heavyduty worst nightmare? QUOTE ![]() Marine Corps’ amphibious assault vehicle in California bursts into flames with 15 Marines inside http://americanmilitarynews.com/2017/09/ma...-marines-inside An amphibious assault vehicle with 15 Marines inside burst into flames during a training exercise at Camp Pendleton, California on Wednesday, according to a source with knowledge of the incident. Although the vehicle was engulfed in flames, all of the Marines were able to escape. However, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to talk with reporters, said that at least three Marines were being taken by helicopter to a local hospital for burns and smoke inhalation. The extent of their injuries is not yet known. The training involved Charlie Co., 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, an infantry unit situated at the northern end of the base at Camp Horno. The unit was carrying out a Combat Readiness Evaluation, the source added. Camp Pendleton’s media relations office confirmed there was an incident involving an AAV fire on base, but directed questions to 1st Marine Division. “All Marines are currently being treated for injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Marines and their families as they receive medical care. Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident at this time,” 1st Marine Division spokesman 1st Lt. Paul Gainey said in a statement. |

QUOTE(James831 @ Sep 15 2017, 08:08 PM) the lms can only take 20ft TEU container versionso there is a smaller club-k version that would fit QUOTE Anything of interest on the 20ft container-mounted version of Kh-35? The announcement of KH-35UE seems to have received little attention, as opposed to the similarly 40-ft containerized Club-K before it. ![]() ![]() https://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread....y-Thread/page45 This post has been edited by DDG_Ross: Sep 15 2017, 08:21 PM |

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Sep 18 2017, 02:09 PM) What I hope can add as an improvement to the ATM is in addition to KAGAT, to develop the establishment of religious chaplains for, at least, soldiers of the Christian faith (monotheist religion like Islam and Christianity perhaps easier, other faiths like Hindu or Taoisme or other chinese folk religions possibly a bit problematic to have chaplains, as most are polyeisthic and have no central deity. Different people worship different deities within the same religion.) you prolly shud know there is a church and christian services provided for the large sabah/sarawak christian natives inside the terendak camp which is the largest military camp in msiaI find it strange that there is currently no provision for worship and religious services for soldiers of other faiths, especially with Christians (especially from the Sabah and Sarawak natives) a major presence in the Ranger Regiments. Making a move like this would probably strengthen recruitment from other races to join the military. As of now most other races see it to be a mostly Islamic Malay-exclusive army. Even US military with very small number of Muslim soldiers (14,000+) have Islamic imams to lead prayers and administer religious matters. ![]() if there is substantial followers the army will provide it to them i guess ![]() ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Sep 18 2017, 02:47 PM) Wah, seriously I did not know this. i think none as its not as regimented like the kagatIs this just happen to be a church inside the camp or there are some ordained military chaplains in the many army camps and in the field? Also are they under an official military establishment i.e KAGAT? even if you look back at the history of atm, religious service is actually a recent thing kagat only formed in the 80s which is like only 30 years ago |

QUOTE(patt_sue @ Sep 19 2017, 04:32 PM) it's the 'right' target. The question is,why and how the man go near that target.. from the news, it seem that 2 men were injured in the incident.both are observers/reporters nope, looks like a legit observer site (or maybe a parking lot)apart from the cars parked, one of the damaged vehicle looks like to be a russian army kamaz comms vehicle with its engine still running despite the damage early reports seems to indicate technical failure and accidental launch ![]() https://russia.liveuamap.com/en/2017/19-sep...ke-at-zapad2017 This post has been edited by DDG_Ross: Sep 19 2017, 05:21 PM |

Russian Helicopters May Have Fired on Bystanders at Zapad Military Drills Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a helicopter accidentally fired on bystanders at the Zapad 2017 military exercises, the online news portal 66.ru cited a source as saying on Tuesday. The week-long drills in Western Russia and neighboring Belarus kicked off last week, with around 13,000 troops, hundreds of tanks, aircraft, warships and other military hardware participating. The incident reportedly took place at the Luzhsky range near St. Petersburg either on Monday or Sunday. President Vladimir Putin visited the range on Monday. The unnamed source told 66.ru that there appeared to have been a technical glitch on board “and the missiles blasted off on their own.” “At least two cars burned down, two people were seriously injured, they are now hospitalized,” the source said. “The victims were most likely journalists.” The Russian Defense Ministry said two attack helicopters simulated aerial reconnaissance and close air support missions on Monday as part of Zapad 2017. Video footage accompanying the news report appears to show one of the helicopters misfiring a surface-to-air missile in the direction of camera crews. QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Sep 28 2017, 05:11 PM) Russian Army tinkering with specialist 'Urban Assault Battalion' wut? ![]() Russian combat engineer with Urban Assault protective vest system Russian Federation Combat Engineers Chief, Lieutenant General Yuriy Stavitskiy, announced that the first assault engineer-sapper battalion has been established in the Russian Armed Forces on the basis of the 1st Combat Engineer Brigade in Murom. "We have assault units within the Airborne Forces, and from this model we formed a specialized battalion of this type within the 1st Combat Engineer Brigade. So far it's the only one. We'll see how it operates," he said on Tuesday. The new battalion is manned only by professional soldiers and is subordinated directly to the Chief of Combat Engineer Forces. It will include two assault companies and one heavy specialized equipment company. It will also receive specialized urban assault and engineering equipment being developed for the unit. "For the moment it will not participate in exercises. The battalion has already been formed and staffed, now we have to train and prepare it--it's all new methodology. We are still experimenting. We have to create new assault training lanes, materiel depot, equipment," Stavitskiy summed up. He emphasized that the idea represents the embodiment of the unique experience of the Great Patriotic War, when the Combat Engineer Forces had 10 sapper armies and about 20 special purpose assault sapper brigades. "Any urban area, any fortified area, which came under assault by our forces, was accompanied by our sappers. They had special body armor, the troops were specially selected, no more than 30 years of age, preferably sportsmen, with a high level of fitness", " We aim to replicate this" Stavitskiy said. everybody knows tachanka is best urban operator ![]() |
