Showroom demo videos from manufacturers always look crisp and vivid. If u compare side by side, of course the more expensive tv will look better (sales marketing strategy right)

I guess we should check the TV Display Profile first (standard or custom) before comparing or use our own contents/physical discs to test...nowadays alot of funny enhancements/effects being applied to the PQ

I think Panasonic generally more accurate which may also be related to picture less sharp. Or it's just me.

In showroom, LG picture more grabbing.

Show room 99.99% is loaded with vivid or standard mode. You cannot use it as benchmark.

Panasonic OLED is well known freaking accurate in colour as well but in show room is as vivid as others as well because show room always on with demo mode which is maximum vivid mode.

Any comment/review on Samsung 65" TU8500? Not much review can be found online, nearest would be TU8000 which is deemed good "jack of all trade" budget TV. Thanks.

Samsung has renamed their Premium UHD models and for 2020 we get the Crystal UHD naming which in all honesty feels more catchy even if their capabilities are far less capable than the Quantum Dots. The TU8500 is the highest Crystal TV you can find while it has only been announced for the UK and European markets. The first major change we find in the TU8500 is the use of Dynamic Crystal Display technology instead of Quantum Dots which means less accurate color reproduction. The TV is also less brightness capable according to the given rating.

Another downgrade we find is the use of the Crystal Processor 4K which comes with further reduced capabilities. Everything else is similar to the Q60T with the same audio system and smart functionality including Tizen and all it’s services.
Specifications

4K UHD resolution (3,840 x 2,160)
Dynamic Crystal Display technology
Dual LED backlighting
HDR
HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG support
Crystal Processor 4K
2CH 20W / Adaptive Sound
Game Enhancer, Multi-View, Ambient Mode
3 x HDMI / 2 x USB
ARC / eARC
WiFi, Bluetooth v4.2
Tizen smart platform
OneRemote

TU8500 got dual led function, which tu8000 less. Samsung's new Dual LED technology, which adjusts the backlight's color tone according to the content, may have improved the contrast ratio, but there's no way for us to be certain.

Thanks. Pretty much summarizes my research on this model. I think the main question is, would this TV be a reasonable purchase for less than RM4k, or is there better model to consider?

IF you are movie purist , want to get best color accuracy out of box. Get both hdr 10 + & dolby vison format . got best quality of low-bit video streaming content playback performance, you should chose GZ1000. If you are heavy gamer, need hdmi 2.1 feature , better chose c9. I won't choose Sony a8g because Sony dolby vison using low latency version not as good as panasonic & LG which had dedicated chips for dolby vison. some more, A8G only equip with old 4K HDR Processor X1™ Extreme , not flagship Processor X1™ultimate. So only HDMI ports 2 & 3 support the full bandwidth of HDMI 2.0. Unlike the X950G and A9G.

Can get 2020 model at 2019 price through connection, maybe RM300 more expensive but its fine I guess smile.gif
HDR is not great with this TV but I am replacing 6 years old LG LA7600 which does not have these bells and whistles, so it's still an upgrade any how smile.gif

Thanks.

I presume you are referring to typical Youtube non-4K PQ will be better on GZ1000. Significant difference?

How popular is the HDR10+?

What about the sound?

Food for thought; get a C9 and hire a calibrator to calibrate it. It'll still be cheaper than a GZ1000 and you'll get much better color accuracy as well.

The thing is, they are selling at similar price. In fact, Seng Heng is selling it cheaper. And it's not easy to find a calibrator.

As for price, isn't it selling RM11,999 on Senheng? The C9 65" is only RM8888 at Best Denki.....

kkthen already reply you with great answer. smile.gif but I think GZ1000 is some how too expensive. I still prefer C9.

touristking For your another two question.

Sound, get a decent sound system. Most TV sound is not very good even mentioned support Dolby Atmos.

HDR10+ title is very little and no any streaming platform support it.

With all due respect, you're not calibrating if you're just eyeballing it. That's like saying you can cut a piece of wood to a specified dimension without first measuring it. nod.gif

And no, calibrating fees are not as cheap as 200 bucks.
