Sure is zero benefit? Skyactiv is high compression engine.
I'm not expert but I read some article and research, high compression better use highet Ron, not true?
If the engine tuning don't support higher for such RON rating, putting higher RON petrol is no difference then regular fuel. It is akin like driving a ferrari at 110km/h speed limit; can go higher but limited.

The power gain I noticed was very minimal. In terms Ron 97, you'll feel a little bit more low end power compared to Ron 95 but as mentioned, very minimal.
Thats just my feeling with the car between 97/95.
Oh yeah, you guys may receive a Carbon Cleaner lately when you send your M3 to service.
You'll have to pump high octane petrol to clean in. I pumped Ron 97, again I don't feel much difference after the clean up.
At really hot temperatures, it is slightly more noticeable, but really not worth it. I even tried RON100 before, the difference also can be felt slightly at really hot weathers. But the engine revving sound was a little different.
The only real benefit for RON97 is for the lower sulfur content, which can slightly extend engine oil life and lesser sulfur dioxide emissions.
How much they charge for the carbon cleaning service? RM300?

The notion of extra cleaning agents in RON 97 is also dubious.
There is definitely added cleaning and lubricating additives. But as you say, the end result is quite "dubious", not really worth the money.

Car ecu remapped to accomodate Ron 95. So, not much difference in using Ron 97
In actual fact, the current factory tune still didn't fully take advantage of RON95. Can further advance the spark timing and some added VVT mapping to increase power, torque and responsiveness.
