Exactly. And not just because the SD650 is built using 28nm manufacturing process. The big core for SD650 is the Cortex-A72 (older big core) while that particular Exynos that i mentioned is using Cortex-A73 as big core and is built using 14nm manufacturing process.

Has anybody faced the "Looks like the ROM installed on your device is unofficial. Contact your distributor to get help" label on your phone?

Not yet. Fastboot for global is not available. I kinda gave up and would just use current china rom as it is.

Officially global rom is not available. The last release was buggy enough that they had it pulled down 2 days after release. Many sellers who downloaded during that period quickly force flash the buggy rom and sell it as "global rom" units, which gave you that error message.

There is a workaround method suggested in xiaomi forum but it doesn't seem to last and message pop up again not long after.

Should I wait for the them to fix the global rom or should I flash it to China ROM?

Sound like download from mi website and update download manual.. my mix 2 also facing a problem can't change from stable to beta rom.

I considering between getting this phone and Nokia 6 but Nokia 6 2018 is releasing globally soon. Not sure I should wait or just get Redmi 5 Plus.

The display is far far better compared to[owned the phone - Redmi note 4 and a1 ][review by china bilibili - honor 7x , meizu m6s , 360 5] that why mi retain the SoC625 , caused Mi use better display compared to competitors , the price still remain 999RMB.

wooow , just tried out mi5 charger , this phone support quick charged. top of the notification barshow quick charged icon. far better compared to redmi note 4 which take 2 and half hours to fully charged , redmi 5 plus take 1 and half hours for fully charged.

the phone come with silicone softcase.

the camera for redmi series just so so only , can't expect much due to budget phone with fullview display and midrange SoC.

Redmi note 4 price RM599 , Redmi 5 plus latest price is 688... for those plan to get redmi note 4 better top up another RM89 for better display + quick charge + better camera + better audio quality.

Due to USD dropped , really good timing to get this phone , after election USD will raise again and the price will naik liao.

3GB is far enough if use as sparephone , normally 500mb - 1.2gb free ram.

is depend on you bro.... 5 plus with fullview display 5.99.... nokia 6 better build quality and better SoC SD630....

phone below 1.1K with fullview display, compared to honor 7x and meizu 6s and 360 n5... redmi 5 plus display is da best...

I wouldn't consider other Chinese smartphone manufacturer due to their poor software support. Huawei software support had gotten better recently but still mediocre in my opinion.

Miui has global international rom, mean international language come with Google play store.

Another is Chinese rom only , no Google play store, still can install google play store from mi apps store.

There is no permanent for Google play store, once is factory reset for all Google's apps is gone.

But you can restore from mi could.

Try this first and see if it removes the message:

Go to settings: System apps - Security - Disable "Allow internet connection".

Now go back and click onto Installed apps - Security - Clear Data

If it doesnt work then if u want to flash china rom, first apply to unlock bootloader, go download china stable rom and the necessary programmes on a windows pc. Once approval given then wait 72/360 hours before can flash. Fir the steps, u better check with miui forum

How the shop install "Global ROM" onto the phone without applying for bootloader unlock?
I don't think shop like DirectD will apply to unlock the bootloader for 10 or 20 units just like that right?

I recall having read a post earlier about a tool that can load rom without the need to request unlock bootloader. Check a few pages back.

But when i went to that tool's page, the author dropped a note that the tool is buggy and he has yet to fix it. So those sellers maybe were able to load the rom into the phone but didnt bother to test use it to discover the subsequent issue that came after.
