Does Maybank block card usage abroad by default and we have to call to inform that we’ll be out of the country? I find that some banks block while some don’t.

last I checked, no need to inform. nevertheless can still call just to be safe.

Thanks. Then I supposed it’s the same as HSBC, HSBC told me they do not block overseas usage but they might try to contact me for verification (perhaps on high amount transactions) and if they fail to contact me they might temporarily block it until I call back.

I've been using my MBB AMEX at Singapore, Indonesia, Netherlands, Japan, China all seems fine. No confirmation or pre activation.

I will still call to confirm though I have been informed it's not required by MBB. I have used in many countries with no issue but there was once my card nearly got blocked in Japan as I missed their call and I had to call back which incurred high costs due to roaming but I called using my corporate line.

hi, i have just gotten my maybank 2 cards platinum. after checking M2U, i can only see only the mastercard in the card lists, my AMEX is missing from the list. anyone experience that before?
