The Laser Rifle doesn't disintegrate, not in the original games. It cuts the other guy in half and doesn't release the target's inventory like pulse weapons or explosive deaths. I'm thinking of playing a h2h only game (knuckles at first, then kung fu later). Should be fun...
yes, its kinda fun, u can throw more punches per turn than guns. but annoyin part would be those ppl running away from u when they are almost dead. guns is my only resort then to take em down.

Maybe I ought to try flares....Potentially if I had like 300% throw I could get crits on every targeted hit. With better criticals that would be devastating.

Sorry, I must have been confused. Was never a big fan of energy weapons.
I tried hand-to-hand before. As a kung fu expert. Freaking hard to play man... but you get a lot of nice moves.
Melee character has 2 choices of 'uber' weapon - Super sledgehammer and Powerfist.
Use them to hit kids in their groin.
But at the price of not having the Haymaker. Kung Fu master still sounds cooler than a guy with a powered fist. Super slegehammer is just... primitive. Yuck.
Still, gauss rifle is much more fun. Bang, splat, half a torso gone. YUM.
Combat really gets satisfying when you reach the Sniper perk.
Yeap.. Fallout needs to move on man.. Yea Soggie I heard alot bout that. Been seeing progression for fallout3 for a very long time. Although reviews might put that Bethesda don't deserve to take the Fallout license.. but I willing to give them a chance cause I really didn't like Interplay's project on Fallout3 (VanBuren). That is why it went into scraps in the first place. The only thing that I'm praying for is that Bethesda get to implement the Fallout atmosphere into the game.... u noe wut I mean.

In Interplay's defense, they ran out of money. Nothing to do with van buren. Remember the original Fallout basically fell off everybody's radars (a lot of hard core fans remember getting it from the bargain bins)? Didn't do much for FO2 too. And too many people pirating it. That's how it led to the demise of one of the greatest game ever.
As for Beth, oh you bet, they've got the looks of the wasteland in. The only thing that they didn't is the inclusion of the stick-actors from Oblivion. And the questionable credibility of their capability in writing believable and engaging dialogues. And oh, did I mention how FO3 previews nowadays are centered around exploding nuclear cars, super bio-hazard-like mutants and get-shot-in-the-head-and-get-your-limbs-ripped-off kind of quirky physics? Yeah, it is no longer the Fallout you remembered.
haymaker has good critical but with slayer, powerfist would be more superior. get free upgrade from new reno for more powerful "Big Frigger" Power Fist aka megapowerfist.
Hahaha yea I noe it hurts man. Yea I saw some demos, doesn't give me the feel of the same environment in the Fallout World anymore. But nvm.. wth. Nothing that we could possibly do about it but just to play it when it comes out. Guess will be "oblivion with guns". Well in my opinion, the least that they could do is add some fallout2 stuffs like how fallout2 has some fallout1 stuffs so it makes it feel somehow related in a way when u play the game.

opp2 .. there's something you missed there ..
fallout 2 was like fallout 1 but with SOME unrelated stuff, while FO3 .. well, let just say they managed to keep the bloody mess perk along with mr. handy as your hair cutter

i love oblivion with guns. guess that's what i am gonna see in fallout3. quite tempted with the demo...hell, it's about time for FPS view.
yeah right, soon we'll be having a dumb down version of everything so that FPS-mode can be implement. Diablo FPS, SimCity FPS, Chess Master FPS, Age of Empire FPS
