nyahahahhahaha..... dah bro... baru pickup last week and done 700km dah....

will do... hopefully it arrives before the 14th.... got a northern tour ride on 15-17 would be a good time to test it out.

its gonna be long....i ordered on 26th August... and today's status is "despatch from sorting center" which means its still in China.

While the other windshield i ordered is already in malaysian customs.

why not just re-vinyl elsewhere? how much did the stock Z900 seat cost?

i did HAS cushion too....the change that HAS cushion made is really good IMHO... definitely a better posture and more comfortable and it takes ALOT longer for my butt to start hurting. did almost 1.4k km over the Malaysia Day weekend and the seat was tolerable....

only downside is that despite them putting a layer of plastic over the cushion before laying the vinyl, i still had some minor wetness on the seat after riding in a storm for about 5-6 hours. squeezing the seat, some water will come out from the stitching....position of stitching is far back and amount of water is little that it doesnt bother me that much.

if u re-vinyl, let me know location and cost please... might consider doing it.



anyway... double bubble windscreen arrived and worked really well during the 1.4k km ride. i think i will be keeping the double bubble on the bike permanently as it worked really well and it looks better than expected. i still prefer the looks for the SE lookalike though. however, i only tested with a helmet not many people use... which is a dual sport helmet with the peak removed. an AFX FX-41. i still need to find time and place to test with my MT Helmet flipup which is a more common type of helmet people use like a full face.

comparing the standard, SE, and double bubble...

Wind blast
standard - holy mother of god! hang on for dear life!
SE - goes above the chest and slightly to the shoulder but my MT Helmet flipup feels like it is being lifted up off my head at speeds above 160kmh. never went that fast on the AFX... but at normal riding speeds, the AFX is fine.
double bubble - above chest...minimal on shoulder... works fine with my AFX dual sport helmet up to 160kmh... above that, the helmet starts being pushed back and it causes neck strain fighting the wind for prolonged periods. have to tuck in a little to be comfortable.

Wind noise
Note: i've always considered the MT Helmet to be quiet... while the AFX has always been a tornado of air and noise no matter what bike.
standard - not too bad... feels quite ok with both MT Helmet and AFX. pretty normal even when compared to my previous Z250 setup
SE - as above.. ive said the MT helmet is quiet... this windscreen makes it frigin LOUD. so its even worse in the AFX. ear plugs recommended for long rides.
double bubble - similar to SE... LOUD. ear plugs recommended. my 1.4k km ride was with the AFX and some RM2.50 3M ear plugs from hardware store. this combo worked really well.

Notes:
1/ the bracket in the pic is the bracket that came with the SE lookalike. both uses the same bracket layout/design. however, the double bubble bracket is not full of holes. bracket installation can also be a little fiddly to match up the holes to the coverset
2/ I also added a foam layer over the center bridge to avoid the bracket scratching or cracking the windscreen
3/ I also added a foam spacer to the upper screws between bracket and windscreen to give it a little more clearance for the center bridge.

next up... need to get me a tail tidy, LED signals n nicer side mirrors... but im in a dilemma as to which side mirror would look nice and still be functional

U mean the ems tail tidy? Its in mudah...1 seller in shah alam n another in penang... Penang one cheaper though

oh damn... hope not much damage to the bike....

this is the main reason i dun wanna use the disc lock (even though i got it as a free gift).... scary la....even with the reminder cable.

i think a simple padlock at the sprocket might be better and less damaging in case u forgot.

I've only ever used liqui moly once in my life and it was the semi 10w40 street.... and i only used it on my previous Z250.... engine was super rough... vibration increase... gear changes were super notchy.

hated it.... never gonna use that brand again

changed to a cheaper castrol power-1 10w40 semi and everything was smooooooooooottthhh....


i agree... definitely a damn good job...i guess my vinyl isnt as bad as urs (or i think its ok) plus my stitches are minimal compared to urs too. so not much water seepage.

mechanically... both bikes are exactly the same. just the difference in accesories and color.

so depends on whether or not u think the extra accesories is worth it. and whether or not u like the color the SEs come in.

if u like it... go for it man... i was tempted to change my order to the Z900RS while waiting for my loan approval too


huh? the battery can last that long? is that continuous non-stop recording?

u can check on mudah for the price... but its definitely more expensive than the Z900.

mostly the same except changes like the frame and addition of rider modes.

not too sure about specs diff... but im sure google will have this info.

anyone discovered any info on fitting a center stand into the Z900?

coz the Z900RS has an optional center stand from kawa... wondering if its possible to fit into the Z900

all bikes with dual lamps/bulbs will only have 1 side light up for low beam....its law.

if it were me, id stick to the stock chain and just keep running it...bear with the sound.

the kawa stock chains n sprocket sets aint cheap at around RM1k. and they last really long. as opposed to the aftermarket branded chain sets (which are usually cheaper)

because old, unsold stock. even my bike was bought in 2018 but manufactured in 2017.

Unfortunately, manufacturing year is what ppeople look at to determine resale value.

You can try scout around to see if any shops have newer stocks but i think its a little unlikely. even the newer colors launched last year/ this year isnt available yet in malaysia... the newest versions are the red and the green.


ive seen quite a number of used Z900s around that price... not sure why. maybe coz the bike wasnt that expensive to begin with.

if manufacturing year is important to u... then ur definitely gonna have to hunt around to see if any shops have 2018 or 2019 year....but i seriously doubt it.

and since not much choice, get the best deal u can on watever year...even if its 2017.

The qebsite may have just been a copy n paste...also check that its z900 or z900rs...they r different bikes

But both oso only has the 2017 models
