I wonder why is Yao consider as over-rated and overhyped sometimes.... When he came into the league, most of the professional analyst does not see him being good, not to mention being great.... He draws comparison to SHAWN BRADLEY for christ sake... and at best, he is going to be a RIK SMITHS... hell, even barkley said he wouldn't score more than 19 in one game and end up kissing a donkey ass....

He improved so much in recent years to average 24/10/2 and ppl start to say he is overhyped, underperforming....

O...btw, his scoring and big games normally come against Shaq, Duncan, Amare etc.... and he doesn't play when the score is decided and all.....

If Lakers wants to keep Kobe, they better do something else apart from keeping the current team... which aren't going anywhere at all... sometimes trading Kobe might be a good idea as his salary will bag Lakers lots of young talented players and rebuild from there since they aren't able to put anyone alongside Kobe anyway....

One thing i can say about Yao is that, the Chinese are people who work very hard to achieve success and Yao is a good example of a simple Chinese who work the extra miles and by no means, the results he has gain today is a big achievement that he has sweat off.
I dare not say he is overrated but then looking at the stats, his improvement over the years is just amazing that make it people hard to believe that he is on par with Shaq, Duncan, Amare...
The comparison with Shawn Bradley... no comment whistling.gif

About Kobe, i think his future will be somewhere off and not the Lakers.

Nice to have you back Glyyde... i for one have no main issues against Yao...its just kobe8bryant's renegade hatred on him....tongue.gif

I think the point being said here, would be the role he plays in defense...can't compare him with Shawn Bradley, Shawn Bradley is no where near him. Rik Smits would be a good comparison.

Probably he is not as great as Hakeem the Dream, but hes good..that to me..its what matters

But no, hes not on par with duncan, shaq defensively, but offensively, hes a threat

Eddie Griffin Dead At 25 / Former Timberwolves forward dies in SUV-train crash

Former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin died last week when his sport utility vehicle collided with a freight train in a fiery crash in Houston, the Harris County medical examiner's office said Tuesday.

Investigators used dental records to identify Griffin, 25, who began his pro career with the Houston Rockets in 2001. He was waived by the Timberwolves in March.

The five-year veteran and former seventh overall draft pick had battled alcohol problems since coming out of Seton Hall. He was suspended by the NBA for five games in January for violating the anti-drug program.

Houston police said in a report that the SUV ignored a railroad warning and went through a barrier before striking the moving train about 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Reggie Still Not Sure On Comeback

Reggie Miller is still debating whether to make a comeback at age 42.

The NBA's career leader in 3-pointers tried to dodge reporters' questions about his possible return on Tuesday as he attended Peyton Manning's charity bowling tournament, saying he wanted to talk about the Super Bowl MVP and his event.

Eventually, though, Miller acknowledged no decision was imminent.

"I'm in shape to bowl," Miller joked. "But I don't even know what I'm going to do."

USA 112 vs. Venezuela 69
QUOTE
LAS VEGAS (2007 FIBA Americas Championship) - If the United States was trying to send a message that it is the team to beat in this tournament, most would agree that Venezuela got that message loud and clear on Wednesday night.

The USA scored early and often, opening the game on a 9-0 run and rolling to a 112-69 victory to cap the action on day one at Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV.

The USA employed a balanced attack, with seven players scoring in double digits.

Carmelo Anthony and Michael Redd led the United States with 17 apiece. The USA also dominated inside, outscoring the Venezuelans 58-14 in the paint.

Defensively, Dwight Howard led the USA with three blocks while Kobe Bryant and LeBron James teamed for 6 steals.

Collectively, the USA forced Venezuela into 20 turnovers, capitalizing on those miscues with 41 fast break points. Greivis Vasquez led Venezuela with 12 points.

I would love to see Reggie give it a try at Boston
After all, the combination of Pierce + Miller + Allen + Garnett is very much different than the combination of Malone + Payton + Kobe + Shaq..

From the team USA line-up I think that other than 1st place is definate not acceptable. Team USA need to get back their lost pride because they are not doing very well in the past years startng when cannot win the Athens Olympic Gold medal. International and NBA basketball is not the same, thats why they bring in most quality player (especially shooters) in.
