But it is impossible day day also 1080 and more biggrin.gif

Worry bit too small if i took 50" for 10fts and yet 60" will cost me more sad.gif
*
i am just "warning" u that if u r used to a samll TV, watching low grade videos on a big TV will give your eyes some strain.

u will probably hate it, curse and swear why u bot such a big tv. biggrin.gif

really, even for 720p videos, at 10ft... it will take yr eyes a while to accept it.

anyone has successfully updated the TV after hitting the problem,"cannot access network"?

update may have wiped your wifi settings.

go to settings, network to check.

Indeed, my parents are complaining that Astro is super blur on the 60 inch from our normal viewing distance of 10 feet. We upgraded from a 42inch Plasma. I use to watch Netflix etc, that's when the detail and clarity really shines.

Astro HD channels are also not that sharp, presumably due to compression and only 720p grade.
*
astro and unifitv HD channels are 1080i; netflix HD is highly compressed - these are ok.

SD channels, bad! biggrin.gif

however, if u playback full 1080p/2160p videos, 60" delivers very nice picture.

i think it is all about the size of the screen that need more pixels to produce sharp, rich color picture.

simply can't get good picture with low grade videos unless on small/very small screen.

hence, my repeated calls for 50" or lower if u r not watching high resolution stuff.

4k broadcast by IPTVs will be answer to large TV's - sky, bein and many others already doing since a few years ago; astro just introducing...

Indeed, but some Astro SD contents are being upscaled well, compared to others. Even on HD, some content on Astro is not sharp; probably because I am using the 2nd gen Astro PVR.
I subscribed to Netflix UHD, so far contents are ok; even for shows marked as HD.
And yeah, the source resolution needs to be good for good image to be output smile.gif
*
Right... hd also many kinds.. some so called hd channels are actually 576, not even 720.

Yes, source is king. Which is why for movies, i do own playback with big files.

No fun watching low grade videos on 60in. tongue.gif

QUOTE(shlimsk @ Oct 22 2018, 06:19 PM)
it sound like i need to go for smaller size around 50" because my usage mostly for daily normal TV and probably will subscribe to Netflix further with distance of 10fts
off course HK tv drama is my choice biggrin.gif and this tv show probably < 1080
thanks guys.
i can save the penny as well
*
I made those comments after my own exp.

I had a 50in at 9ft, then replaced by 60in... had to move couch to 10ft.

The 50in moved to another place, now watching at 8ft.

Took me a few weeks to get used to the 60in for regular tv; no problem with blurays 1080p, 2160p.

is the picture really bad if watch low grade video on 60"?
*
there is 240, 360, 480, 540, 576... then 720, 1080.

i refuse to watch anything below 576. tongue.gif

Another sharp model non Android 6500 if not mistaken..
Is this model come with netflix? How to hb netflix if this model don hv preinstalled netflix?
If i need chomecast is it only need to buy the additional doggle ?
Thanks

I
*
6500x is a lower specs tv, discussed many times here too.

u can compare on this site and see the diff:
https://my.sharp/compare/product

main diff... it is not androidtv - it has a browser, youtube but no netflix, voice search and cannot sideload apps.

1 usb port, 2 hdmi only vs 2 and 4 in 6800x.

if u want netflix for such a tv, best buy a separate androidbox that can do netlfix uhd e.g. mibox.

that will also eliminate the need for chromecast dongle which is less versatile, less useful... and cost money too.

really, if u are going to spend more on other equipment, might as well go for 6800x and enjoy all the features incl built in chromecast.

some people will tell u non-androdtv + android box is better than just androidtv tv.

my answer is yes ad no, depends on what u want and what u do with it.

a lot has to do with your personal knowledge and attitude on how to make android apps work.

and typically, the best features, hardware, firmware and support are found in higher priced 4k hdr models.

A quick one on your Android TV. Are you able to set sleep timer (without going to Home -> Sleep) while watching Youtube (or any other video playing)?
*
Never used this sleep thingy.

But on remote, there is a sleep button to set 30min, 60, 90, 120, 180, off.

