Toyota is investing to collect driving data and other companies are doing for the reasons best known to them.
*
Yeah, but they are essentially buying something that is already there. I think very few investors right now wants to help start ups like MyCar to burn money paying incentives to drivers or giving promos to passengers. It will take a long time to build a huge customer base then only the data is meaningful.

I think sooner will happen...can reduce queue time klia...
or restrict (can't queue) without drop off klia...
*
They really should do this... Prioritize those who are dropping off at KLIA. This will give less incentives for drivers to go bangau at airport, so there will be more drivers in city areas.

Last time I landed at KLIA before the queue system was put in place. I book at the Arrival gate, terus dapat a driver who was a few hundred meters away only. Now what is it like for passengers? Minimum waiting time they have to wait for driver to drive from Landslide or CF, right? That is assuming that drivers don't cancel on them. If not have to wait longer. The reason why drivers don't want to take short trips at KLIA is because they already waited 3 to 4 hours so they feel less than RM65 is not worth it.

If they prioritize those who are dropping off at KLIA then I think more likely drivers will accept less than RM65 trips.

Sohai Grab...

Why don't they copy Uber's queue system that allows short trips but remain in the queue to get trips back to KL? Haih...

I think Grab purposely hires noob programmers because they are scared that good programmers will run away with their code. The kiasu way. This is what they mean they don't hire people who don't fit in their culture or "talented but arrogant pricks".

Grab is working with Nutonomy in Singapore on driverless technology.

I said this before, Grab (and Uber at that time) should keep the fare and driver incentives reasonable, while generate auxiliary income from ads or other sources.

But no news wan. Diam2 only.

Uber has the record losses 10  billions USD and softbank is still throwing funds into it. And Valuation for Uber is at 72 Billion USD. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/201...-to-show-for-it
*
Valuation only. They are not publicly listed yet.

I also can say my house is 600k, but whether I can find buyer willing to pay that amount is another story. Even if you hire a professionaly evaluator, doesn't mean you can sell your house for the amount that they think your house is worth.

Let's see what they're gonna do when Uber goes public. Probably some really nasty shit.

Ooops. I missed out a few points. She said since the announcement about regulations for e-hailing, she start to get more and more taxis picking her up.

Yeah I know she use JustGrab. But I find it interesting that taxis are accepting Grab's fares now. How does it work? They still run meter or follow Grab's fixed rate?

Is this an indication that there are less drivers on the road so the booking goes to taxis?

yes, follow GRAB's fare but commission is 5% only GRAB take if not mistaken.

Doesn't mean anything, just her luck.
*
Hmm.. if taxis willing to accept that fare then maybe Grab is not so worried about losing drivers by imposing AA.

not necessarily. alot of riders I know die die won't take taxi no matter what. GRAB earns lesser from taxi as well.
*
But they use JustGrab. Then taxi come and pick up.

But yeah, problem also. That passenger complained the taxis very impatient and not friendly or rude.

QUOTE(bojed @ Aug 5 2018, 05:12 PM)
So I made a complaint to Grab via the driver app about this super far pick-up distance and I asked them to remove my cancellation for this trip from my CR.

Report a past trip issue > Report a map or location issue.

The first e-mail they replied to me was that they don't respond to map or location feedback submissions at the moment. Why the hell did they offer that option in the first place? I knew I was about to be screwed left and right.

Then came in the second e-mail. To make the long story short, the staff said they can't remove this cancellation from my CR. Basically, it was my fault that the app showed the rider was 6km away from me but somehow it became 11km after I accepted his request.

That was it. I'll still be a Grab driver for the time being but now I am very confident this company has absolutely no interest in keeping their driver partners a little bit happy.
*
This is what Grab CS replied to me last time. Deswai I say HG will kena trap with far pick ups. You can be one side of the highway and ping come from the other side then GG super far u-turn. 6km also u accept bro? Haiz whatever la, next week no choice liao.

Greetings from GRAB.

Thank you for writing in regarding the cancelled booking due to the distance from you location to the pick up location.

It has been communicated to all our drivers that a standard booking to be received is within 5KM and drivers are required to accept the booking or it will result in the drop of their acceptance rate.

Please be more vigilant in this matter and do avoid cancelling job offer within 5KM. Your service to our passengers are very much needed and we hope you could cooperate with us diligently in future.

Hope this clarifies.

Do note that all the reports sent to Help Centre will be reviewed by the relevant department for necessary action to be taken.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

We hope you have a pleasant day ahead and we look forward to your continuous support as we are striving to improve and enhance our service to serve you better.

Thank you for supporting Grab.

Then I said I don't think 5km pick up is reasonable and this is the reply.

LOL.

Well done to Grab - the greatest troll master in Malaysia 🤣

No AR and next-day incentive payment is a nice welcome though.
*
They already plan that you won't be able to earn much incentives also.

Maybe cannot even hit the minimum RM10 requirement for cash out. laugh.gif

Better don't use CR

QUOTE(bojed @ Aug 5 2018, 07:28 PM)
Grab should forego the HG incentives and offer trip-based incentives instead, like what Uber used to do.

This, coupled with dynamic pricing during peak hours, might be a slightly better solution to solve the demand and supply issue in the city center, rather than this cheap ass AA enforcement.
*
That kind of system will break Grab's system. 1 month server down. At least.

Uber's trip based incentives also.. Dynamic one.. Haiz..

1st time give u nice bonus, 2nd time become less, then less some more, then less some more... Haiz...
