Is it just me or does our turbo engine feel out stamina on really hot days? Today is the second time I encountered this. It was about 35-37 degrees outside (based on the temp indicator in the meter) and the car has been in the sun for 1.5 hours. I got in, started, switched the AC to 21 degrees and drove on normal mode. When I reached the highway about 5 minutes later, I felt like the car was struggling to get past 100. I had to push it harder to even keep up with a Vios in acceleration.
This is the second time in a month that I've felt this way....both times after lunch on a hot day. No such issues in the mornings or nights so far.
Any thoughts?

Is your oil life nearing to service interval? A drop in performance can be felt when the oil life is about 2000km left...

Any change of Petrol brand, RON?
I noticed certain petrol station/brands gave slightly lesser pull power from standstill... not too sure whether it is a placebo effect.

When up genting I feel the car very powerful strong pickup even with 2k-2.5k rpm, probably due to cold air.

If tint outside power window spoil due to installation for sure void warranty. It is like you screw up the car outside but expected able to claim warranty free from SC. If SA tint they would still sent to internal or outside workshop panel but at least if anything spoil the responsible will still under the SC that the SA belongs to. Personally I tint outside myself for best value money.

Into my 1.5 months driving my 1.5TCP WOP, and here's some observations:

1. Rattling from A pillar and also Right side of driver's door is audible, at low speed (<30km/h).

2. Semi-rattling sound from right side of the driver's air cond vent whenever A/C is at above speed 2.

3. WOP bumper colour is slightly yellowish compared to the body. Hardly noticeable, unless you know that it is different.

4. Current FC is at around 11.6km/l. Total mileage is 2.1K, mainly town use with MINIMAL traffic congestion. Average speed at around 80-90km/h for town use.. ECO mode ON for town use... Is this normal?

I have an appointment tomorrow to check on my rattling sounds....

So far it is still a fun ride... No regrets... smile.gif

Dear all ...i can't reply earlier due to the thred v6 was closed...i would say 220 kmh cut off just nice...not going to shoot up to 200kmh all the way la...i mean short burst to 220kmh since the civic gets up to 207 very fast ...depends on the road ...clear open road ok....overtaking cars from far ...thats dangerous...volkswagen jetta can hit 240 kmh and it's not as quick as the civic ...so I don't see why 220 kmh can't be the cut off

Drove to Terrenganu and back over the weekend. Refueled art the BHP just after the Karak entry. Managed to last the entire trip and back, which was 713 km. Cost me 39.6 litres of fuel. Could've been better but was stuck in a bit of traffic in Kuantan.

Japan still having this rule to cap out at 180 km/h?

I remember friend's FD2R went to 260+ must have been modified then... he said limited by the gearbox cause rev cut at 6th gear only gets you there.

I actually experience the same thing. Though it’s not very sluggish, but I can feel that the car is not as powerful when compared to morning/night time. Initially I thought I was oversensitive. Not sure if this is the characteristic of the car? Lol

After some search online. It seems like it is a general characteristic for cars to have poorer performance under heat. Though it can be more pronounced in turbo cars. Generally, turbo engines (NA too) would perform much better with cold air (cold air have higher density compared to hot air).

yeap. that is why the intercooler is cooling the air before going back to the engine again
