Gents, i am thinking of getting Mazda 3 but debating over getting the GL or High Spec.
The difference is RM 15k, is it worth it? seek opinions from those who have owned and familiar with this car.
*
im using GL.
for this main reason its cheaper(16" tyre is also a factor) to maintain in the long run as i seldom change cars. my last car was an ncp42 vios.
with all the electronics gadget in highspecs its bound to go bust and costly.

so far my only quarrel with it is
no autolock/door lock button - easily rectifiable by reprogram the software last i check can pay someone to do it rm150
no gps map although it has GPS - softmod it through internet seller rm150
no power seat . didnt mind so much about leather seat
no led headlights which ruin a bit the look at night and people know that youre a cheapskate biggrin.gif
no steering shift -
this one is a no brainer , the only time i used it in my e90 is to test the system its gimmicky somewhat
and you can use the gear shift to +/- gear if you need it so much , so far trunk road never had any need for it
as the autogearbox is SUPERB and totally satisfied with its performance on serious driving, just sometime when super relax n santai
its a tiny bit micro jerky wanting you to push more or perhaps its just my right foot.

and my only regret for not getting the highspecs which i think is really annoying is
- no autolock get away / autounlock door have to use button like normal car to lock an unlock
and mind you sometime left the keys inside the car and wonder whered id put it because of this function
which after a while makes you wonder if the 20k+ extra is justifiable just to have this option.

@ralfvi, haha thanks for sharing your experience.

I agree with LED light but i decided that in the end strangers will be judging you only, so i wouldnt really care.

I am more interested if the extra 20k can have the difference of making the interior more posh.
*
posh ? i you think leather and power seat + steering gear pedal is posh.

in the end have to look at the complete package on whether its worth it for you.
if you ask me the price difference is right for both package and somehow mazda adjust the package so you`ll feel
lost for not going the extra but then again that is basic marketing and selling and i grudgingly couldnt blame them for doing that.

i go cheap because im calculating the price diff + interest on it
and also the overall maintenance cost down the road.
having all those extra gadget is always good but im thinking of long ownership and
the cost/time/headache spent when it when kaput after warranty.

Hi guys! What do you guys think of 2010/2011 Mazda 3 sedan? Is it okay or are there expected issues? Planning to get one used below rm35k with below 100k mileage
*
seems like quite reliable.my cousin is using one for 3 years he bought a used unit.
and been doing grab/uber with the car.
price of parts also acceptable and most shares parts with ford focus.
only downside of getting used car in malaysia is the milleage mostly has been tampered.
if youre have more or crazy for speed can check the MPS model.

Sick of it already, change twice already, 2 months later will go in again to claim warranty for the suspension noise.

Maybe change to this part could solve the lower arm issue for good :
http://www.hardrace.com/Product_detail.asp?id=3725

Group buy anyone?  tongue.gif
yes, you experiment put to coldest setting, the istop led will not show on the dash.
*

price ? or perhaps make a group mazda 2 n 3 owner petition to bermaz and ask them rectified it for all.
btw the kruk2 only affecting malaysian model/SEA or all across the world?

Scrolling thru this page really scares me, I am getting M3 HB next week. Hopefully mine wont have the "kruk kruk" thingy....
*
just minor kruk2 thing. and for me at least it sound louder only in super rainy heavy storm kinda rain.
and ive got it after close to a year of ownership.

QUOTE(wkc5657 @ Jul 2 2018, 11:40 AM)
I changed mine to hankook v12evo2, differences are noticeable. All roads surfaces sounded like newly paved roads on the factory fitted tyres. My radio volume now turned down by 2 points on my favourite channel and can talk with passengers without raising my voice a lot now. Wind noise exceeds tyre noise by around 130km/h, when previously the toyo so damn noisy after 60km/h. Very surprised that it made such a difference.

Rolling resistance also a little lower, so can improve acceleration and fuel consumption a little bit. It really changed the driving refinement in city speeds quite drastically.

If you can wait a little longer to change (after september), i would suggest the soon to be released falken fk510 which has even better rolling refinement rating than the v12evo2 while selling around similar price range.

So my rant to mazda : Please rid yourself of fitting toyo tyres at factory. If you want to support japan products because you're japan company, fit it with falken fk510. It is cheaper yet better than the toyo in both price and performance metrics!!!  ranting.gif
it is about RM1800 if refer australian website, but likely around 2500~3000 when installed. Seriously considering this but not in a hurry at the moment. Thinking of maybe changing it on the 5th year of ownership.

