Is it just me or does our turbo engine feel out stamina on really hot days? Today is the second time I encountered this. It was about 35-37 degrees outside (based on the temp indicator in the meter) and the car has been in the sun for 1.5 hours. I got in, started, switched the AC to 21 degrees and drove on normal mode. When I reached the highway about 5 minutes later, I felt like the car was struggling to get past 100. I had to push it harder to even keep up with a Vios in acceleration.
This is the second time in a month that I've felt this way....both times after lunch on a hot day. No such issues in the mornings or nights so far.
Any thoughts?

My TC, at night usually feel more responsive than hot day time. but not by much. definitely wont feel struggle to reach 100km/h.. still powerful.. biggrin.gif

I think is normal. my other car crz also feel more responsive at night.. dono why.. lol

Dear all ...i can't reply earlier due to the thred v6 was closed...i would say 220 kmh cut off just nice...not going to shoot up to 200kmh all the way la...i mean short burst to 220kmh since the civic gets up to 207 very fast ...depends on the road ...clear open road ok....overtaking cars from far ...thats dangerous...volkswagen jetta can hit 240 kmh and it's not as quick as the civic ...so I don't see why 220 kmh can't be the cut off
*
Stock Jetta can hit 240kmh? sure bo? even from their website top speed 220kmh. Current Jetta 148hp only, can reach 240kmh is amazing...

I actually experience the same thing. Though it’s not very sluggish, but I can feel that the car is not as powerful when compared to morning/night time. Initially I thought I was oversensitive. Not sure if this is the characteristic of the car? Lol

Here explain why drop in performance for turbo cars in hot summer days.... biggrin.gif

Urgh very ma fan. I'll just stick with Halogen. No option to opt for LED lights but not taking the 1.5 TC-P? laugh.gif
*
Can just change to LED H11 bulb or philips/osram white color light halogen bulb lor.. actually civic projector headlight design also quite nice.. Offcourse if budget for addtional 8k is not much, then buyer should go for TC-P.

Save money and just change the rubbers on your Civic wipers. It costs less than RM20 if i’m not mistaken.
*
Only RM 20? I went to Honda Stockiest @ Paramount and was quoted RM 80 just for the original rubber. Whole set will cost near to RM 300. Which stockiest RM 20? Mine going to change soon.

Thanks

Ha3! Last I changed the rubbers was back 6 years ago iinm on the old FD2. The price was indeed around RM20 for 1, less than RM50 for both. Maybe the price increased somewhere along the way.
*

if Full set wiper will cost RM 400++. Need to order. Damn expensive. hmm.gif

Today I park my car outside. Heavy rain without thunder and my car alarm went off few times. Is that normal ?
*
Mine the same. my office area got a big TNB power box. I think is bcos of frequency interference. Alarm went off many times when raining. But only happen to my car.. all other cars nearby no problem. Complained to SC. they said normal. nothing wrong. bangwall.gif ask me off the ultrasonic sensor everytime leaving my car.. stupid solution.

Yeah, i agree with that. Coating does not protect from stone chips. But i am quite worried on the quality of the paint itself. That's why checking with other owners is it normal?
*
We cant avoid stone chips especially when we often travel on highway with high speed. Mine also kena few on bonnet. I just touch up with Ezy touch up paint. Now can only see if very near. Mine Lunar Silver so not so obvious compared to other colors .

Btw, how is the Ezy touch up paint? Easy to apply?Did u use artist brush/different tool like toothpick to just dab on the chipped area?
*
Ya is easy to apply (Paint then followed with clear coat) They provide brush in the bottle and another very small brush like toothpick.

No matter what you still have to touch up to avoid rust in that chip area.

First few days heart pain to see only lar.. after weeks.. i don't even care and notice anymore.. lol..

Anyone has replaced their Civic's battery? Mine less than 1.5yr old and during my recent service, they told me the battery charge level is weak and replace. Its 59%. They use Panasonic battery which cost RM290. Does ppl here use the Honda's Panasonic battery or got outside to change for around RM200? Does changing of the battery reset some electronics and its better to change at SC or its ok just change outside to save money? Your thoughts and experience pls.
*
1.5 yr consider good. Mine dead in 1 year 1 month. Changed new in SC 280+. RM 200 outside? impossible la.. unless is City battery. Civic bigger battery outside also need 240-260. Not much diff better change at SC to avoid warranty issue. No reset i think. Mine all the settings still there after changed.

i don't normally ferry ppl so having really big interior is not really a biggie to me.

