A quick one on your Android TV. Are you able to set sleep timer (without going to Home -> Sleep) while watching Youtube (or any other video playing)?

Never used this sleep thingy.

But on remote, there is a sleep button to set 30min, 60, 90, 120, 180, off.

I suppose thats what its for... to shut down tv, whatever it is doing.

This is much better, with a dedicated sleep button.

r u talking about this ua6800x tv or some other androidtv?

potential reasons:

.. broadband speed too slow or unstable.
.. too many apps installed, too much junk, little space left.
.. malicious/intrusive app(s) sideloaded.

do a restart - this usually gets it back to good shape.

if still no good, u start removing suspicious apps one by one.

if all is in order, it is never sluggish.

Hi, recently i put on a jbl soundbar to this tv, the sound is ok.

However, when it comes to play audio from pc onad ps4, the audio is delay like 0.5s.

My setup:

soundbar ---> hdmi arch ----> TV <------ hdmi <-------- ps4

its the soundbar problem or TV need to set the lips sync?

this 4TC50AL1X appears to be a direct lit rather than edge lit.

u can compare side by side:
https://my.sharp/compare/product

the specs are identical excep... al1x is direct lit, 6800x is edge lit.

only other diff i can see is al1x is thicker which is normal for direct lit.

and since it is thicker, 3 hdmi and 1 usb are at the side - whereas all are at the back for 6800x - this diff... some will like, some will not...

pricewise, about the same, i think.

w/o seeing them side by side, hard to say if one is better or worse.

2400 is rather cheap for 50" if it is a new model.

i spent a bit more time playing around with the android8 update.

i conclude there is definitely a problem with the detection of NTFS drives with androidtv's android8.
the same kind of problem has been reported in Mibox and Nvidia shield which also use androidtv months ago but have largely been resolved, i believe.
there's a youtube video where a mibox user says removal of es file explorer does the job - maybe for mibox, but not for this tv.

there is no reliable way to playback using the TV except the tv native player (which can't do dts).
i had tried... several file managers - es file explorer, es file exp pro, X-plore.
tried several player apps - vlc, mx, mx pro, kodi, Xplayer.

none of them did a proper job... es file exp + vlc or kodi or xplayer can play somewhat but inconsistent.
so, we wait... i wud think another update shud be coming soon.

____

minor stuff but FYI, with android8 update:

.. if u can't bring up the virtual keyboard when using playstore, install google indic keyboard, set it as default.
.. latest unifi playtv 7.8.19 tablet version works fine, all smooth.
.. latest astrogo 8.2.4 works smoother with this update than last one.

Any update on this? The work around of using ES file explorer to launch the videos work for me... But the uI of the file explorer is super awful

i dun think so but cant be sure.

becos i dun really use usb playback.

if u can use it that way, that's good - should be fine for smaller, simpler videos.

this means the android8.0 update is the culprit, no quick fix yet.

for those who need the players for local playback, changing the board to revert to android7 is the only way.

potential problem is after a while, netflix may not work, asking u to update to android8!

hopefully by then, all will be fixed with a new update.
