you have a good point here, i think i will stick with my Tx3Mini box and connect it to the HDMI port of the new android TV and watch everything from my TX3mini which i already have netflix, prime, AOTG, Youtube vanced installed and work well.

i am just thinking it is a waste i have a new android TV and yet i can't use any of its features and apps and i still run everything out from my tx3mini.

yep, i am in same situation.

i have 2 ATV tvs, each with a tx just for Ago; the rest, i use TV apps which are more convenient - unifitv, iqiyi, utube, netlfix, etc...

i do not recommend unapproved/suspect apks for the TV becos i have encountered the warnings, not worth risking it.

BTW, tx3 is not a premium box, u get better video quality from smart TV compared to tx3 for same app found in playstore.

U can install x-plore, a file manager to sideload.

BUT i advse u not to sideload but stick to apps listed in playstore as there r certain security features against malware.

ATV is not optimized for non ATV apps, can cause problems to yr tv... thats what i was trying to tell.

Standalone cheap box, can do anything... u only lose a cheap box in the worst case.

Depends on what you want to sideload. For me, I use x-Plore to load apk directly from a USB device, and I usually install only one thing, Smart Tube. This is a Youtube replacement app that also has the ability to block not only advert, but also skip adverts in video directly

you are right, my TX3mini was bought at RM 85 vs my android TV which is RM 2500 so i have to be careful what APK to install in ATV so it won't break the OS.

since u r new to this ATV tv, take note that some apps are only for ATV, some are only for regular android, some have multiple versions, all legit.

if u use the wrong one, it does not work properly... can't navigate well, things missing, etc.

Asgo app was never in ATV playstore, but sideloading worked, alto clumsy... until they decided to kill it, doesn't well anymore.

Unifitv app is in ATV playstore works v well on ATV; a diff version for regular android, works well too.

If u try sideloading, some will work fine, some will not, some will trigger a warning from systems security.

I bought a 'Tanix TX3 Max' TV Box Android 7.1 with Amlogic S905W 2GB/16GB around Sept 2018.

Through the years, I have tried many system software such as Dual OS edition of android 7.1/Libreelec (TANIX TX3 MAX & MINI DUAL OS EDITION 20180321), android 7.1/Coreelec. https://discourse.coreelec.org/

Currently, it is running at its optimum of ATV-9. I have also tried (normal android) android 9-pie as well. This latest OS is very good, thanks to the fantastic work of a Russian computer programmer, 'SlimHouse' https://slimboxtv.ru/, project name: SlimBoxtv

Current version is V14.7 issued on 15-Jan-2022.

File Name,

sbx_tx3mini_atv_14_7 = ATV 9

sbx_tx3mini_pie_14_7 = Android Pie

The Tanix TX3 Max is compatible with this firmware.

Enjoy!! biggrin.gif

I just noticed that Sooka is offering Smart TV (ATV) package now. If you are using Astro for just sports, then I think this is the best option (for now). Also they are now using 50FPS stream (albeit at only 720p, but it's much higher quality than previously)

Will the Sooka apk work on most standard Android (not ATV) boxes?

You can try. Sooka has 3 free channels (Arena, EGG, Awatni) so you don't need to subscribe to try. I don't have any standard Android box, only ATV boxes, so I can't try it sad.gif

Now Astro TV app has been put on Tizen app store. However it's only for beta testing.

Hopefully later Astro can officially put the Astro TV app for Android TV, Google TV and Smart TV.

I have installed it on Samsung TV, however when login, it notify me that my account already activated on other device. So, I can't test the feature.

That's only for Astro Go app, not this Astro TV app.

I already cleared my other devices. Only left my Astro decoder.

Limited to beta testers account only I presume. Considering that Sooka is already on Android TV, I think Astro will be available as well in the future

Anyone can recommend which android box is good for Astro OTG?
Installs official astro go App, not pirated/ modded apk. (should be more stable right....?)

I have an account and I just want to set it up and forget about it. (Setting up for elderly with 0 tech knowhow).

I just read thru the last 50 pages. OMG bangwall.gif bangwall.gif bangwall.gif bangwall.gif bangwall.gif it's so confusing.
It's like cat and mouse even if you have an legal id.
