QUOTE(sHawTY @ Jun 27 2019, 09:22 AM) You're welcome. Learn to do your own research instead of asking people to spoon feed you  Find someone with 3D printer & ask them to print this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3121121Aiyo. Interesting side topic. Would be interested to see how everyone mount or place their AC86U or AC5300. Share your poisons!

Thank you anyway. Read his comment again. He already pre-modified the 3D printed document template so that it will fit on RT-AC86U without any need for you to do any modification For 3D printing services, you can look for https://i.materialise.comThey have an office in Damansara Perdana. Don't ask me how much it will cost, ask them

QUOTE(JayceOoi @ Mar 18 2019, 08:47 AM) I thought my AC86U has issue. Guess that it's the firmware issue then. BTW, Download Master is still working on latest firmware. Just you cannot see it in the USB Application. Same as latest Merlin. Change a new SSID name. Or new SSID password. Great. My AC86U still in for warranty support and my AC68U power adapter goes dead. Aiyoh. What's going on with Asus. It was fine before all the new firmwares came in. Now waiting for AC86U to come back. Honestly I think I want to just give up and sell off the 86U and but another AC68U as a backup. So fed-up at this point. Asus Malaysia warranty policy need to return the whole set for replacement and no on the spot replacement available. WTF. Just power brick. So obviously dead. Really no idea which other brand router to go for right now. Nothing quite like Asus with all the other stuff I need (AiDisk, Download Master, etc).

Got my replacement router from Asus China after sending the dead one back. Total cost for postage etc RM155. Total time under four weeks. It was a pain in the #$@, even with the patient help of a Taobao forwarding agent. If you don't speak Chinese I would advise against buying from China - the RMA process is such a big hassle.
Anyway, I finally have a working AC86U again. The sticker shows hardware version 1.5 (not sure what the old one was), manufactured in 2019. Doing some TV streaming now and the CPU is at 77 degrees.

Wow 77degC. Not considering to install cooler fans?

QUOTE(jimbet1337 @ Jul 16 2019, 09:42 PM) Wow 77degC. Not considering to install cooler fans? I'm not convinced the problem is heat. Others here (and in this topic) have said they had fans running and the router still died. Probably a design/manufacturing fault with the early versions. I could install fans just to be safe but I don't want even minimal noise from that.

Yes, cooling does not help to solve hardware issue. But it DOES cool the CPU and make it perform as FAST as possible without throttling.

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Jul 17 2019, 01:08 PM) My post above was only referring to the fan noise, I didn't say anything about manufacturing fault now did I? Click on the link I gave in my last post (the words in red). In that thread you said: QUOTE It has nothing to do with cooling Read through this topic and you will see that 2 out 3 users in here with a dead AC86U does use fans on their routers but their routers still end up dead Again, it has nothing to do with cooling, it's a manufacturing fault. Read what I said earlier, there is no way to get 100% quality on every unit So why do you advocate cooling now? Selling fans? This post has been edited by tertiary: Jul 17 2019, 01:49 PM
