Hello folks, need some advice/sharing/opinions:
I am commuting to work from Seremban - Bangsar everyday, so around 150km daily round-trip. Am using MT-07 currently and planning to change to a more comfortable bike in term of engine vibration/nvh, am very fussy/sensitive to this. So to all sifus right here who has owned/test ride many-many different bikes, which will have the least engine vibe, buzz etc at cruising speed of 110-130km/h? I prefer a supersport bike actually and don't mind the seating position. Say, is the 600cc engine will feel silkier than 1000cc at 110-130km/h? Very much appreciated! Why did you choose z9 over mt09? Can clarify more?

QUOTE(usin_kangkong @ Sep 7 2018, 04:35 PM) Hello folks, need some advice/sharing/opinions: I've ridden my friend s1kRR, comparing to zx6 (both year 2017), and 1000cc bikes will feel smoother (cruising feeling) at 110-160km/h. You won't feel the bike is working hard, and it can casually cruise at that speed. Actually it's quite obvious that a 1000cc is better then 600 right... (600 will feel "lighter" but the difference won't matter after you've used a 1000cc bike long enough, you'll learn how to get better then a 600 - said by my friend who owns the 1000cc)I am commuting to work from Seremban - Bangsar everyday, so around 150km daily round-trip. If your priority is engine vibration/nvh/comfort - my best advice is DO NOT CHANGE your stock exhaust, or infact any aftermarket parts. QUOTE(redjol @ Sep 7 2018, 11:15 PM) As usual, this is a very personal answer, and most owners of mt09 will say bad things about z900, while z900 will say bad things about mt09 - simply because Malaysians must always justify their purchase, and get their friends approvals. So, you should never make a decision based on what "others" said.Well but to share my personal opinion during the time of purchase, i already had more then enough disposable unused cash to go for bikes in these price range, infact already tried all these: Stripple RS, zx6 or s1000r(naked). Additionally i have no plan to keep this bike more then 2 years also, so i'm not going to defend z900 also lol. 1. Seating Position, mt09 not stylo enough. MT09 seating position is way too damn straight, it looks very awkward, from far you look like riding an old man's bike (gs1200 comes to mind ahem) But at the same time, i don't want to learn on a zx6/supersports bike as well - lesser handlebar leverage etc. My goal is to get the most beginner friendly yet sporty looking enough as my first ever motorcycle right after getting license. 2. Build quality, mt09 really exudes the "budget bike" feeling. It looks very cheap, i don't feel the refinement in mt09 bike, it just feels like a bike built-up from whatever yamaha had the leftover spareparts for, there is no bespoke feeling in mt09 at all. Furthermore, being the cheapest bike in the category dosen't help (i'm new, and budget is not in my top3 priority, and normally i won't buy the cheapest tier of item, no matter what product range la) 3. mt09 STOCK does not have any wind protection at all. I know this is a stupid point for naked bike category, but comeon i still want some sort of wind redirection or "safezone". Tracer was a no-no, it was way too "big" looking for me to handle as a beginner. 4. Electronics. If a bike wants to give electronics assist, i really wouldn't trust it from a budget-bike perspective, i much much rather it don't put any electronic assist then putting "budget" e-assists. Also, as a beginner i want to completely feel the raw feeling of unassisted bike so i can learn better. 5. Throttle, ECU mapping. It's just not smooth, and overly done. It's like the ECU is mapped to inject 20%fuel@10% throttle opening. Basically this is what i meant by "unrefined". Almost all other bikes i tested do not have this "rough" throttle feeling. No, i'm not talking about the powerband in relation to RPM, zx6 has an aggressive powerband yet i still feel it's smooth. That's my thought when i bought the bike 9 months ago, z900 is basically an upgraded version of mt09, even the price shows that. Mt09 is cheaper but it needs to spend some cost on electronics, z900 is more expensive, but zero electronics and all spend on raw refined feeling of the engine and things that matters. |

Speaking of which changing full system exhaust pipe and doing a proper mapping on z9. will the smoothness power gone and unleash the full raw power? on a litre bike proper AFR tuned and race tools on it really it does need to be careful on throttle i guess? neither naked nor Superbike class. Speaking which there are a few aftermarket piggyback fuel mapping alternative and full Race ECU Flash. Is it worth it for the price we pay and long term usage? Which do you recommend? and yes Z900 does not have power selective modes and Traction Control(Only Z900RS compulsory on CBU Japan Model) |

Anyone change to a slip on ezzos piap on their z900?
It is louder ? Not keen to get full system. I use this bike everyday to office. So Full system is too loud for everyday use. Painful to my ears. |

If you remove the breadbox, it is a whole lot louder. p/s: Try wearing earplugs. |

Removing the breadbox sounds nice but AFR Mixture is messed up, lean the low end and too rich on high end. Unless warranty void going for aftermarket piggyback.