The kruk kruk noise can also be contributed by :
1) the strut bearing
2) the strut mounting
3) the top of the coil spring hitting the strut mounting
4) brake caliper movement

For me, i've done warranty claim on parts 1 to 3, but didn't resolve till date. Point 4 was discovered by a neighbourhood small franchised dealer. The mechanic there dismantled the front caliper and added more lube on the caliper pins and the pin chambers. It reduced the noise occurrence drastically, but only for a short 1 to 2 months period  sweat.gif  Seems like a similar incident to a number of previous generation's mazda3 due to caliper pin design. Not sure whether this is an issue to the facelifted GVC version.
*
thanks for the input
the falken fk510 & v12evo2 how much does it cost for R16?
am thinking of ps4 but if the price/performance is about the same ill go for cheaper.

Falken fk510 doesn't have size for 16 inch rims.

v12evo2 and ps4 have tyres for 16 inch rims, but for 205/55 instead of the OEM spec 205/60 profile.

Here's the indicative pricing online :
v12evo 2 : https://www.mudah.my/Malaysia/hankook+205-f...k+205&so=1&st=s
ps4 : https://www.mudah.my/205+55+16+MICHELIN+PIL...ar-64512381.htm

But seeing the price difference, i would personally just get the ps4, but the hankook has slightly better rolling refinement with reduced grip performance (but not by too much).

For my size with 18 inch, the difference between the 2 is approaching 1000, so quite a hard swallow for me to get the ps4.
*
thumbup.gif thanks.
r16 ps4 for rm360/o quite tempting as the hankook v12 is rm290/o
but r18 ps4 is rm630/o shocking.gif . might as well just use hankook

Mazda 3 or subaru xv? I know its different category.

Any mazda 3 owner can give review of the car? looking at Mazda 3 Sedan 2.0 SkyActiv High spec
*
if you have kids or planning to have one , i think better XV.
didnt know that am going to be a father. doh.gif
else i chose xv also.

anyway bare in mind subaru is a bit of a cold brand in malaysia and
service centres/parts is also a hassle somewhat.

Same thing happened to me. The kruk kruk noise cannot be solved despite numerous visits to Service Center.
1. Replace the Lower arm [x4 times]
2. Replace stopper [x2 times]
3. Replace Strut Bearing & Mounting [x2 times]
4. Replace Brake Caliper [Greasing & EVEN IMPROVED PIN]

Other Items replaced:
1. Engine & Gearbox Mounting [vibration during idling]
2. Pulley Tensioner [leaking] x2
3. Wheel Nut rusty [QC issue]
4. Low paint quality - easily to get Stone chip [vs other cars]

I think is boils down to the design defect which unable to solve even on new CX-5 there are complains regarding this kruk kruk issue.
*
Deng, need to learn from you how to tiaw SC. thumbup.gif
btw no4. low paint quality , you ask them for new paint ka?

My father planning to buy new car (because 0% gst), he got eyes on Civic 2018 1.8s and Mazda3 2.0 SkyActiv GL.

He asked for my opinion but i know shits about car but he leaned more on Mazda3 because of safety.

So how was Mazda3 compared to Civic especially maintenance, fuel consumption and resale value?
*
if not on tight budget. try to rent both cars and see for yourselves which you/father would like better.

i was between this two also , really keen on the civic but having test drove the two
i chose the 3 as i love to drive fast and the 3 superb engine and handling is just a class on it owns
plus to top it off the free service just made the purchase for me .
not choosing honda because of unreliability issues* (more complaint as i read through the lowyat civic club/honda facebook , seeing more than a couple of civics being towed to SC. but then again could also be for its higher sales )

anyway please also be aware of the famous kruk2 sound if youll decide on the mazda. its nothing serious just damn annoying when it came on rainy days. can complaint to SC and change parts but as some shared here it just doesnt goes away.
and also less cubby for storage inside cabin and less boot storage as the civics/altis has a plenty.

deep crystal blue.

now im not sure whether to accept their sky tint konica or take the rm1k cash voucher for the tinting . any feedback?

apart from the 'kruk kruk' sound when going over bumps on a rainy day, there isn't any major issue with the car right?
*
so far 1 year of ownership. no issues other than kruk kruk and terrible SC ive been to 2 place both is quite the same.
hopefully some 2014 owner with high milleage can share here the ownership after 100k km because thats where fragile
cars starts to give you headache.

I visited one of the showrooms and apparently there are no cars to test drive at all for all models (not just Mazda 3) due to the sales from no GST? Can someone let me know if any showroom in the greater KL area has a M3 for test driving?

Choosing between this and the Civic 1.5TC.
*
try going big showroom like Glenmarie or Sungai besi.
small shop lot showroom are lousy with test drive cars.
they have limited budget so they try to lower their cost by having test drive cars that were popular sell.
like m2 or cx5

Oh this one, it is more like fuel system cleaner, or intake/injector cleaner, not exactly effective in cleaning the intake side carbon deposits as skyactiv engine direct injected, the fuel don't directly touch the intake valves.

But not bad lar.....give you free....my side diam saja....some more advertise threebond cleaning (of course with extra charges)....
*
three bond how many milleage its good to do one and how much the charge?
