If by filter, you mean the filter in front of the lens, then, that has nothing to do with the filter causing the halo. It is caused by your processing stage that you have used a heavier setting. Keep an eye on the high contrast edges the next time you post process your HDR images.

The halo was already there before I process the images as HDR. Slightly noticeable in the original images.

What do you mean how do i do this? Is is a question about IR (Infra Red), or HDR itself?
If about IR, then, this photo was captured using an IR dslr, it is a Nikon D70 which is modified/convert to IR.
So the photo will come out straight from the camera like below (original photos before tone mapping & further treatment):