I myself removed my breadbox and have an arrow slipon.
Even with stock exhaust, i already have a habit of wearing earplugs since Day1. That is one very good practice if you really treasure your hearing, i have bought 3 different helmets and so far ALL still need earplug for my liking: Shoei Qwest, Shoei xspirit motegi, Shoei Neotec2. Those that don't use earplug - well it's your problem lol Bought: NoNoise Motorsport Earplugs - so, so, fitment is not really matching for me Alpine MotoSafe earplugs - the best so far, perfect fit, without cutting out too many noise, just windnoise is reduced and all other sound frequency remain audible Pinlock earplugs - still not yet open lol, i bought all these earplug from Amazon by batches, and alpine is the best so far. And a huge box of 3m 1100 foam plug - TOO QUIET, cannot hear too many things, but really good for long distance i presume. |

has anyone bought the z900 tall seat accessory? Care to give a review?
![]() I have changed the stock z900 seat with HAS Cushion wrap, but dislike it due to the shop using low quality vinyl, it's not even a marine grade vinyl, so i ordered back yet another stock z900 seat from Kawasaki. |

QUOTE(TheOnly @ Sep 18 2018, 11:40 PM) I have changed the stock z900 seat with HAS Cushion wrap, but dislike it due to the shop using low quality vinyl, it's not even a marine grade vinyl, so i ordered back yet another stock z900 seat from Kawasaki. why not just re-vinyl elsewhere? how much did the stock Z900 seat cost? i did HAS cushion too....the change that HAS cushion made is really good IMHO... definitely a better posture and more comfortable and it takes ALOT longer for my butt to start hurting. did almost 1.4k km over the Malaysia Day weekend and the seat was tolerable.... only downside is that despite them putting a layer of plastic over the cushion before laying the vinyl, i still had some minor wetness on the seat after riding in a storm for about 5-6 hours. squeezing the seat, some water will come out from the stitching....position of stitching is far back and amount of water is little that it doesnt bother me that much. if u re-vinyl, let me know location and cost please... might consider doing it. anyway... double bubble windscreen arrived and worked really well during the 1.4k km ride. i think i will be keeping the double bubble on the bike permanently as it worked really well and it looks better than expected. i still prefer the looks for the SE lookalike though. however, i only tested with a helmet not many people use... which is a dual sport helmet with the peak removed. an AFX FX-41. i still need to find time and place to test with my MT Helmet flipup which is a more common type of helmet people use like a full face. comparing the standard, SE, and double bubble... Wind blast standard - holy mother of god! hang on for dear life! SE - goes above the chest and slightly to the shoulder but my MT Helmet flipup feels like it is being lifted up off my head at speeds above 160kmh. never went that fast on the AFX... but at normal riding speeds, the AFX is fine. double bubble - above chest...minimal on shoulder... works fine with my AFX dual sport helmet up to 160kmh... above that, the helmet starts being pushed back and it causes neck strain fighting the wind for prolonged periods. have to tuck in a little to be comfortable. Wind noise Note: i've always considered the MT Helmet to be quiet... while the AFX has always been a tornado of air and noise no matter what bike. standard - not too bad... feels quite ok with both MT Helmet and AFX. pretty normal even when compared to my previous Z250 setup SE - as above.. ive said the MT helmet is quiet... this windscreen makes it frigin LOUD. so its even worse in the AFX. ear plugs recommended for long rides. double bubble - similar to SE... LOUD. ear plugs recommended. my 1.4k km ride was with the AFX and some RM2.50 3M ear plugs from hardware store. this combo worked really well. on to da pix standard vs SE lookalike vs double bubble double bubble from the side double bubble from rider's view Notes: 1/ the bracket in the pic is the bracket that came with the SE lookalike. both uses the same bracket layout/design. however, the double bubble bracket is not full of holes. bracket installation can also be a little fiddly to match up the holes to the coverset 2/ I also added a foam layer over the center bridge to avoid the bracket scratching or cracking the windscreen 3/ I also added a foam spacer to the upper screws between bracket and windscreen to give it a little more clearance for the center bridge. side by side comparison between SE and double bubble. next up... need to get me a tail tidy, LED signals n nicer side mirrors... but im in a dilemma as to which side mirror would look nice and still be functional may go for the EMS tail tidy.