But Civic does look sportier outside but if the basic unit, looks abit meh unless I take up the 1.5 but that's another 15 - 20k.

It would feel like non-stop topping up.

But I think the Civic will consume petrol more than the 1.5 City due to the bigger engine ?
*
I owned 1.5TC and drove my inlaw Honda City (latest gen) quite often when i back hometown. I can say is totally different class in terms of driving experience. Civic feel a alot more solid and stable. Steering feel, handling, material used totally different class. City door is so light and plastic everywhere. Torsion beam rear suspension rather bumpy.

If you get a car just to go from Point A to B, driving experience/driving fun is not that important & prefer smaller car to move around town then City lo.. cheaper 20k smile.gif

To me when you sell your car.. u can sell your civic 15-20k higher next time vs city.(Civic one of the best resale value car).. At the end still the same. But at least u drive a better car/1 segment higher for the next few years.

Petrol 1.8 vs 1.5 N/A wont be huge diff la. ..

Just my opinion. brows.gif

just go to test drive Civic 1.5 Turbo vs Accord 2.0 both car. Civic power is far more better than Accord 2.0. Actually the cabin space after i view yes is bigger... but Civic also large enough for comfort.

Accord the win part is the seat very comfortable, and the sun blind at behind is really good
for me i think i will use it... i everyday waiting traffic light i also put my gear to N and pull my handbrake... so i think if got still function for me is useful
*
Depending on your age and usage lar.. if 40+ accord ok. 20-30+ drive accord like uncle only.... lol.

Civic turbo is more on sporty drive, powerful, good handling and looks sporty. If often fetch family with children.. accord more suitable & comfortable.

No need compare Accord 2.0, even accord 2.4 also cant beat civic turbo. both have almost similar output. but Civic torque come much earlier at 1700rpm and the car is 250kg lighter than accord.

I did consider accord 2.0 VTi before purchase Civic T. but rejected by my wife.. she commented " eh! u don't so uncle ok? " Anyway im 37. lol biggrin.gif

If next Gen Accord with turbo then diff story. bruce.gif

smaller CC but the power output similar to 2.4 engine, of course the FC also similar.
like  CX5 2.5 & CRV 1.5T, both FC also around 7.0l/100km
https://www.carsifu.my/car-reviews/suv-supr...da-cx-5-2-5-gls
*
Comparing CX5 2.5 vs CRV 1.5T more accurate as both are almost 1.6 tons car. Skyactive moderm engines are very efficient. and CRV 1.5T tune for more power than Civic 1.5T. Even honda website fuel consumption CRV 1.5T - 7L/100km while Civic only 5.8L/100km.

If you compare accord 2.4 vs Civic 1.5 T to have same fuel then is not accurate. Accord is much heavier than Civic (250kg extra) bigger tyres plus accord using older 2.4NA and not the high compression skyactive modern engine. + old 5 speed GB compared to civic CVT. If accord drive relax while civic drive aggressively then is possible to have same fuel consumption. If both have the same driving style then is impossible.

Civic 1.5 T highway @ 110km/h can achieve 20km/l + and my previous city 1.5 can only get only 18Km/l+. If accord 2.4 can achieve 20km/l @ 110kmh then is really impressive. Means the higher the CC the better the fuel consumption. lol

actually i always drive alone with my wife only... parent in hometown one year come two or three times.... by the way i am 28 onl  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
How was Civic t.5 tc highway drive ? after 120km still able to feel the power is still can power up?
so which one your prefer in the end?
*
Highway drive is nice.. feel planted at high speed yet very comfortable. The cons is.. the car feel very slow to drive at 110kmh. So usually ill drive about 130-140kmh... comfortable speed smile.gif Road noise can be a bit loud due the the lousy MC5 tyres. Power is nice.. is always there ..even you push to 180kmh... brows.gif Too bad top speed limit cut @ 207kmh... else i think can go up to top speed 230kmh+.

Best speed for economy is around 70-90km/h.

Civic 1.5 feels floaty at 130km/h. You guys must be too brave to drive comfortably higher than that.
*
Floaty at 130km/h? Hmm. Pump too much air? Mine I dont feel floaty even driving at 150-160kmh. 150kmh still very comfortable and relax to drive smile.gif I think still depend on individual.
