Maggette, Clippers Rally To Beat Lakers, Despite Kobe's 50 Points

Corey Maggette scored a career-high 39 points, Elton Brand added 32, and the Clippers rallied to beat the Lakers 118-110 Thursday night despite Kobe Bryant's 50 points.

Bryant's nine 50-point games this season are the most in the NBA since Wilt Chamberlain scored at least 50 nine times in the 1964-65 season. Chamberlain averaged a record 50.4 points three years earlier

Very bad if they 1 2 clinch a playoff spot..

LeBron Scores 35 Points In 36 Minutes

For 12 minutes, the Cavaliers drove, dunked and did anything they desired.

And all New Jersey could do was watch.

LeBron James looked primed for the postseason, scoring 35 points in 36 minutes, and the Cavaliers secured home-court advantage for the first round of the NBA playoffs with a 94-76 win Thursday night over the Nets, who blew a chance to inch closer to a berth.

Nuggets To Sign Wafer

Von Wafer's new place of employment will be 15 miles down the road.

The Nuggets are expected to announce today the signing of the Colorado 14ers swingman for the rest of the season, and he will be a candidate to play tonight against the Hornets. They also may sign either point guard Anthony Carter or point Mateen Cleeves, with Carter sounding much more optimistic Thursday night about being selected.

The Nuggets flew Wafer, Carter and Cleeves to Oklahoma City on Thursday, and they worked out at the Ford Center.

"He's so pumped, you'd have thought he signed a $90 million contract,'' said Wafer's agent, Raymond Brothers, who said his client signed Thursday.

THey got A.I & Melo de y they 1 another guard?? flex.gif

Kobe score 50 points when Lakers takes on Clippers.. then less then 24 hours they went into battle wit da div champ.. it is tiring.. with players like Odom, Walton & Bynum its not enough 2 stop Suns.. & of course with 2 games left, they r fighting 4 a playoff spot..

Sometimes i am not really sure myself about Kobe... ppl say that he is good and he can get the shot to sink anywhere anytime but then ... what matters most is consistency.. to me, i think it is the team's fault for relyin too much on Kobe... 1 thing for sure, he is no Wilt Chamberlain and by the looks of this season, he is not capable to single-handedly bring the team forward to a higher ground...

I prefer the Lakers to play without Kobe, and playing as a team... i was so frustrated watching the game of Lakers vs Clippers that i am starting to gain some hatred against the team.. much of a Lakers fans myself but then the match opened my eyes, how much the team rely on Kobe, giving him the ball, making tough shots, basketball is about being a team of 5ive.

Probably the Lakers might play even better without Kobe in the team..
*
hmm.. u got a point there.. Kobe is like the go to guy in da lakers 2 take a shot.. if Lakers were 2 play without kobe, then the other Lakers players can improve on their offensive role..

2 days match between Rockets & Suns really exciting.. both Yao ming & T-Mac scoring 30+ points.. thumbup.gif

Garnett Speaks To Wolves About New Contract

According to Sid Hartman, longtime columnist in the Twin Cities area reports there are rumors that Kevin Garnett recently talked to owner Glen Taylor about a contract extension.

Garnett is signed through next season, then becomes a free agent

Added on April 22, 2007, 4:11 pmTaylor Open To Trading Garnett

Bloomberg News reported Friday that Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is open to trading Kevin Garnett, a statement that probably creates more smoke than fire.

But the quotes from Taylor don't reveal anything the owner hasn't said in the past.

Taylor told Bloomberg: "I certainly don't think you never say never. I wouldn't close the door to it."

That's consistent with Taylor's stance in the past.

During the preseason, Taylor told the Pioneer Press regarding the idea of rebuilding the team without Garnett: "I wouldn't want to say to you it wouldn't happen. ... I'm saying I don't see that because I want to win. But if you say to me, is there a circumstance? Yeah, if we just decide to go all young. ... I'm not interested in doing that (going young), but that's still something you have to think about if things don't work out."