I suppose thats what its for... to shut down tv, whatever it is doing.

May I know any apps can be used to reduce sluggishness of the androidtv and remove some unused downloaded apk?
*
r u talking about this ua6800x tv or some other androidtv?

potential reasons:

.. broadband speed too slow or unstable.
.. too many apps installed, too much junk, little space left.
.. malicious/intrusive app(s) sideloaded.

do a restart - this usually gets it back to good shape.

if still no good, u start removing suspicious apps one by one.

if all is in order, it is never sluggish.

IS LC50UA6800X model is now replaced by newer model? According to sales person whom i met in store said this new model is 4TC50AL1X?
*
this 4TC50AL1X appears to be a direct lit rather than edge lit.

did u check the price?

That shop offer me RM 2400 with 2 years warranty.

Interms of specification which one is better?
*
u can compare side by side:
https://my.sharp/compare/product

the specs are identical excep... al1x is direct lit, 6800x is edge lit.

only other diff i can see is al1x is thicker which is normal for direct lit.

and since it is thicker, 3 hdmi and 1 usb are at the side - whereas all are at the back for 6800x - this diff... some will like, some will not...

pricewise, about the same, i think.

w/o seeing them side by side, hard to say if one is better or worse.

Any update on this? The work around of using ES file explorer to launch the videos work for me... But the uI of the file explorer is super awful
*
i dun think so but cant be sure.

becos i dun really use usb playback.

if u can use it that way, that's good - should be fine for smaller, simpler videos.

Finally, sharp changed the board for me, to revert back to Android 7.

after report to sharp and they came to investigate, and few weeks waiting, sharp technician came and change the board for me yesterday.

so happy kodi and vlc can read my hardisk now... rclxms.gif
*
this means the android8.0 update is the culprit, no quick fix yet.

for those who need the players for local playback, changing the board to revert to android7 is the only way.

potential problem is after a while, netflix may not work, asking u to update to android8!

hopefully by then, all will be fixed with a new update.

Yes, lesson learnt. will not simply update next time.

it's ok for me as i don't use netflix.
i can't remember , you may check the warranty card or sharp website ya.
*
right... u gotta use it the way u want it.

i use netflix and do not need tv's VLC/kodi player.

just FYI, i find android8 better for sideloaded apps... easier to install, navigate.

i use it mainly for live tv apps... a few apps, the tv gives all the good HD stuff.

Hi everyone, I come from Vietnam, I use google translate, sorry for my bad English
I buy new tv Sharp LC50UA6800X, I upgraded firmware to android 8.0
I found a error when watch football, the ball is lost when moving fast if I set AV mode Standard.
Tool > Picture > AV Mode
When I set Dynamic, the ball appears but it is blinking continuously
You can test following step, press Voice input and speaking "4K video football", choice clip "Lionel Messi vs Celtic (Neutral) 16-17 UHD 4K - English Commentary"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLZcjhMuA1I
I tested copy clip to usb and watch, it still error
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1peN5quriiM...sKZ05GiQWU/view
*
Hi, gud 2 hv u!

I played that utube video... was ok... movie mode.

Its true when the ball is fast moving, it fades a bit in visibility but looks normal to me.

Still very visible, not vanished.

Just an effect matter of camera angle, lighting and contrast at the time.

Check a few more, see if u get same.

thanks, are you can test again with AV Mode Standard ?
two of my friends buy tivi same time and tested it same error
I looked directly on tivi, the ball clearly disappeared
*
i think i know what u mean.

the effect is a bit more acute with std mode becos the contrast and color is lower and temp is bluer.

try increasing the contrast and change temp if required.

normal viewing, i prefer movie mode which gives a more reddish temp.

for 4khdr, i will use dynamic but with some adjustments.

how is this TV compare to sony x7000f or samsung nu7100?
*
comparing what... price, features, opsys, PQ, audio, networking, smart tv, durability, service..??

if u want a useful comparison, u need to hear from someone who has used all 3 tv's for some days or weeks..

and that's hard to find... becos 99% people look see for 10-30min only... then buy ONE, that's all!
