it's the 'right' target. The question is,why and how the man go near that target.. from the news, it seem that 2 men were injured in the incident.both are observers/reporters

nope, looks like a legit observer site (or maybe a parking lot)
apart from the cars parked, one of the damaged vehicle looks like to be a russian army kamaz comms vehicle with its engine still running despite the damage
early reports seems to indicate technical failure and accidental launch

Russian Helicopters May Have Fired on Bystanders at Zapad Military Drills

Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a helicopter accidentally fired on bystanders at the Zapad 2017 military exercises, the online news portal 66.ru cited a source as saying on Tuesday.

The week-long drills in Western Russia and neighboring Belarus kicked off last week, with around 13,000 troops, hundreds of tanks, aircraft, warships and other military hardware participating.

The incident reportedly took place at the Luzhsky range near St. Petersburg either on Monday or Sunday. President Vladimir Putin visited the range on Monday.

The unnamed source told 66.ru that there appeared to have been a technical glitch on board “and the missiles blasted off on their own.”

“At least two cars burned down, two people were seriously injured, they are now hospitalized,” the source said. “The victims were most likely journalists.”

The Russian Defense Ministry said two attack helicopters simulated aerial reconnaissance and close air support missions on Monday as part of Zapad 2017.

Video footage accompanying the news report appears to show one of the helicopters misfiring a surface-to-air missile in the direction of camera crews.

Bundesmarine orders five more Braunschweig-class Corvettes

user posted image

The Bundesmarine has commissioned the construction of five Braunschweig-class corvettes from a consortium of North German shipyards. The contract was signed on Tuesday, the Federal Office announced yesterday. ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, Bremer Lürssen Werft, owned by Blohm + Voss, as well as German Naval Yards in Kiel are involved. The Lürssen Group, which will be the main focus of the production, distributes its work to the two sites Wolgast and Hamburg.

For Blohm + Voss it has been the first new shipbuilding contract in ten years. The ships are to be delivered from 2022 onwards. The program runs until 2025 and has a cost of around two billion euros. "This secures the future of Blohm + Voss," said the shipyard expert of IG Metall Hamburg, Emanuel Glass. Because of the lack of orders, the shipyard had been forced to resort to job cuts and pay cuts.

"The new order is a decisive step in saving the shipyard," said Hamburg's state economic director Frank Horch, who was formerly a member of the company's management team. "This helps Lürssen to rebuild the Hamburg shipyard."

Tahun Depan, Pindad Produksi 100 "Medium Tank" Pesanan Kemenhan

Senin, 18 September 2017 | 17:31 WIB

BANDUNG, KOMPAS.com - PT Pindad bersama FNSS Turki tengah membuat dua unit purwarupa medium tank.

Kalau terjadi deformasi baru kita lanjutkan prototipe kedua sehingga betul-betul sempurna," tuturnya.

Setelah sempurna, PT Pindad akan mulai memproduksi pesanan medium tank dari Kementerian Pertahanan sebanyak 300 unit. Pengerjaan dilakukan 2018 mendatang.

"Kebutuhan (Kemenhan) paling tidak sampai 300 unit. Tapi tahun pertama 100 dulu," jelasnya.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian police arrested seven Filipino security guards suspected of being members of the notorious kidnap-for-ransom Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), authorities announced on Thursday (Sep 21)

The men, who were nabbed in a counter-terror raid on Sep 14, sneaked into the country via Sandakan, Sabah using false documents, according to the police.
“All seven suspects aged between 22 and 38 worked as security guards at several private companies around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur,” Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said a press statement.

One of the suspects aged 22, is a member of ASG who was involved in clashes with the Philippines’ military as well as kidnappings in southern Philippines.

Their arrests comes following the Aug 30 arrests of members of an Abu Sayyaf cell who had planned to launch terror attacks on the closing ceremony of the 29th SEA Games at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium and the 60th Independence Day ceremony on Merdeka Square.

Mohamad Fuzi also revealed that 41 foreign terrorist fighters have been arrested this year.

'To lose a good son, I can't swallow that': Parents of NSF who died in training mishap in Australia

SINGAPORE: When 3rd Sergeant (3SG) Chan Hiang Cheng Gavin arrived at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Queensland, he messaged his mother saying: “Reached camp”.
That was the last message his parents received from him.
On Sep 15, they received the news that their son died in a vehicular mishap in the training area. The 21-year-old was guiding a Bionix infantry fighting vehicle out of difficult terrain when it landed on its side. He was found unconscious next to the vehicle.
Speaking to reporters at the wake, Gavin’s grieving parents said they have “no more tears” left.
"I told my colleagues: 'Can you understand (what it's like) to cry until there are no more tears and you feel like you might suffocate?" said Mdm Lim Teck Kheng.

She and her husband Mr Desmond Chan, both 50, described Gavin as a thoughtful and independent boy who never requested much from them.
"This boy of mine was a very simple man," said Mr Chan, recounting how Gavin had only asked for a chocolate cake for his birthday last month.
“A 21st birthday to a boy or girl – at that age – is an important day. I wanted to buy him a good dinner but he refused to accept it. He just wanted to have a chocolate cake, that’s all.”
"Every birthday ... always the same chocolate cake," said Mdm Lim, a customer service officer with ground handler SATS. “Gavin knows that mummy always works hard for the family … he knows that mummy needs to send my daughter to overseas studies.”

Gavin is the eldest of four siblings. His 19-year-old sister is studying in Wellington. The other two siblings, aged 16 and 10, are in local schools.
In fact, Mdm Lim said Gavin had planned to apply to study overseas after coming back from training in Australia.
"He wanted to do social work. He couldn't get into a local course. Since his sister was coming home, I said I'd work hard so he could have the chance as well," she told reporters.

Mr Chan and Mdm Lim said they never had to worry about Gavin as he was a responsible boy.
"When he came home (from camp), he didn't bother me. He would see that I was very tired and (would) wash and iron his own clothes. Gavin was always like that,” Mdm Lim recounted, breaking into tears.
Mr Chan said even though Gavin had until 11.59pm to book in to camp, he always made sure he arrived well ahead of time. “(He would) chase me from 18:00 sometimes … to send him back to camp.”
"He was a responsible man. He knew what he was supposed to do. It's a loss," Mr Chan added. "We never worried about him because he was very independent. He knew how to take care of himself."
Mr Chan and Mdm Lim thanked the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for the assistance offered during this difficult time, including flying their eldest daughter from Wellington to Rockhampton Airport in Queensland to receive Gavin’s body.
When asked about how they were coping, both parents broke down.
"To lose a son, it's very painful," said Mr Chan. "To lose a good son, I can't swallow that. He was a good son. No words can describe how we are feeling now.”
3SG Chan will be accorded a military funeral. The cremation ceremony will be held at Mandai Crematorium on Saturday.
