.)
.. default Gboard is fine; Indic keyboard is no longer required like before.
.. use X-plore as file manger to install; once u click install, it takes u to PuffinTV - click on the box "astrogo login"; the rest is straightforward.
.. there is no need to switch off/on the TV for this installation unlike previously with "install" option blanked; handling of sideloads is neater now.
.. install from playstore, Sideload launcher or HAL launcher, use it as shortcut in UI to access all apps.
.. enjoy!

above also posted in bottom of post #2 as reference/record.

Before has been choice..now no.

Edit;
must go to Inputs on the top.....dont like this much..... blink.gif
*
tv box, use HDMI1 - this one can set to video quality "high" - for 4k, hdr, etc.

astro is only 1080i, hdmi2/limited will do.

if need be, u gotta get longer cables!

Me too, when i first got my tv and did the update. No wonder from the start, i am not able to detect my 5Ghz network...
Any solutions guys?

QUOTE(stasio @ Sep 26 2018, 09:31 AM)
DO NOT UPDATE !!!!!

-  No WIFI 5GHz
- "Tools" take more space on screen then before
-  When press "Home" , no video/audio signal
-  Only single row of application
*
what ISP?
IPv4 or 6?
try on/off your router, see if it can detect.
i've been on 5ghz, static IP, google DNS since day one, no change after android8 update.

i find the new UI better - more versatile, can customize.
at the bottom there is option to customize rows - u can add or remove.
even youtube, u can have 3 rows.

"tools" is same as before, unchanged.

pressing home DOES take u back home.
if u dun get this, something's not right.

Hi all, i recently buy the Sharp 60 inch Smart TV, i think the model is LC60UA6500X.
But i feel something weird is that my remote control come with the box have "Netflix" and "Youtube" button. But i search online the same model remote controller is came with "Browser" and "Youtube" button.
Is there any different between this two? Or the remote control are same? Because i could not find my TV to use Browser, but can only Netflix/Youtube.
Is that any different?
*
for ua6800x, i think explanation is due to the android7 units launched here initially did not come with an approved browser, need download or sideload.

netflix is there, so stick on netflix on the remote! biggrin.gif

with android8 update, it comes with a proposed puffin tv/browser.

ua6500x is not androidtv, can't sideload any app... but isn't there a default web browser built in?

This month I shift to TIME,but even TIME I can see my wifi 2.4 and 5 GHz in previous Android 7.
*
this is strange.

i haven't exp any of my devices unable to get 5ghz.

the only exception is when distance is too far away, signal too weak, auto falls to 2.4ghz.

LAN?

then wifi, 2.4, 5ghz is irrelevant, meaningless!

unplug the cable, use wifi, see u get 5ghz or not!

It was working before with my Panasonic tv

what do u mean by the bolded, what CEC not working?

can u describe your devices, how are they connected, arc, optical, if yamaha is HTIB, etc..?

My setup currently is using
A single HDMI cable from my Yamaha A830 AV receiver to the TV.
Other equipments are connected to the AV receiver via HDMI.
I can't turn on/off the AV receiver with the TV and the audio return from the TV is also not going to the AV receiver. Ie. If viewing [b]YouTube on the TV, the audio isn't being channeled to the AV Receiver.

HDMI Cec is both Turner on for the TV and AV receiver.
*
single hdmi cable to tv.. this hdmi cable will send video to tv only.

afaik, to get hdmi ARC, u use another HDMI tv->AVR, set it correctly.

can't remember too well, but I think hdmi 1 or 2 can do it.

so, yes, u need to use another hdmi cable, do the settings right.

alternatively, save hdmi cable... use toslink optical cable tv->AVR.

result is the same - tv is rated DOLBY DIGITAL only.

please read e-manual again... all is explained there.

Apparently there are some issue with this release.

in the mibox (which runs on androidtv as well) thread, some users have complained about the same.

looks like this android8 has its share of bugs.

Ok I got the HDMI power control syncl to work after unplugging every device connected to the AV receiver and found the offending culprit to break the communication, the Himedia android box. Once I removed it, everything is working fine.

Will connect the TOS link from the TV to the AV receiver for ARC, I did read the e manual but did not find the requirement for TOS link mentioned or maybe I misunderstood the diagram.
*
yes, HDMI arc can be messed up by some devices... hyppbox is another common culprit.

android boxes, i wudn't know which cause or dun cause ARC issue.

i use optical output, all is good, whether tv android apps or ext devices input direct to tv.
