500 RELA personnel deployed to assist in monitoring ESSZONE starting January 2018

user posted image

Lahad Datu: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said 500 Rela members from the Volunteer Department will be deployed in a pioneer project to assist in monitoring the security in Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) from Jan 2018.

"The mobilisation of 500 Rela members has already begun," he told a press conference during a working visit of the 17 Battalion, General Operations Force (PGA), here, Thursday.

Earlier, Ahmad Zahid and Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman heard a briefing by Commander of Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom), Datuk Hazani Ghazali, and Rela Director-General Zulkifli Abidin.

Ahmad Zahid said the purpose of his visit was a follow-up on the decisions made in the two Esscom Advisory Board meetings to ensure that security in Esszone was under control.

"We discussed about some actions to curb cross-border crimes as we cannot give any space to cross border criminals."

Ahmad Zahid and Musa were satisfied with the security level of areas under Esscom.

In September, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said the Government has agreed to mobilise 6,148 Rela members to assist in monitoring the security in 10 districts in Esszone.

Logically why in the world would Malaysia give them the new uniforms when ATM themselves don't have enough?why not give them the old celoreng?OR the desert celoreng already in theatre in Lebanon?

Sure these people don't have enough ammo and explosives but let's send them our new camo designed for South East Asia for them to fight urban warfare in and risk getting caught and assfucked by the UN instead of sending money so they can smuggle RPGs and AKs from Egypt like normal people meanwhile the IDF doesn't even use camo, logik sial

Indonesia outlines aviation plans

Indonesia has set out its future defence aviation operating and procurement plans, with an article posted on the air force’s website on 15 December.

The plans, which have been drawn up by the service chief under the concept of ‘No area left without air cover’, would see a redeployment of resources as well as the acquisition of new equipment.

As outlined in a briefing by the head of the Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara: TNI-AU), Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said a number of bases that do not have combat aircraft will be equipped with them to provide total air defence coverage and force projection as part of Indonesia’s wider plans to become a maritime power in the region.

Future organisational plans include the addition of three squadrons of combat aircraft to the eight it already has; the addition of heavy, medium, and tactical transport squadrons; a new helicopter squadron; and the standing up of two squadrons of unmanned aerial vehicles. Equipment plans comprise the procurement of four airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) systems; four aerial refuelling tankers; counter-terrorist helicopters; an undisclosed number of amphibious aircraft; as well as 12 ground-based radar systems.
