you miss the point that this games is RPG games. The most important thing in RPG is the storyline. Even fallout 3 look like fallout 2, i still gonna play it anyway.LOL.

I hope i can ride two-head cow rather than a car. that will be awesome.

Urgh... I just hate the Oblivion feel of these characters. I don't know if I care to do anything for these people, I might just blow them all up! lol

I'm going to play it anyway. biggrin.gif

Don't put too much high hopes on F3...

It's a far cry from its epic predecessors. Just play the game to experience the post-apocalyptic atmosphere smile.gif It will no doubt be a solid shooter...but nothing more than that.

After having watched several F3 gameplay videos, I feel kinda disappointed by the voice acting. Not only are they terrible, but the voice actors are recycled!! The voice actor for the guy in the suit at Megaton was also the voice actor for Lucien Lachance (Dark Brotherhood) and the guy that buzzes you in at Tenpenny Tower was the guy who provided the voices for the Redguard race. Damn, can't Bethesda find new voice actors for a new game sheeessh. Whenever I hear that dude's voice, I get reminded of Oblivion.

So it is true then...Oblivion with guns!! Nooooo

laugh.gif .. its pseudo-RPG game .. it's a game that was despised by both hardcore FPS-er and true RPG-er .. a combination of bioshock, GTA build using oblivion based on some fallout canon.

That's an interesting topic for debate. Personally, I'm intrigued by these new hybrid RPGs. Bioshock leans more towards the FPS-side, but it was an excellent and well received game. GTA is unquestionably an action game/RPG hybrid, and they're excellent games as well.

So far this year, the RPGs I've played are the Mask of the Betrayer expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2 and Mass Effect. MotB is a perfect example of the RPG as it used to be and it was a good game, while Mass Effect is emblematic of the new FPS/RPG hybrids, and despite the mediocrity of its FPS elements, I found it to be a far better RPG than MotB. I wrote a short review of ME for my blog, and I hope I'll be forgiven for linking it here.

I can understand the frustrations that old-school party-based RPG fans must feel. I myself bought NWN2 despite the mediocre reviews and less than stellar graphics, even for its time, because I felt the need to support a game that still used the old party-based system. But at the same time, I'm genuinely delighted by the prospect of these shooter/RPG hybrids. There's no reason to disdain them simply for being what they are. If they're good games, then they're good games. No need to feel elitist about it.

Just because it has stats building doesn't mean it is an RPG game.

RPG game's mechanic relies on your character's stats, calculated based on an event to determine the outcome, instead of player's reflexing skill.

RPG game has story telling and allows a player to make a choice and accept its consequence.

RPG game allows a player to use any method to solve a problem be it physical (combat or thievery) or mentally (persuasion, intimidate, seduction etc social skills).

You'd think Beth could write something even remotely coherent? Oblivion's one piece of boring literature.

I think most fans here (F3 not bethesda) want the "feel or ambience" of the post apocalyptic environment on F3.
One of very few games which "ticks" me on that was : Stalker.
For a neutral gamer F3 certainly will be regarded as one of most awaited game this year.
We cannot judge the game from its preview alone (we can only speculate)

COD 4 did not garner as much fans as Crysis did b4 its release, however from sales alone COD 4 easily beats crysis (gameplay too i suppose judging from multiplayer)
The reason this game was suffering scathing attacks was bcos of its long awaited sequel (Like the recent indiana jones movie).
Maybe this games has some surprise up its sleeve (like Oblivion compared to morrowind)

there's no point putting "point" for leveling up when you shoot people using your l33t CS skill .. a FPS with skill point, is not a RPG. the nearest one could get with hybrid FPS/RPG game is Bloodlines and Deus Ex. Oblivion? no.

the only thing people discovered under Oblivion sleeve is how stupid it was compared to morrowind.

Word is to try first before buy. You won't want a double whammy blow if it isn't up to your expectations.

well, u might be true about shooting people with points is not rpg, but u miss out the point of levelling up ur character, inventory system, classes, jobs.. therefore, oblivion IS a rpg with a bit of fps element.. but as for fallout, i rather classify it as turn-base fps..

oh ya .. i forgot, Oblivion had that so called immershun leveling system. no, i didn't missed out anything. oblivion is a FPS with complex skill system but with much less role-playing element compared to The Sims.

please, VATS is not an excuse for "complex turn-base". its a pause shooting system, mere replication of Max Payne.

if you're really interested, maybe you'd want to read from someone who apparently been playing 10hours of FO3 drool.gif

Megaton. Megaton. Beth PR lines. I love F3. Game of the year. Nope, never played F1 and F2 before. It's really nice. Action and consequences. VATS really fun. Megaton. Megaton.

My arse if he did played 10 hours. More like regurgitating preview facts than actual play time.

Now to those "old school", hardcore, interplay loving fallout 1 & 2 series (especially those who hate bethesda, which i don't). This may be a good news to you :
"Interplay relaunches site, rehires original Fallout dev"
"Flush with Fallout IP cash, the once-mighty publisher reestablishes Web presence, announces Chris Taylor on board for Fallout MMOG. "
"Not to be confused with Gas Powered Games' Chris Taylor. "

wow, the sheer amount of sarcasm in one single sentence really awed me.. its a 3 days old news anyway.

nay, mmog would not be suffice to ease this agony. i really hope they start doing fallout using a different name. doesn't matter anyway, beth had fu©ked fallout franchise so hard, it is a disgrace now.

FO3 : where console kiddies won't lose in a fight.
